Info Wanted: Star Wars - The Temp Track...
Time

Just remember to put a password on it. And tell us the password.

Pucini's Manon Lescaut's "Intermezzo"  synced with the Binary Sunset scene, more or less: https://vimeo.com/49986231

I used a sync on youtube of the scene with the "Binary Sunset (alternate)" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bvt5LLrqLYU) as a template, as that's what Williams would have written first in response to the temp track. After rendering, I realized that my drums are in a different spot... but it still seems to work, so I dunno. Such is the way of doing things with Windows Movie Maker.

Two more attempts!

Holst's "Mars" from The Planets, with the 2nd half of the Death Star battle: https://vimeo.com/49983321

This was entirely based on the really, really, really obvious quoting of the ending when the battlestation blows up. I have no idea if the whole battle was done like that, although it has its moments.

And the Throne Room, with the 4th movement from Dvorak's New World Symphonyhttps://vimeo.com/49984156

Both of them have a few points where you wonder if a different recording, slightly different in tempo or timing or whatever, would synchronize better. It's probably impossible to figure out which version they threw in there originally though, and frankly I'm surprised that certain moments match as well as they do. So I'll live with that.

Later, I should have the Pucini's Manon Lescaut's "Intermezzo" / Binary Sunset up.

Oh, and, as always, the password is OT. We're so secure.

Or perhaps you'd like to see them synced. https://vimeo.com/49975294

This is already great as it is, but I'd love to see it overlayed on this,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxXormkENVI

with voices and effects intact. The black and white really adds to it :)

Tried that, and the sync wasn't nearly as good IMHO. I don't think it was the right length, etc. Given that that's from an early cut of the film and Williams would have been given the final cut, such a sync probably never even happened.

There are other versions of Benny Goodman playing Diga Diga Doo, but the timing on this one seems good to me.

And here's the opening crawl with the Ivanhoe opening: https://vimeo.com/49976347

I think I should have done the timing a little differently, but I'm not sure there's really a good way to get the crawl to appear when the music sounds like it should and still have it all start together.

And of course the password is OT

I'd love proof of some kind that you're the same guy who put it on reddit

http://www.reddit.com/r/StarWars/comments/101l4j/i_give_you_my_empire_strikes_back_poster/

but I can't think of how.

Anyway, it was really good of you to not post the link to buy the poster...

But if anyone wants to buy it: http://www.etsy.com/listing/109720978/star-wars-the-empire-strikes-back-poster

DVDs ARE good enough for people with SD TV sets. But soon as they buy an HDTV, they will upgrade their movie collection with HD sources. I know it - I have bought my first HDTV only last year and I was shocked when I noticed how BAD the DVDs look on it, even when they looked AMAZING on my old CRT TV.

Not always true. Not true for my parents & sisters. DVDs are good enough for them.
