Oh, so, you’re not doing it?
Oh, so, you’re not doing it?
Technically, Coruscant was added from the then upcoming Prequels into the OT. It’s only the name Coruscant that comes from the Thrawn Trilogy.
On the one hand, it was never depicted before the Thrawn Trilogy. On the other hand, the idea of a city-planet, I think, goes back to the early drafts (and Trantor in Asimov’s books).
That could add some realism to the battle
I finally saw The Rise of Skywalker and I’m happy to say that if you spend months on the Internet encountering people’s explanations of why it’s terrible, it doesn’t come off as awful just not good. It’s bad, but I don’t hate it. I will not claim to have read or remembered all of your thoughts in this thread, so apologies if this is redundant, but it is nice to have a thread where I can write my thoughts out nonetheless.
Yeah, that’s like…the part of the movie that most people love most, remember best, cry over, etc.
I did make an edit using the workprint and uploaded it to archive.org before it was taken down by a ravenous hoard of Thomas fans
The director posted about it asking people to stop posting about it though in fear that they would never release the deleted footage because it was leaked. She wanted it released properly
Odd since it’s not in the details for the Blu-Ray release:

The workprint isn’t, but the “Deleted Story Lines” are, which is where everyone expects to find the missing footage.

at 12.23 min “This Sith lord sent by the Emperor will be our undoing”
Really wish Adywan would add this line back in. The Sith aren’t mentioned till the prequels, so itd be nice to hear of the Sith (and more of the Emperor) in ANH
Holy shit, this line is amazing, I definitely want to add it to my edit.
There you go everyone, absolute proof that Darth Vader is and always was a Sith and the Sith always existed in Star Wars.
Well sure, the term appears as early as the May, 1974 rough draft.
That’s pretty wonderful. Also, please note the upper-half of Maul charging into battle.
Agreed, those colors/saturation are pretty bad, but the DS looks good.
The SkyForge stuff looks great, and I hope he teams up with some folks who shoot live action and/or have storytelling vision. Occasionally it felt like it was verging on cartoony or claymation feel, but better that than bad CG.
Yeah, the average consumer doesn’t really care much about the SE vs OOT, or if a poster year matches the year the version they’re watching was made. Why would they? Obi Wan fights Darth Vader and Luke blows up the Death Star - it’s the same movie in most people’s minds.
I do think it’s pretty easy for people in the video-enthusiast camp (i.e. you care a lot about compression artifacts) to overestimate how much bigger the average consumer market (people who care a lot more about ease of access) is. Why would Disney continue to release physical media?
I actually think this should be in “Best Edit Ideas”, but as that isn’t a thread, I will put it here:
Dew it!!!
That or an general ‘random fan edit ideas’ thread, maybe?
😉
Does that exist? I didn’t create it because I figured it would become an endless, unorganized and often repetitive grab-bag.

He’s pretty right on most if not all of them, and it’d be a good way for someone doing a complete saga edit to throw the viewer into an alternate universe feeling
Maybe an unused take of the race to the Falcon or the pad where Boba was taking off from? Meant to be a plate for a matte shot. Somewhere I’ve seen a still of a blue screen shot of Lando leading Han and the gang that was supposed to composited with a Cloud City exterior that never made it into the film.
It was used, the camera is above filming and they did have a shot from above when they were running to the Falcon with the matte painting around it. Cool image, I didn’t know it was shot outside.

Though it appears to be a different take/setup where Chewie is behind, rather than in the lead.
I’ll shut up.
Just make your own thread! Then you can talk all you want
He cut out frames from Dex, to make him look like he’s stop-motion.
I grew up with the similarly sped up CED of Star Wars, and I recall it being subconsciously weird when I got the Faces set as a teenager.
This is pretty amusing given that you’re now the “The Originals must be The Originals!” guy.
It’s aspirational music for the Hutt
That is the most polite post this forum has ever seen. It makes me happy.
But who on earth is going to figure that out from the film? Hrumph.
Agreed, but there’s only one Mon Cal ship at the Battle (if memory serves). As such, and given that we don’t see any others at Yavin in the film, it’s possible to surmise that the Mon Cal faction in the Alliance, or at least ready to fight, was small at this point.
If it’s not in the film, it isn’t “known” to the audience.
Sorry to say, but the audience knew the word “Ewok”
The obscure novelization giving info on how the Emperor gained power & the massive advertising juggernaut plastering EWOK on everything are very different situations.
I agree; I was just pointing out that the principle he espoused is definitely false as a general principle.
Kylo isn’t a Sith. Or at least he doesn’t know he is? Unclear.
They’re not red, because he stole them from Jedi. The idea that he has killed many Jedi is a big part of what makes him intimidating at all.

Highly doubtful you’ll ever see lightsiders wielding red sabers in the new canon given the new canon’s explanation for how they’re created.
Just because “bleeding” them turns them red doesn’t mean they can’t also “naturally” be red.
While technically correct, this would be visually confusing.
If it was Mando, why keep it mysterious? Why not show us?
It’s Boba Fett.
