They showed it on Entertainment Tonight once, I think.
They showed it on Entertainment Tonight once, I think.
Another in the Bad Delivery pile...
"Inform the commander that Lord Vader's shuttle has arrived!"
I almost want to make a "There was no father" joke?
Back on topic, "Copy Gold Leader" has really, really awful delivery.
"Pick up your visual scanning" has always cracked me up. "Look around you!"
I was with you until you said lobotomised - That's the wrong word, as that results in a personality change, and I think overstates the situation. The rest of your points were solid, though, so I'm now feeling good about replacing Artoo's laughter with a mournful whistle.
Besides lobotomised clearly the process by which one becomes a cyborg.
As for Classic LOL...well, I guess I'm honored.
You'll never forget, will you?
(of course not, you're no protocol droid)

and Artoo laughing his nuts off as Threepio is about to have his memory wiped
To be honest, that part didn't bother me. The relationship between Artoo and Threepio has always sort of been like that, I thought. I've been people try to play this up as a tragic moment, an inhumane act, etc. Artoo knows, however, that Threepio will go on being Threepio. His personality doesn't change, his essence isn't lost.

Look at the Prequel deleted scenes though; where are all the ones that appeared on the DVDs?
Padme's family is conspicuously absent...
Xhonzi! Are you saying you were in one of the rare theatres showing a 70mm print with the monomix, including all of the Biggs scenes?! You lucky man!

I heard mentioned in this thread that the deleted scenes could be in the same kind of letterboxed SD as the 2006 GOUT. In the trailers for the deleted scenes, however, they appear to be in anamorphic...

Thoughts?
Well, it's not letterboxed at least. Will it be HD? No one knows.

The Phantom Menace was never going to be written as if it were something brand new, was it. That would be dumb. It's not like audiences of the original movies thought they better hold off for the first three episodes. The Star Wars movies were written to play in the order they were made. Lucas and some fans might want them to work in story order, but they simply weren't written that way. It's just the way it is.
I want you to consider two things you said:
Lucas... might want them to work in story order
and
they simply weren't written that way
Keep in mind that Lucas wrote the prequels.
Now, I'm definitely not saying he did a good job at it, but even you admit that it's his intent.
That would be dumb.
Maybe so, but, as Silver Key explains, one of the purposes of this thread is to give ideas on how to fix the prequels. One of the things that some people think is broken about the prequels is that they don't work as an intro to Star Wars.

We are discussing what might make them work in order.

Who cares what Lucas thinks? It's not like he got the prequels right in many other respects either, is it? There's no real way around it, the prequels are written as continuations for the audience, regardless of the chronology of the events they're depicting. You can watch Memento in chronological order if you want to, but it wasn't intended that way and doesn't work as well.
While this is true, Memento is a bad example because the movie is edited into the order it's shown in. It takes significant work to both watching it in chronological order.
Star Wars, on the other hand, has six distinct parts which, with absolutely no effort, you can watch in any order. Now, if you have six things, labelled 1 - 6, which do you think you're going to watch first? Probably not 4.
Oh, you're welcome. It was pretty enlightening for me. It also tells us a little bit about what can and can't be on the deleted scenes, because, let's face it, the hallway is only so long.

Control Room Blueprints - Annotated Edition
Screenshots come from DJ's V3 ROTJ and the SDCC Bluray Deleted Scenes Trailer.
Of note is the fact that we never see red-point H on film. Also, the details around red-point G get a little funny. Stairs? What stairs?
Hey guys, should all this recent mockup stuff be in ESB:R or ESB/ROTJ Wishlist, or an entirely new thread, similar to the ANH:Redux thread?
I doubt it's the first one, because we're not Adywan.
This felt related to the pro-SE stuff we've seen on bluray.com and TFN, etc.
Yeah, I think the Blu-rays will probably show how awful the beak looks. I don't actually mind the concept of the beak all the much, although I prefer the Sarlaac without it... but the actual beak as presented in 1997 (and unchanged since) looks bad.

I found these:
The bottom of the tin has a holder, while the inside of the lid has some foam padding, so the discs is fixated on the nub. Although I'm wondering how you get the disc out of the tin... if the edges are too high, you won't be able to get your fingers under the disc.
Also I can't think of a way to put them on a shelf without simply stacking them... not too fancy, I guess.
The side with the little indentation is actually the lid - Note that on the standing container, the smooth side fits within the other (and assumedly nubbed) side. The nub is not a functional nub, but instead decorative (and thus a bit prohibitive for stickers?). The disc sits atop the foam bit on the bottom, resting.
At least, that's my take on it.
Just think, a whole new world of color correction awaits!
And even more work for 005... prequels, even!
I'd rather have HD transfers of the deleted scenes without cleanup applied than SD transfers with cleanup. There are people around here who can do some cleanup - But if it's SD, you can't make it HD.
Question: Will you (Ady) be using the Blu-rays as the basis, rather than the HDTV recordings? I remember some sign that some of the crushed blacks might be slightly better in the upcoming discs, plus the bit-rate will definitely be higher.
Yes, it probably is a coincidence. How very astute of you.
I completely forgot about the expanded Cloud City. I loved that.
Holy shit they did. That's awful. ROTS Chewie doesn't even look like Chewie!
