Just watched the Lava vid that MR posted, there are quite alot of shots that could be used for sure. All the scene needs is about an extra 10 seconds to breathe.
I wonder if the shot the lava as Krennic flies over it in Rogue One would be a good addition.

I wish this movie wasn’t a team up movie and an origin story mashed into one movie, but because that can’t be changed i would let all the backstory stuff untouched.
Cut EVERYTHING with Amber Heard.
Tweak some of the slo-mo shots and remove some.
Cut Martian Manhunter out, keep the Lois scene, just not the transformation scene.
i dont think there are any scenes from the theatrical cut that i would use, they look like something from the CW channel.
On a different note: What’s the deal with the Mustafar minute sequence. - Has there been more things added for V2?
More establishing shots and more shots to let the movie breathe (but also dont event the movie score) are something I’m hoping for.

My problem with adding dialogue for Leia is, in TROS she comes across as very still and subdued, the use of the lines from other media seems to contradict her subdued nature.
Seeing as I cut a lot of Kylo in Snokes thrown room in TLJ I was playing with the idea of rotoing that footage and having Kylo enter Vaders castle to find the wayfinder chest using interior shots from Rogue One. He’ll kneel down before removing his helmet so what could be say?

- oh and as far as Finn’s force story is concerned, i think leaving it intact in the way it was in V1 is the way to go, i wouldn’t like to remove it completely, because lets say in the future they make a new movie and finn all of a sudden is using the force, it would seem odd continuity wise.
I very much doubt Disney will continue this storyline. A majority of actors have said they won’t return and each movie lost more and more revenue as time went on. As much as Finn being force sensitive would’ve/should’ve been an awesome payoff at the end I’m much happier removing any sign of his sensitivity. Poe also shows some signs in TLJ which didn’t go anywhere. TROS felt lost from the start, IMO.
Nah he will 100% return. I remember all the years people tried to reunite the OG cast, and it was hell. Carrie wanted nothing to do with Star Wars for years, but when the money was on the table everyone returned.
They will return to Finn being force sensitive.
As far as Poe is concerned, TLJ matured him, TROS turned him into a marvel sidekick.
Finn’s force ability story is the exact same as Leia’s in the OT. It’s best to just go with it. It took over 30 years to see Leia use the force properly
If you’re going to have a track for Temuera Morrison I think there’s a lot more potential than just leaving it the same, there’s lots of moments where grunts and additional could be added (the “what the?!” for example being replaced with Morrison’s actual voice). The main reason to do this would be to make his character feel a little more alive, connecting Fett to the Mandalorian show/prequels. I would like to use Hal’s cut of Attack of the clones and fix all of Obi-wan’s fake beard scenes…has anyone attempted it before?
I’m ok with the ship not being changed.
I think the shot is too striking to be changed.
Now, if you wanted to remove the explosions it would kill two birds with one stone.
I think this edit overall has made this a better movie.
Funnily what fixed alot of it wasn’t the addition of new material, it was simply cutting things that were already there, the time limit set up by palpatine, “they fly now”, & the reveal of chewie being alive being three big ones.
The current edits for V2 feel like things are being pumped back into the movie to give it a backbone.
I think its quite funny how this movie and ROTJ share so many of the same issues, and I’ll probably get flack for saying it but after watching V1 I enjoy this movie more than ROTJ, and even TFA.
I’m very curious Hal - outside of the remaining edits being done, is there anything in the movie you’ve wanted to change or enhance that has yet to be discussed?

I don’t like turning Pasaana into Jedha simply because jedha was destroyed, i am not against to use of using unused footage like the fallen jedi, matter of fact, turn the ship flying in that scene into Kylo’s and we’re golden.

Thanks for posting this, as someone from ireland I was so happy that they filmed here, and when Ach-to showed up it stuck out as being pure Irish, in a good way. So when it showed up again in TROS I was saddened with how fake it looked.
Drama wise that sounds great but I’m not sure how that would make Pasana more distinct from all the other sand planets? I think people were thinking more along the lines of changing the sand colour.

I was watching TROS a while ago and it had me thinking. Alot of us on here have been trying to separate Pasana from every other desert planet we have seen in star wars.
So here it is:
When Rey is standing in the desert on Pasana and she senses Kylo. What she is staring at in the distance is a sandstorm like in Mad Max Fury road, and we see an object emerge from it in the distance: Kylo’s ship.
I think its pretty out there but done right, making it look like the storm in Mad Max Fury Road. It also comes across like a reference to the Dune book where Paul flies through a sandstorm on Arrakis.
It would make Poe and Finn’s urge to escape feel even more urgent.

ah i see, im watching it with headphones so i probably picked up on it because of that, but back on topic, i think the sequence turned out wonderful, the addition of the new line fits. I hate when rey say’s ‘i destroyed ren’s ship’ because it’ adr’ed terribly (the worst in the whole movie) & it treats us like dumbies, i like Luke’s reply and think if the line about the ship was removed it would feel much better, but that’s a scripting issue rather than a visual issue

When Luke says ‘because your a palpatine’ its like the word ‘your’ overlaps with the word ‘because’. Other than that, its perfect.
A small side note - i was watching your v1 edit a while ago, at 01:07 - Rey say’s ‘‘we have to get to that wreck’’ in regards to the death star, as she says wreck her audio cuts abruptly in the middle of the word so it sounds like ‘wr__k’'.
