“And” being cut might be noticeable to some who are aware of the change, but I honestly believe your hypothetical first time viewer, or people who just haven’t seen the movie since release, wouldn’t even notice this change. I moved “Me” up a few frames earlier, and I think the slight shift helps sell it as well.

I like how Finn assumes it’s Ren with such conviction, only to be left not knowing what to say after Rey says it was her. I think this is the simplest way to handle it.

Yes! This is perfect. I felt this was how it should have been in the theatrical. I hope Hal uses this in his cut.

Happy to see the knights of Ren line being redubbed. I recorded a version a while back but Since I have the chance to already have my voice in the movie I didnt want to push it lol. Great work sherlock, it’s brilliant.

I think this is a non issue. It doesn’t change the movie and alot of people wouldn’t give it a second thought

Just read the adding lightning to the scene on the death star. 100% YES! I would love see it done.

It looks really cool, but sometimes less is more, i think the edit with just the 4 jedi fits both with the movie and the canon.

That Vader castle part from Biome is amazing! i hope it gets implemented in this, and there are ships flying past the castle in it too!

I’ve shown it to a few people and they all seem to get that the knife is a guide in itself & after Rey holds in Kylo’s room that she knew exactly where to look, so it’s quite good that one small change completely fixes a dumb issue with the movie

The way things are done right now is quite good, the writers all respect what star wars is and was and from there they are trying to build upon it. The High republic is a good example for that, all the writers work together as a collective, & its the best star wars eu content ever in my opinion.

I agree with JJB, this was Leia’s last shot & i think it would be a disservice to change it,but i get why you would want to change it.

I think looking at the ST, movie 1 is about han, movie 2 is about luke & movie 3 was supposed to be Leia’s & i think they accomplished it better than alot of people could when you look at the limited amount of footage they had.

I have read: Light of the Jedi, Test of Courage, Into the Dark, HR comic 1,2,3 & 4 & HRA comic 1 & 2.

I have come to the conclusion that it is my favourite star wars material ever. Each book was fantastic and the comics are brilliant too. I am sold on this era & want to see it in live action.

I have reached a point where I genuinely dont have it in me to want a different version of TROS. TLJ is incredibly layered, and adds some nuance to star wars, then TROS comes in and we got a goofy adventure.

But I’m not mad over it, this was the same in the original trilogy, ESB is incredible and fantastically layered, and then ROTJ comes in and all sense of tension no longer exists lol. But that’s star wars and I love it all.

I am delighted with the way Hal’s next cut is turning out, I’m excited to watch it and look at it as the definitive cut for the trilogy.

Star wars is a mess, but it’s a lovable mess.

To get off topic just a tiny bit, the first cut was mentioned in a youtube video today from pretty big channel and they mentioned the things that have been added.

Okay, here’s a stab at this. I don’t think there’s enough screen time to fit in a “What are you doing down here?” But I could try speeding up the 3PO clip.

These are brilliant.

That recolouring of the ship is fantastic. it’s such a small detail but it works so well.

I think we have reached a point where removing dialogue is something we don’t want to do, but now that the dagger story has been mulled over, removing the babu frik line is the way to go, but keeping the line doesn’t fit the story that is being crafted.

I think V2 is best, but I do like the removal of “heads up” in V1.2

Sometimes I feel like tearing my hair out with all this stuff.

I would love to read all the vader comics but where do I get them all in one purchase?

I agree Rey’s “please” sounds unnatural and added in though, same with the added Rey and Finn lines at the end of the other 3PO lines. And even on paper, Rey doesn’t know Jannah & co. can help them so why would she say “please”? I think it works better if she just plainly states their business, showing some trust but also being a bit blunt, then C3-PO helps by remarking they’re “allies” before Jannah decides to offer help.

You’re right, the Threepio remark does make the “please” redundant.

Dubbing Jar Jar would be fine if you were to use Hals cut instead of theatrical cut. In Hals cut he is more subdued.
In the theatrical cut he is too overly animated & dubbing him as the every man would see strange because of how he’s reacting.

Yeah you are completely right I just wish General Enric Pryde from TROS was in it. That would be my only wish for the movie.

The movie needed 30 minutes more, and it needed most scenes to have some room to breathe.

The same editing issues were there in TFA but because the story was so straight forward people overlooked it. But TFA rarely let’s the scenes breathe, its go go go from the first scene.
And that can be a good thing for some movies, but JJ did the same thing with Star Trek.

Compare JJ’s Star trek movies to the third one in his continuity, it’s like night and day. The third one let’s the characters have moments, so overall this is a JJ issue and a trait of his.

I’m glad you guys like the Kylo’s dark side vision idea! I wasn’t really coming at it from the direction of mocking Kylo, but I think the fact Kylo was being manipulated would become more apparent by the time we get to TROS. I think it is a great way to get insight into how and why Kylo joined the dark side. I like the idea of Kylo thinking he is doing the right thing in his own mind. Kylo has been led to believe that the Jedi perpetuate a cycle of war that has been going on for a thousand generations. He believes it is his destiny to end the cycle, but he must sacrifice everything to be strong enough to fulfill it.

I also think it makes it interesting that both Kylo and Luke have come to the conclusion that the Jedi Order must end, but they have two different ideas for what should replace it. Unfortunately that doesn’t really go anywhere, and we seem to end with no new insight into how things will be different, but what can you do?

But like y’all said, I guess it is just a matter of isolating those lines and working from there.
