Best line ever. Best Star Trek series ever.

Best line ever. Best Star Trek series ever.
Added trailer for television:
War of the WorldsLooks very promising. Hope it is better than the 80’s tv cult version! 😃
Yes!! Finally a version set in the 19th century like the book! Don’t like the look of the Tripods all that much though - clashes with the rest of setting.
Science fiction doesn’t interest me as keenly as it once did. I’m more into magic realism these days.
Space Opera is where it is at Duracell, not Sci-fi!
Dalton was the best Bond. Can’t believe I said that, but it’s true.
Guys, let’s stop all this talk of further films. Have we not learned anything from Star Wars? Franchises have a shelf-life - they belong to a certain time and a certain place. “You can’t go home again”.
I wish I would have accepted Mike’s offer to view a private screening of this. ☹
My combined Films/Video Games 2019 Rankings:
Great
Very Good
Good
Average
5. The Force Awakens - I want to say good, but in the end I have to punish it for being a soft reboot
6. Solo
7. ROTS - just barly made it up from “poor”
8. X-Wing Vs. TIE Fighter (game)
Poor
Bad…like really Bad
Well I suppose due to my name I’m legally required to post my thoughts. I prefer Outbound Flight, it’s was one of my favorites in the old EU. Not my actual favorite which might be counterintuitive, but hey, the name “OutboundFlight” is much slicker than “HeirToTheEmpire”.
I’ve also found Thrawn one of SW’s most interesting characters, despite him never appearing in any movies (yet). There really aren’t many “smart” SW characters besides him. He’s the opposite of the Jedi - the Jedi have wisdom and the force, Thrawn has intelligence and battleplans. His death is perfect, dying at the hands of the one people he underestimated - largely due to their connection with a force user.
Thrawn is almost too good in the original Zahn trilogy…but yeah, I like the moral point - that deception eventually blows up in your face…he is too practical, overriding his original moral sensibilities. Thrawn kind of fell to the darkside himself in service to the Empire.
Vision of the Future was the perfect sendoff to Star Wars for me…leave the future adventures of Luke, Han, Mara, Lando, Leia, Wedge and all the rest up to our imaginations. The duology is my canon SSD (Sequel-Sequel-Duology). Of course, it was last book written before the PT ideas infected/defecated on SW.
His books after Vision of the Future were significant drop-offs in quality - I never even bothered to finish Allegiance.
Let’s face it; the worst idea was to do prequels. They should have done sequels way earlier. Ford, Fisher, and Hamill would have been younger and more convincing as action heroes, and Lucas would probably have respected their input.
I doubt Lucas would’ve respected much of anything. An ST made in the '90s would’ve been preferable to the schlock we got in its place, but only if Lucas left the writing and directing to persons with actual talent and humility.
Lucas has talent, but yeah, the humility had disappeared by the 90s.
5000 BBY
The Corellian Federation, Kingdom of Alderan, and Coruscant Hegemony unite in a military alliance to defeat Xim the Despots Slave Empire.
4970 BBY
The Federation, Republic and Hegemony sign the Republican Concords, resulting in the creation of the Galactic Republic.
4970-4500 BBY
Slow Expansion of the Republic
4500 BBY
Hyperdrive is invented, greatly increasing the speed of space travel and the expansion of the republic.
4000 BBY
Civil Discord in the Republic. The Jedi Knights are formed to serve as Guardians of Peace and Justice.
1000 BBY
The Hutts are encountered and defeated by the combined Republic/Jedi Forces
250 BBY
Spaarti Cylinders are invented, allowing the production of stable clones by the Techno Guild, despite protests of the Jedi order of the unethical concept of manufactured sentients.
200 BBY
The Decline of the Republic begins. Great accumulation of wealth in the Techno, Banking, Energy, and Trade Guilds results in widespread corruption and bribery of Senators. The Outer Rim falls into defacto control of the Hutts once more.
80 BBY
Obi-wan Kenobi born on the backwater planet of Tatooine.
62 BBY
Obi-wan Kenobi is recruited by the Jedi Order and undergoes training at the Jedi Legion training centre on Empress Teta.
60-56 BBY
The first Clone War. The Techno Guild attempt to seize control of the Republic. After much fighting the Techno Union is defeated, but it’s leadership disappears from the Galaxy.
56 BBY
Anakin Skywalker is born.
40-33 BBY
The second Clone War. The Techno Guild had fled to the Rishi Maze. They return with Mandalorian Super Soldiers. At great cost to the Jedi and Republic they are defeated. Many of the Republics victories are due to the leadership of Marshal Bail Organa and his subordinate General Obi-wan Kenobi and his White Legions. Despite the victory the Guilds have continued to accumulate great power
30 BBY
Sponsored/bankrolled by the Guilds, Senator Palpatine is elected President of the Senate. Palpatine double crosses them and seizes their assets with the help of the Jedi and Republic Military. The population of the Republic generally supports this move.
27 BBY
Palpatine then turns on the Jedi, ordering their destruction. A trap set during a conference on Empress Teta destroys most of the Jedi leadership. Surviving Jedi attempt to flee to the Outer Rim (Hutt Space).
And then…?
I’ll just toss in having TLJ’s timeline starting immediately after TFA was a big mistake. Feels like Mockingjay or Deathly Hallows split up into two movies. Every film has a lengthy amount of time passed between each one. The point is to have characters grow and change, or at least see significant development from the last movie. Everyone basically feels the same from TFA to TLJ.
What are TFA and TLJ?

He didn’t when he made the OT, not sure why that would change if he made more.
Don’t be such a theoretical pessimist!
‘Behind the Scenes of Star Wars: The Original Trilogy ILM Special Effects Makers’:-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85MK2GDkoxo - at the Danny Nguyen youtube channel. (A 2015 Documentary. 59 mins)
The Blurb:-
“Watch the Star Wars Original Trilogy – Behind the Scenes – ILM Special Effects Makers. Learn how those amazing and groundbreaking effects where achieved in 1970’s & 1980’s.”
I have to admit, I like the original “Silver” Death Star concept quite a bit.

That is such a difficult question for me. I mean, would the prequels not be about Anakin’s fall?
They could have been about Obi-wan’s failure as a teacher instead.
Back to terrible ideas: The Neimodians and Trade Federation. Nothing scares me more then something called The Trade Federation. And their ships were unimposing and nonthreatening in design. Compare them to the Star Destroyer. However they did give us the best dialogue in the prequels: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gV8QO9dZKVc
^ A great idea for a thread 😃
I agree. I can’t wait to watch some of these.
oojason edit to fix a mistakenly deleted post…
Horizon - How To Film The Impossible - Remastered:
Harmy’s Horizon - How To Film The Impossible - Remastered thread, with his remastered version linked in the thread and also below:

The blurb:-
“This episode of Horizon looks at how the world’s best special effects technicians create some of Hollywood’s most spectacular film scenes.”
The Phantom Menace. It just dawned on me that the story it tells is nothing more than the backstory to the backstory. We did not need it at all. In fact we don’t need AOTC either; we could have started the PT with the opening scene of ROTS and gone from there.
Lando having a sexual relationship with his droid. It is difficult to believe that someone NOT named George Lucas could come up with that.
Anakin and Obi Wan did wear some armor in The Clone Wars, and mind the salty language.
Correct (and it looked good), and I will.
Jedi Robes. Put on some armour you dumb fucks!
Admiral Holdo’s hyperspace-kamikaze in The Last Jedi. I mean, why hasn’t anyone used this in any space battle before, ever?
+100000000000000000000.
Also: NOT having Mandalorians as the main evil faction in the Prequels. WTF was Lucas thinking???!?!?!
What are the worst ideas in Star Wars? I will start with two. First; the conception of the Jedi being a creepy-weirdo-religious cult that takes children away from it’s parents and views “attachments” as something to be avoided.
Second; the nature of the force as presented in ESB. If there is no difference between moving a rock and moving a starfighter, then it follows that there is no difference between a starfighter and a Star Destroyer or a Star Destroyer and the Death Star, or…etc. THE FORCE IS ^$#@% OVERPOWERED.
I liked the idea that it was Luke’s destiny to go into the Dark Side, learn it’s secrets, and then come out of it stronger for that knowledge. If he is going to rebuild the Jedi Order it would make sense for him to want to know how a Jedi could fall in the first place, yes? I also like that he is only able to come back because of his connection to Leia; attachments are a good thing and not something to be avoided.
More please!!
There’s a Star Wars themed watering hole in Hollywood that might!
