Are you recreating the original version of Jurassic Park?
Sorry, what original version?
Are you recreating the original version of Jurassic Park?
Sorry, what original version?
Do you think you’d be be able to replace Hammonds voice in his first few scenes to remove the Scottish accent which he completely loses by the time they get to the island?
Probably not.
I just ran into a mistake; I accidentally switched one of the shots in the timeline.
I’ll re-render both versions tomorrow. sorry.
This is why quality control matters.
Let’s be real, Magenta was THE color of the 90’s, and with Jurassic Park being a 90’s icon, I genuinely thought that is how it was supposed to look.
Thanks for this regrade! The preservation section of this website has been a rabbit hole.
No, not really. Magenta is the color of 90’s blu-ray masters. not the films themselves. Spiegelberg specifically wanted a warm, high contrast feel for Jurassic Park, so that it would feel nostalgic. And the opposite for the lost world: cooler, darker but with less contrast:
Ok. I just finished rendering the smaller encode. still rendering the bigger one…
Woowww what an amazing project! Thank you for doing that ❤️
Question, are you using the scenes from 3D BD version that includes various fixes for safety cables visible in some scenes, etc.:

That will be done in the fan edit:
https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Jurassic-Park-DEVASTATOR-EDITION-Pre-Production/id/128382
Ok. I’m rendering it now. there will be two files, Large (4K), and smaller (HD).
Hey everyone, it’s ThatGuyWithNoName back with another insane unimportant fan-edit.
This time it’s for Jurassic Park. I’m currently working on two separate Fan edits/preservations of Star Wars (DevEd, 4K77 Fully Remastered). So I’ve decided to clear my head a little with a Fan edit of Jurassic Park, A la DevEd and/or Star Wars Revisited. I’ve completed the color grade and semi-restoration:https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Jurassic-Park-4K-Blu-Ray-CC-and-Remaster-ALMOST-COMPLETED/id/128312
All the help I need from you is to tell me all the mistakes/errors you’ve noticed over the years so I can draft a preliminary change list.
tech specs:
Resolution/aspect ratio: 4k, 3840x2076.
Audio Tracks:
. 4K bluray 7.1 Track (Remixed into 5.1)
. 3D blu-ray 5.1 Remix
Current change list:
. Color Correction/Grade
. Cleanup/resotration of degraded shots.
Let Pre-production of JP:DevEd begin! (name is still a wip).

sorry about the “Fan Made” subtitle, I’m also posting this on youtube so I couldn’t say “TGWNN” as no one would know who that is.
Hey everyone. just wanted to let everyone know this is available again on Google Drive.
PM me for the link.
The colors look amazing, your description of the horrible colors of the UHD edition could fit perfectly with the 2011 BR of Star Wars, now, I have a question. Do you plan to add any language to your version? Since it would be great to be able to see and hear it in castilian, I’m just asking if it’s possible of course.
Definitely. Just provide me with the audio track and I’ll add it in.
so far the audio tracks are as follows:
The colors of Jurassic Park on HD+ media have always looked horrible, the key word is magenta. Magenta, magenta and magenta. The picture is also over saturated, which makes the effects shots (which usually are over saturated themselves) look 1000 times worse. I’ve done a complete Color correction and grade, bringing it closer to the warmer hue of 35mm Film, while keeping it modern and neutral. (in context, they may look too warm, but I promise you alone they look magnificent, This ain’t the 3D BD) I’ve also Color corrected all the effects shots to match the surrounding shots (there are usually blown out highlights while simultaneously being muted) aswell as over-saturation which has to be corrected. Excessive noise has been reduced in several shots (raptor shot used as example below) and one shot (Genaro talking to Hammond) has been partially replaced by an upscale of the Blu-ray; For some reason, the 4K Blu-ray shot starts out with a regular image, then fades in to a very degraded, seemingly 35mm source. This is not present on the 2011 Blu-ray, so the shot has been partially replaced.
This so-called “master” will be used as the basis for a Jurassic Park fanedit I’m currently planning, A La “revisited”.

Project is complete. You can PM me for it.
To keep things involving the effort to revise the prequel trilogy edits one more time and include an alternate set of them to be more ‘maximalist’ and retain the original titles mostly within this one thread, I wanted to ask:
Are there any higher quality sources for the deleted scenes? Currently I have AI upscales that are a few years old. Nothing wrong with them, but I don’t know if there is anything better out there.
Also, I could still use an AI line to replace 3PO’s line in ROTS while taking off for Mustafar, “I think I’m beginning to get the hang of this flying business, hmm.”
Everything else I think I can get through myself, at a snail’s pace.
If you wanna try a different way to fix the goofy Threepio line, you can actually retime the whole scene to make it feel like Padme rushed off to Mustafar, which allows you to cut the line entirely: https://drive.google.com/file/d/14-Rc2iWT4QsNdRuAMAW0qER5ke_28Uuw/view?usp=drive_link
If it means anything. I can’t even tell what was changed, Seems normal to me? So congrats it works.
I cut the shot of Obi-Wan hiding in Harry Potter’s closet, and massively trimmed the two-shot of Padme and Threepio right before take off to get rid of the weird line that Hal was referring to. The precise way that I trimmed it hides the cut in the music track, so you don’t feel like anything is missing.
Cool to see how much was cut without it being noticeable to a non-prequel watcher. Great work man.

Thoughts, comments, and concerns are not only welcomed, but encouraged.
Edit: I recommend deloading this one, and looking closely, the background has SO MUCH DIRT!
I’d be down for an alternate audio track that restores all the unused music. Hell, I’ve even thought about doing a custom mix for ESB:R that restored all the unused music for Empire.
That would be fitting considering that ANH:R has an extra track.
The bottom is just a color graded Blu-ray. Is that supposed to be like that?
Forgot To post here… Again (please just go follow this on the SWTF pleeease.
Post:
As I promised, here it is:
Besides the scratch on Tarkin’s face (which I’m currently working to find a solution for)
This will be how the final release looks. I hope this longer shot gives you an idea of the quality.

(BTW, it might seem darker than the original, which it is but that’s because the original is blown out. There are cases where I have to darken and cases where I have to make things brighter, it was the former here, but I made sure that the blacks didn’t get crushed.
Please leave any feedback or concerns, I’d like to know your thoughts so be honest.
I think still having to argue with people over why the original should be on Blu-Ray and 4K and Han why Han shooting second is stupid, 20 years after we signed a petition to the get the original released just to get Lynn Hale’s spiel, kind of makes me think it’s a lost cause.
I have 4K77 and I’m reasonably happy with it.
It won’t be lost because the British Film Archive and Library of Congress have the original. Its just not available to the general public. Unless you have out of print DVD, VHS or laserdisc. Yeah none of those is theatrically accurate but whatever.
Does that mean that the original negatives are archived in a place where they are available for scanning at any time today? From what source do you get this information? It is really very interesting
Not negatives no, but LOC do have 35mm prints they have scanned and archived. I’m almost 100% certain BFI has done the same. But I don’t have some inside knowledge.
Lucasfilm has the negatives, and it is true that the O-neg is conformed to the 1997 edit. But they saved all the trims. What is lost is the original color reversal negative, all the wipes and dissolves. Anyone who says they can’t do a restoration is being foolish. It’s not about the money, it’s not about can it be done. It is all about George, he hates the original and does not want it restored.
This has never been confirmed, some say that George tossed those trimmings. Why would he keep them?
It has indeed been confirmed, mate. Back in 2017…
‘20th Century Fox’s Senior Vice President of Library and Technical Services, Shawn Belston, confirmed that all of the “trims” removed from the original cut negative (in the mid-1990s, to create the SEs) still exist as well.’

Oh wow. I’ve been doing a lot of research the past two years writing a script for a video essay, this is the first time I’ve seen confirmation! thanks oojason! This and your other “unreliable narrator” thread have been very helpful to me. I’ll make sure to correctcmy script. thanks again.

Love that they left the natural grain in… so beautiful!
I just heard the music track entitled “Obi-Wan’s Revelation” for the first time. Interestingly it was removed from the final film. I’m curious as to people’s opinions on the track and if it should be reinstated?
Does seriously nobody care about this unreleased ROTJ track I found? 😭😂
Sorry dude, not every post gets replies.
But someone has already tried it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFz8W7fYMy4
This feels so correct. I wasn’t even aware the original didn’t have music.
Adywan, please consider this!
I’m starting to see ads on the site… is this something new or am I just seeing things…
Edit: just saw the post. nevermind.

The restoration has already been done… by the hobbyists and fans.
Library of Congress was never given an original negative, it was the Special Edition right?
a bit late, but no. They only ever later received 35mm-prints to maintain copyright (which you can schedule to watch there) so in an ironic way, George didn’t want these films to be available, but he also didn’t want to stop owning them.
