STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

Not to be a pain, but after rewatching the droid removal shot comp you posted a while back. It’s spectacular, But I noticed that in the top section of the clip near the edge of the wall, there seems to be a misalignment of sources:

Just wanted to bring this to your attention.

Honestly, I’m starting to get very fearful right now.

What are you talking about? Are you ok?

Sorry, I just feel extremely worried about all these things that kept getting in the way of the Revisited edits being finished.

Pretty selfish viewpoint, no? Not “I’m worried about adywan” but “I’m worried I won’t get to see Revisited.”

To be fair, it’s entirely possible that Adywan has been working on Revisited for this user’s entire life. 😉

Something i promised to show a while ago but ended up completely forgetting about, was the shot of Luke’s shuttle escaping the Death Star. So here it is:

That shot took a hell of a lot of work. I had to slow down the gantry and other elements, yet keep the camera movement and the shuttle at the original speed, then track and add the new background. Couldn’t use the original stars to track because they suddenly stop their movement before the end in the original.

It looks perfect. There really isn’t much to say… you’ve done it!

Here you go everybody:

Dr Dre’s color Matching tool v1.2 (latest version) for 64 bit Windows*:

https://ln.sync.com/dl/e51125f10/njry8grb-juw5i7vz-ttrapwci-cb4cxh9j (385 MB)

Dr Dre’s color Matching tool v1.2 (latest version) for 64 bit OSX:

https://ln.sync.com/dl/89689baa0/6c22akdh-3ct3f4wr-mwmscjkw-5q7xg6hb (10 MB)**

* If you have a 64 bit version of Windows AND you have more than 4 GB of RAM AND you need to color match two giant images (4k or 8k with 16-bit color, or 2 giant 8K size montages of images, then it would be worth uninstalling the 32-bit version and downloading and installing the 64-bit version. I don’t think you will find it is any faster under “normal use” situations.

** Why is the mac version so much smaller? Simple really: in 2014, Matlab enhanced it’s package builder with some new features, one of which is an option to download the runtime package from the internet during install. The windows version was compiled with the 2012 compiler, which doesn’t have this option (or the option to change the icon and splash screen).

Enjoy!

If you have any issues with the new versions, let us know.

Does this setup still work?

Tried installing, but everything closes after Visual C++ 2005 configuration. The Runtime Install window never opens.

Only R2017b and later versions work for me, I guess because they changed the installer?

EDIT: Nvm, the one here works without a hitch: https://valeyard.net/2017/03/drdres-color-matching-tool-v1-2.php

Tried the OS X version and on my Mac Studio (M1 MAX 32GB RAM) on macOS 15.3 and it just crashes after like 2% downloaded, so pretty quickly after launch.

Williarob recently recompiled it for Mac recently, and it works. He is currently testing it. Wait, it’ll be here soon.

Star Wars: A New Hope DEVASTATOR EDITION (V.2 a WIP)

Quick reminder of the main source and its problems.
The 2011 Blu-ray is bad, really bad. Adywan’s grade with all its luster couldn’t correct a lot of the Blu-ray’s big problems, including but not limited to: DNR, Large Grain to disguise the DNR, Smearing or other artifacts on the first frame of some shots, and of course, Blown out highlights and crushed black levels.
The 2019 Blu-ray has been used to correct these problems, but the detail amount on the Blu-ray overpasses anything the 2011 has to offer (For ANH at least):

while I’m currently following the “2011 as a source with 2019 bits and pieces throughout,” this might very well change for a later version “V.3?”. So just keep that in mind.

On your February 3rd Facebook post, you said you’d reveal “by the end of the week” what was done to fix the falling gantry, but you never did.

I’ve been following Ady’s work for over a decade now. What I’ve learned is this… “If Adywan says he’s planning to do something, then something will get in his way.”

Have a good read of all his Revisited threads here from the beginning. You will see a man beset by bad luck, faulty equipment, garden fence catastrophe, poor health and family tragedy. But he persists, his work on these edits has almost taken him twenty years.

So assuming he hasn’t been crushed by a falling chandelier, assaulted by a disgruntled chimpanzee, or blinded by an exploding fire extinguisher then updates will be along at some point, I’m sure.

I remember he actually had his external drives fail when he was nearing completion of ANH:R SD, and had to start over. The man is very persevering.

Watching the opening scenes on another thread reminded me of this and forgive me if I’ve already posted it. When the Tantive 4 us being pulled in to the hanger of the Devastator you can hear what sounds like the docking claw scrape the hull and then the film cuts to an exterior shot and the claw hasn’t made contact. If the shots were resequenced you could have the exterior followed by the interior and the scraping sound would carry more impact. Maybe the claw could be slightly animated like its opening in readiness for the ship. Also could Threepio just say “There will be no escape this time”? I’m sure there is a wookiepedia page devoted to why he pretends not to know who Leia is to Luke but he doesn’t need to mention the Princess anyway as she is mentioned in the crawl.

All of these changes not only have been confirmed, but have already been done:

this is a reupload (ady’s original post was taken down), and whoever reuploaded it upscaled it to 4K, but it’s still intact.

Alright, here’s a big update: I’ve finally purchased a new Mac Pro! If you don’t know, my Mac Mini was stolen at the airport during a flight back from MCO (Orlando) to my home in NYC. It was such a horrible experience that I’ve never been able to recover any of my files. For the past two years, I’ve been working off a MacBook Air that I bought temporarily, which ended up becoming my permanent solution.

After saving for a few months, I’ve finally purchased a fully spec’d out Mac Pro! I can finally get back to finishing all my promised edits and projects: 4k77 Remastered, Hal’s COD project update, and of course, this. I’ll post a clip when I receive it as a celebration. Stay tuned!

Excellent work! I’d love a link to check it out. It will always bewilder me how the 1990s became a decade of unbelievably bad color corrections on otherwise perfectly fine scans. Looking at you FotR!

Thanks so much.
Just PM me. That goes for everyone else who wants it. I’m notified about PMs more than I’m about regular thread posts.

Of the first film of Jurassic Park.

Jurassic park was changed for the Blu-ray release?

I don’t know. Check to see if there are changes for it. Search if there are changes for the film.

It wasn’t. This isn’t a preservation this is a fan edit, if it where a preservation it would be int he preservation thread section.

If you wanna know how to find the original ending music for “The Mummy Strikes”, send a letter to Warner Bros. Studios and ask them if they have a copy of the cartoon with the original ending music. If Warner Bros. doesn’t have one, ask DC instead.

I have two questions:

 1. Can you put all 17 fixed cartoons to Internet Archive?
 2. Can you make a Blu-ray of it and send it to my house?

Are you being serious or just trolling?
