Dish looks great! Why remove that one shot?
Because the shot starts over one shot later, ergo the Stormtrooper falls twice.

Guess the audio changes for bonus points. There are a few shots with audio changes…

Are you color correcting and restoring the original cut?
Could you stop asking this on every presentation project you see? There is no original cut. Jurassic park wasn’t altered after its theatrical release in 1993. This is just a regrade. For the love of god please read the main post before commenting. From now on I will be ignoring your posts and so should others.
The HD versions used a 16:9 cropped version from that DVD and upscaled it to HD for later releases. I saw it on Max before.
What are you talking about? It isn’t on max… You seem to have a plan to do your own upscale- great, then do it! What’s the point of this thread exactly?
Are you talking about this?
https://www.b98.tv/video/little-go-beep/
It seems that it’s ONLY ever been released in Academy ratio, as that’s what comes up when I google it…
Also, you keep referring to things as “print.s” this is misleading because it implies actual film prints. Just say versions in the future…
Bizarrely, I saw some people on twitter upset that they’re “going against George’s vision” or whatever. People are so stupid, they don’t even realize they should also respect 1977 George Lucas’ vision.
Crazy people. They must be young.
They aren’t. The most infamous one of these people is Rick Worley. The guy must be in his 40s or 50s yet still spouts the BS about George Lucas having full creative control on “his” films, even 20 years after the fact, he even called Harmy a selfish vandal…
From a color standpoint it looks horrendous. The contrast (which is already crushed to hell in the blu-ray had been cracked to 11, such completely undermines the HDR. Also, Adywan has pretty much finished the HD version and is finishing up and entering into the audio side of things (from what I can gather). I don’t recall him asking for fx help…
straight from the word press site. New Year 2025 Update:
"Back to ROTJ:R now …In a few months, once the graded source file is complete and the editing had begun, I will be putting a shout-out for help with FX work. I will need more help for this edit so I can ease the workload not only on myself but also Andreas who has been relentlessly doing the CG model work for these edits since ESB:R. So keep an eye out for this."
from a color standpoint yes. Fairly obvious, i’m talking as someone modeling, animating, etc, Ady can handle the color, AND can provide art VFX direction. Its not face value. In the work I do i’m constantly asked to tweak color, adjust things, all the time. It goes without saying. Anyways just tryin to help do some talent sourcing, but like everything on the internet, everyone’s a critic.
Also yes to him finishing up ANH, but you never know on that end, there’s probably still help that can be needed, and I was mostly doing this for ROTJ anyway. Thought that first guys stuff was solid, can do a few shots here and there and take the workload of Ady and Andreas. It takes a village
Everything I said was in the context of the second clip which is for ANH. Therefore I stand by everything I said. The ROTJ video looks pretty good, it was actually recommended to me a few days ago if you can believe it. I was just “criticizing” (which btw this is a forum not an echo chamber) the first video.
The second one is just awful. He’s made the OT look worse in order to help it be less jarring with his renders.
I mean that’s a little harsh. Anyways I remember Ady putting out a call for FX help and this stuff looked really solid. Harsh edges and things of that ilk can be adjusted with direction and revisions. You can always clean up, soften a frame, etc with time and adjustments. Anyways just saw some decent talent and thought to toss in here for some possible inspo or networking.

3.1 is the latest version as October 2021, according to Wikipedia.
Well, it says it on the title of this thread… but yes, that’s true.
Are you saying you’re making minor fixes to 3.0, even 2.5?
Why would Harmy be making changes to 2.5? 3.0 IS the new version. Why would he adjust an inferior version?
Quick update:
Seems that I accidentally uploaded an older version of the sequence without all the finished shots…
Here’s the correct version with a Photo and video comp:

I’m currently working on a comparison. But I’d like to see who can name all the changes…

The shot with the Devastator’s gunnery officer, and the shot looking through the pod window, are especially good! Great work!!!
Thanks! It took a lot of time to roto all of that…

What software did you use to color correct the film to make it resemble the 35mm film?
DaVinci Resolve.

This is teeny-tiny niggle from an animator who has composited WAY too many blast effects - you might wanna adjust the opacity/blending mode of the smoke effect that is sitting over the sparkler to better match the wide shot. I used to composite blasts the way you’ve got it now, but after doing a million of them, I switched the way I layered/masked them and the results were much better.
You don’t need to change what you’ve got, I’m the only one on Planet Earth who will notice, lol! But if you composited the effect in AE, I’d be happy to take a quick look at it. Bottom line, this is amazing work!!!
In what way? It’s not on any blending mode. The element itself has a transparent background, changing it to screen or lowering the opacity will just reveal what’s behind it. I did this composite in Resolve’s Fusion.
Re-did the Falcon shot without all that stupid added grain. I don’t know what I was thinking putting a layer of grain over the already over-grained Blu-ray:

It’s done:

Hey everyone, quick question… for the Greedo sequence, do you prefer the subtitles to fade in and out, or just to end?
That guy with no name said:
Spiegelberglol
That’s my fault for using grammarly. 😭

Facebook Update from Adywan
Hi Everyone.
Just a quick update. Haven’t been able to be active online at all lately due to internet issues. Changed our internet from copper broadband to full-fibre broadband ( going from 60mb to 500mb for £10 less a month than i was paying for the slower speeds) and things didn’t go very smoothly . Had hardly any connection since its been installed. Engineer visits keep getting cancelled along with provider and installer passing the buck as to who’s fault it is all the time. Can’t even switch back to the old copper broadband because they removed the copper connection going to the house ( which they weren’t supposed to do).
Anyway, just want to say a big than you to everyone that donated. We hit the target to raise the $1000 so it has now been matched by the kind donator. It’s such a shame that the pound is so strong against the dollar at the moment with $1000USD converting to about £750.00GBP, so still a little way off the £2000 target for the monitor /drives. I have the wash and cure station and 3d printer all set up and the monitor , while out of stock at the moment, will be in stock mid next week so i will be picking that up the moment it is in stock.
Don’t know when my connection will get sorted so i may be quiet for a while if they cancel next weeks appointment again
Thanks again
Good news.
Here’s what I have so far, banged out relatively quickly:
Any pointers or things I should add/tweak?
PM’ed you.
No May the 4th update?
I cannot teach him. The boy has no patience.
He turn to the dark side…😵💫
Sorry. I have to be more responsible with what I say on here.
It’s ok. Don’t be too hard on yourself…
This is a call for help or advice:
There is a continuity error during the last battle after Obi-Wan is killed and Luke is firing his blaster like a madman… Han tells him to lock the door, and he shoots the door panel- fine.
The problem is that once we cut to insert the door panel, it is a completely different version, and it seems to be a zoomed-in version of a previous explosion during the Cellblock ambush. Using visual reference, I’ve constructed the door panel (which there is no example of online) using simple shapes. I need someone to create a 3D model of not only the panel but the wall so that I can comp in an explosion. If anyone has any experience with 3D modeling, that would be very helpful. Other advice or ideas are also welcome.
