Team Negative1 - Return of the Jedi 1983 - 35mm Theatrical Version (unfinished project)
Time

There are some cue marks from one of the prints here:

=================================

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Star-Wars-Tantives-Orange-Items-Thread-other-unintended-objects/post/710802/#TopicPost710802

At the most, its 8 frames for 6 reels of the film. (For the other films, it is 5 reels).

Bonus Material You'd Like to See Released
Time

There is already too much deleted and bonus footage already, maybe if it was placed in a better context and organized it would be worth it.

For now, the footage has been out for years, and nothing has really been done with it, except for 1 edit. We are only now just getting some cleaned versions of the clips.

Just enjoy what's out already, and forget about getting anymore. It's not likely to happen.

We'll be posting a short clip with the orange marks in them:

Along with the cue marks that will remain. There is a chance of doing a 'Plus' version without the marks and further cleanup in it. We haven't decided on that yet.

Star Wars on Super8 (Released)
Time

We hope to have this version appear on myspleen in awhile also:

======================================

This is the new version, that should become a standard, especially replacing Puggo's 16mm for film fans of the original.

We have made a combined version:

======================

1 Cropped and resized to correct 1080p

2 Patched 2 minutes+ that was missing after Reel 2, with LPP scan

3 Added stereo audio (NOT GOUT compatible)

4 Fixed duplicate scene in Reel 3

This new Grindhouse 8mm version is a much more reasonable 8 Gigs,

without much loss in quality.

Things left as an exercise for viewers:

======================

1 Color correction

2 Altering 35mm LPP footage to a lower resolution, and grain

3 Adding Greedo subtitles

4 Adding other soundtracks

5 Fixing a few sound sync issues, due to missing and damaged frames

6 Clean up and dirt scratch removal on the first half of film.

We figure someone will make it work with GOUT, subtitles, etc.

Have fun with it.

Team Negative1 - The Empire Strikes Back 1980 - 35mm Theatrical Version (Released)
Time

We hope to have the ESB deconstructed version appearing at the myspleen site in awhile.

Details:

Here is an archive of original scan of the first print we had.

There are 2 versions included here:

using selected reels:

----------------------------------------------------------

2 - 3 prints [original, Eastman, and Fuji]

3 - 4 prints [of reel 3]

The first can be used as a reference version, although a

small segment of Reel 2 has been inserted.

This is for people to see the origin of our scans, and

how some of it was used for the Grindhouse version.

You can experiment with fixing it, and to see a color reference,

we have included a 720p downscale also.

Idea & Info: Star Wars Deleted Scenes - Reincorporated?
Time

If you notice, this cut is different, because in the fully restored version, there is a person walking past them, that is not present here.

Also, a weird continuity error, where C3PO is looking at R2D2 at the beginning from the 5-10 second mark, which should be pushed much later in the shot.

This might have been a different take.

Regardless, we are going through all the deleted footage.

Here is one of the first passes at a restored scene, where Luke meets Biggs. There is a jump cut around 17 seconds, that will be smoothed, also it will be stabilized.

No color correction was done.

We are not actually using the laserdiscs as references, but just presenting them for comparison.

There are quite a few threads about the colors on the laserdiscs, so asking there, would be a better idea.

Some of the shots do match up pretty well at times, and others do not. It varies with the laserdisc versions, and when they were released.

We will be doing an extensive color correction when the time comes.

The colors from the 97SE vary from the other prints we have, and are a loose reference.

Check out the comparisons here:

The LPP and other sources we have are accurate enough.

Cleanup is several steps, including physical cleanup on the print with chemical solutions by hand. Then it is scanned, and commercial software is used for the remaining parts.

We are also replacing damaged frames with better sources, and higher resolution scans of frames with lost details (mostly starfields).
