Team Negative1 - The Empire Strikes Back 1980 - 35mm Theatrical Version (Released)
Time

I think all of you know that these are just temporary comparisons intended to show the results of the cleanup. We don't put up all the disclaimers anymore, because people tend not to read them.

The final versions will have some color correction done to them.

Contrast and brightness will be adjusted also. See the latest example of the Star Wars clips.

Here is a sample of the cleanup that is being done.

This is from the Head of Reel 3, with some pretty drastic differences:

NOTE : There will be further corrections done to the color afterwards.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Again, the final version will be color corrected by scene.

These are just to show off some segments that are cleaned. The color selections will be made later on.

Here is the final 3 minutes of Reel 1, up to the tail. That is usually the part with the most damage.

NOTE : There was no color correction done to this clip. There will be contrast and brightness adjustments made also.

This should give you an idea what watching a Grindhouse version would be like, there is not too much damage, except near the heads and tails, however there are artifacts throughout the movie.

There are 2 different scans, these are just test renders of the scenes. They will be adjusted accordingly when the time comes.

Here are some shots from different prints:

We are only planning a HD 1080p release, as thats the most popular format. Vimeo might have had downloads, but it takes a long time to post files there. We are only showing these previews in streaming to give an idea of what it will look like. Dailymotion is a lot more convenient for us.

There could be a future clip to post, but it would be a lot shorter, maybe a few seconds long.

Time

There is no current plans to release them concurrently. It would be nice to release Return of the Jedi first, because it has the least amount of damage, but logistics will not make it likely.

What you are seeing here, are the clips that Harmy has, and will be getting for his version. We will incorporate our own version later on, and will also be integrating other scans for replacement frames, if needed.

We haven't even started on the cleanup for FUJI Empire Strikes Back, so it's possible that will be last.

Star Wars is our first priority, and always will be. Since we are working on parallel on some of the projects, that is speeding up some of the timetable, but we are still so far away, we can't even predict when they will be done.

Here is the last current state of the project:

We are anticipating to have a preview workprint in a few months, and previews of Reel 1 and 6 also. We are hoping for a release this year so we can move onto the other projects.

Also, someone asked about donations, since we are currently funded, we are not looking for any.

If you were not on the blogs, the only way to get the early preview is to participate here or on reddit, with appropriate on-topic comments.

Then we might consider you for addition to the list of other people.
