Exactly. This is just a quick private preview. We are moving on the improved versions, and there's no point in putting in 3 revisions that we are working on.

All you need is a quick preview, and then we'll move onto doing the polishing. We would rather work on actually improving it, than spend time posting links and previews. We've been doing that for 3 years now.

The cleanup was the biggest effort, and that's what we were emphasizing.

Thanks for comments again. We're not too concerned about compression settings or artifacts in the early previews.

Also, we'll post it for anyone else that wants to check it out, and see the cleanup work done on it, which is the focus. (Not the detail, as we've stated.)

We have already replaced the dark scenes and starfield shots, so thats taken care of also.

There will be another preview and thats all we have time for, before getting back to working on it.

We'll let you know when it's ready.

Update: As another milestone, Reel 4 has been finished cleaning.

The entire movie is going through the first pass. We are making our second workprint now, and a third one will come later with replacement shots.

The movie is starting to take shape, and looks great.

At some point, blog members will be considered for the workprints.

Also, we are considering mailing a disc for those that contributed to our project.

Thanks

Hi everyone, thanks for the comments. We understand issues with the detail being low.

We will have a another, hopefully improved preview, using replacement shots for a lot of the darker sequences. And will work on the encoder settings, to improve those for more detail.

We still have a way to go before we consider having a workprint preview.

We will definitely consider your advice as we continue. The next preview should be out in a few weeks.

Thanks again for everyone taking the time to check it out.

Thanks for the responses. Please read the information concerning the preview before asking questions.

This preview is just that, an early preview of Reel 1:
*****************************************************************
- Various shots have different aspect ratios. They will be consistent later on.

- The intro/lucasfilm/alta/Crawl have been cleaned and slightly corrected

- NO Color Correction has been done on the remaining parts. Some shots are very dark,
and will be replaced, along with the starfield scenes.

- No deflicker or degraining has been done.

- Slight cropping has been done on the clips.

- Though the clips have been cleaned for the first pass, there is still some fine dirt,
spots, and green lines that will be removed also.

- Sound is temporary Stereo 35mm mix.
*****************************************************************

Thanks

If you want a nice Fullscreen version, check out the CED versions:

If you want to do it in Black and White, the EIAJ tape version, is perfect for the low fidelity look of a late 70's TV show.

As pointed out in this post, we have a projector similar to this:

=====================================

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/team-negative1-star-wars-1977-35mm-theatrical-version-release-details-and-updates/post/715948/#TopicPost715948

We are using something like a professional Red Video camera (Not this one):

==============================================

The video is captured directly from the projector, not off any surface.

Also, the sound is captured directly through the Dolby Digital decoder. (Again, not our machine, but similar to this)
