Why did you use dvd shrink instead of just copying the files direct?

How creative is that ? They've had nearly 10 years to think of something a little more original. Grrrrr.

Wow. I really wish they came to the artists on this site.

Erm, hasn't this been available for years anyway I've had it for ages.

What are you talking about? I bought two of them last Feb at Wal Mart for $5.50 ea.

FAN EDIT REQUEST THREAD - Post your dream Fan Edits Here!
Time
Restoration of the Director' s Cut of Manhunter is my request. The Anchor Bay 2 disc set has a horrible transfer of this on the second disc. Who ever set up the transfer screwed it up and cropped it. It looks likes like a 3rd generation VHS copy, The picture is fuzzy and soft. I would like to see three versions, The Theatrical cut, The Directors Cut and what I call the Cable Version cut on a three disc special edition.

"O Lucky Man" - 3 hour version - preservation (Released)
Time
I just so happened to record this from INHD a few months ago. I was unable to do a direct HD rip but I did record it to my hard drive in HQ format from S-video out at Standard Definition. The result was it took 3 DVDs in the transfer Process at 1 hour per dvd. This was at the highest bitrate my system could do and the highest quality I could manage at the time. The Picture is Letterbox with the INHD logo in the lower right hand corner of the picture (Not in the black bars) there is some very brief pixelation just after the opening credits (from the source not due to the transfer process or the encoding) but overall the picture quality is good if just a tad soft. I considered myself lucky to be able to record it at all.

So Fine may not be considered his finest movie, but some of us appreciated his work.

My Favorite was N.Y.P.D. (no, not NYPD Blue). I loved the way that show opened with the camera mounted on the roof of the patrol car Bubble Gum Ball Light roatating away as the car raced down the streets of New York. It was gritty, shot on location with the feel of a 1960's news "Film at 11" type broadcast. The sound of the show when they were out on the street, you could hear everything ,kids down the street playing, people walking, car horns. Jack Warden was the hardnose experienced detective Mike Haines and Frank Converse as the younger less experienced Detective, Johnny Corso. The only show of recent vintage that came close was "Homicide" I think that show's style was a direct copy of N.Y.P.D.

Quote from TV.com which I'm sure got this from some other uncredited source.
"This series paints a tough, realistic portrait of the work of the New York City Police Department. Filmed on location, N.Y.P.D. utilizes the highly mobile hand-held camera and stream-of-consciousness narrative."

Watched "Run Silent Run Deep" tonight with the wife. A younger Jack gave a fine performance as Kraut Mueller.

Jack Warden R.I.P. you will be missed.

I actually got a tape of it months before it's theatrical release. It must be some sort of preview version(temp music, etc...), it's a MUCH, MUCH darker version of the film. They totally pussified Dr. Frankenstein in the release version...all of his mania is gone.
I should capture and post it somewhere.

Sounds like you got a workprint. Do you still have it?

Idea: MAX HEADROOM - a preservation?

When looking in storage for my Indiana Jones stuff, I found a bunch of VHS tapes I made of Max Headroom. This was recorded off of Sci-Fi Network when they had a Maxathon Marathon of the entire shows run. This show was GREAT, and after watching a few episodes, it still holds up very well today. The transfers look great, and this show can not be found in an offical release. I don't have the BBC version of the pilot, or the talkshows. This is just the prime time network run episodes.

Anyone think this needs preservation?

I have tapes from the original ABC broadcasts, I also have a tape of the original BBC Pilot as well as some of the Max Headroom Cinemax shows, If you need anything contact me.

I've seen the video in better shape on youtube, even though they compress their videos like crazy. What's up with video being from a beat up tape and window boxed on all four sides. I mean, did Lucasfilm upload it.

I was so dissapointed in the quality and the fact that I could not copy it from youtube, then Saturday Night Live repeated it and I was able to record it. I do have it in decent quality.
