Did you still have plans for the showing hints that Palpatine is controlling Snoke when he his sliced in half? Suggestions have been showing Snoke with dark side yellow eyes and a blue essence leaving his body.

First off, super impressed how fast you are getting these sample edits out…well done.
For me personally, I feel the force connection between Rey and Kylo at the ends needs to stay as it’s a critical setup for TROS and really just a great scene overall and would hate to see it removed. So, I feel 4A is best the option to incorporate in V3.
However, the fact that Palpatine says “I have been the voices in your head” in TROS I kinda like the idea of 4C as well as we are hearing Palpatine voice in Kylo’s mind. Tough choice! I would happy with either 4A or 4C as they both include the Force connection.
I’ve been thinking about the cave scene and the reveal of Rey’s parent. I personally believe it will be better to leave the scene as is and not incorporate the hood silohoutte and this why.
Rey went into the cave to reveal her parents so why would the cave show her grandparent (Palpatine)? She even says “show me my parents” in the cave
The vibe I’m getting is there will be two edit types of TROS. One version will the keep Palpatine as Rey’s grandfather and the other version will keep Rey as a nobody. By having Palpatine’s reveal as Rey’s grandfather in Poppa’s TLJ edit then you only get one choice of the version of TROS to watch. So if you prefer Poppa’s TLJ edit but would prefer Rey to be a nobody in TROS then it does not flow (however, this could just be my OCD kicking in!).
My interpration of the scene is the cave purposely did not show Rey her parents because it was trying give her more reason to go to the dark side as she desperately wants to find her parents. She even force reaches out to Kylo Ren because of this. I think the scene work as is.
With all the Palpatine return clues being incorporated into V3 such as Palpatines laugh in the Luke/Kylo flashback, Snoke’s eyes turning yellow after he is cut in half and the radio broadcast I personally don’t think the hood silhouette is needed in the cave scene.
All good points, but the fact Kylo and Rey is showing a force connection after Snoke is dead (as we are lead to believe Snoke was manipulating this bond) is important to the audience going into TROS. The force connection between Kylo and Rey is still occurring in TROS and really the only major thing JJ did not retcon from TLJ in TROS.
I just think it could be confusing in TROS as to why they still have this Force connection if the scene of Kylo and Rey still showing they have force connection at the end of TLJ is removed.
It’s one of the reasons I’m thinking of keeping V2 for those that would prefer not to have the extra Palpatine stuff (or at least not this scene).
It appears you will not please everyone with teasing Palpatine’s return in TLJ so think this is the best option. Have a Rekindled: Classic (V2) and Rekindled:Palpatine Returns (V3).
I personally like the radio broadcast and see no reason the Kylo and Rey force connection can’t stay. I think the scene works well.
If the ending of the broom boy scene is removed does this now mean the scene of Finn and Rose in Canto Bight where we see broom boy being whipped is now obsolete?
This was only added in poppa V2 edit to give more context to broom boy. If the broom boy is removed at the end at the movie then the scene is pointless. The scene does give a bit more background on Rose backstory so maybe broom boy could be removed it possible.
I think the ideas in this thread are brilliant, but I really don’t think the audio broadcast at the end of TLJ works. It’s too cartoony and forced to have Palpatine speak through a random radio at the very climax of two important characters interactions.
I disagree, the way I interpret it is Palpatine has sensed Luke has died and decided to come out of hiding. He would be keeping track of Kylo through the force and is able to communicate to him through the radio. Also, considering all the other “cartoony” moments we get in the ST movies I think most ppl watching this scene would find it acceptable as a subtle way of teasing Palpatines return.
What do you think about the idea of a spiritual essence leaving Snoke’s body after it’s cut in half?
For this reveal to play out in TLJ naturally I think there has to be a build up, sprinkling strong hints throughout the film of a Snoke/Palpatine and Rey/Palpatine connection would go along way, this can be done by adding the blue smoke from ROTJ as Snoke gets cut in half, also hinting at Rey’s sinister ancestry in the cave scene could be done by playing the Sith whispers from TPM as a hooded silhouette stares back at her in the mirror.
I agree, it would be great to have other clues scattered around TLJ for Palpatines return in IX.

Anyone wondering what the broadcast from Palpatine sounds like here is the transmission. Its about 25 seconds. Not sure if you need to cut any of it but it may too long for the scene
Could the broadcast be incorporated in the scene where Kylo is on his knees. Have the broadcast play in the background? The music could be change to use a subtle Imperial March theme.
For TROS, I want to look at hinting at Palpatine a couple of times after the battle of Crait ends, either using the radio or end credits (or both). I think that’s precisely what was always missing from the end of TLJ, because the way it ended left nothing to anticipate for TROS.
My personal preference would be to have the message from the Palpatine audio from Fortnite used in a radio broadcast in the Battle of Crait after Luke dies. If possible, have it appear that only Kylo Ren hears the broadcast.
Yeah I think that makes sense. Luke’s gone, Kylo-Ren is in charge of the First Order, the Resistance nearly crushed, and he figures everyone else will fall in line. His big comeback also attract Rey, who will either replace him or restore his power (when he drains her and Ren).

OK, so an idea if you decide to do a TLJ V3 edit. After Luke dies on Achto and Kylo is holding the fake dice the transmission from Palpatine is heard in the background on the radio. Palpatine has sensed Luke has died and is ready to come out of hiding. If there are any other clues through out the movie that Snoke is a puppet of Palps such as his essence leaving his body when he is cut in half etc.
By having Palps transmission in TLJ do we still need to have Kylo finding Palps at the end of the movie as the movie now ends with knowing Palp’s will be in the Episode 9? If he does, then I was thinking the beginning scene of Kylo finding the Sith Wayfarer could be a flashback in Episode9.
This Fortnite tie-in is nuts. I wonder if we’ll be able to get a clean recording. Would be nice to have options for how to use it.
The idea of having Palpatine on the radio in the battle of Crait is a great idea…I just wonder if we could expand the idea of using the Palpatine transmission audio from Fortnite instead of just the laugh.
Let’s hope they have Extended Edition available similar to BvS that will fill in the plot holes. The extended version of BvS fixed this movie for a lot of ppl including me. Ironically, TROS has the same writer as BvS which seems to follow the same beats with critical scenes missing from the movie.
I think if Kylo finding Palpatine was moved to the end of Episode 8, then it could mirror TFA with Rey finding Luke
Yes, spot on…Episode 8 would actually finish on a cliff hanger.
The opening scene of Kylo finding the Sith GPS device could be used as a flashback in TROS to show how he found Palpatine. Also, the scene of him finding Palps shows the Snoke clones in vat so his death in TLJ would not be such an inconvenience as we would now know that Palps was Snoke all along when the credits roll.
Just a crazy idea for an edit version if someone is willing. What about ending TLJ with Kylo Ren finding Palpatine instead of broom boy ending. It would have to be worked into the ending some how but could be achievable. Obviously the text crawl would have to change in Ep9. How cool would TLJ ending be with Palpatine offering his fleet to Kylo Ren.

Just wondering would you consider doing a “purist” edit as well by keeping the origional ending in place with Rey handing the light saber to Luke but keeping all your other edits in place? This would allow us to watch other TLJ edits and watching your TFA edit together.
From the multiple edits I have watched of TLJ done by the great fan edits here, there isn’t one that will tick all boxes. For me personally, the best edit is TLJ:Rekindled by poppasketti as this edit keeps most of the movie intact. The worst \ cringy parts of the movie have been removed including Poe’s mama joke, Luke guzzling the green milk, Leia’s force space walk, nearly all of Canto Bight, Phasma and Finn fight removed and Rose and Finn’s awkward smooch on the battlefield. These are all great changes and make the movie enjoyable. However, the perfect edit for me would be all these changes but the Phasma and Finn fight re-introduced, the deleted scene of Luke’s third lesson and Holdo’s hair colour changed from purple to brown.
The other edit I enjoy is ForceGhostRecon Last of the Jedi (Purist version) where it does have the the deleted scene of Luke’s third lesson and the Leia’s force space walk. But it does not show Finn and Roses backstory and Rose suddenly appears out of no where on Crait which I believe will cause consistency issues with Episode 9. These are both great edits but I don’t there is a perfect edit that will tick all boxes.
I’m looking forward to the changes to Holdos hair. The purple hair really bugged me. Also, great idea with Luke lifting the rocks. The scene of Rey lifting the rocks like superman with no training also bugged me. I hope you get the deleted scene issues sorted out.
In the new book Secrets of the Jedi Luke refers to himself as a Jedi Master. I also feel mentioning the Unknown Region in the crawl feels a bit more ominous.
