Star Wars OT & 1997 Special Edition - Various Projects Info (Released)
Time

I'm on the fence as well... I think they look fine "as is" but if the tweaked  versions are more true, well then go with that.

Either way these discs are going to be amazing, and my new "go-to" version, especially in light of the fact that the Blu-Rays will not include the OOT.

Edit: After looking at the pics on my desktop, as opposed to laptop, I think I prefer the tweaked pics, DJ.

The SE's are Lucas perfered versions of the films. He considers the original verisons of the films rough cuts.  I agree the original verisons of the films should be perserved and righly so I never said they should'nt be.

So a dude releases a "rough cut" into theaters, gets rich beyond imagination, then decides *20 YEARS LATER* "ya know, maybe I should finish that little movie I made way back when" and is able to get away with saying that this new-fangled version is what he intended all along?

Must be nice to live in fairy tale land... say hi to Cinderella for me.

Adywan is right, the SEs were nothing more than a proving ground for the prequels.

GOUT image stabilization - Released
Time

okay so a bit more information before I spend several more days doing a re-encode

Playing the disc back normally appears to be problem free with the exception that the timer/counter on the DVD player doesn't advance every second.  I can live with that if i have to.

But skipping chapters is what introduces the problem i described earlier where it'll play 3-4 seconds, skip back, play those same 3-4 seconds again followed by the next 3-4 seconds, and repeat ad nauseum.

Skimming thru the movie with fast-forward results in a frozen frame when hitting play.

I did not create a menu, just the base DVD.

Any ideas as to what might be causing this strange behavior?   Thanks in advance...

Rather than having two Vaders, why not play up the dual-persona angle, without revealing that Anakin is Vader?  In other words, keep Vader an off-screen villain who does terrible things, until Obi-Wan faces him and says "YOU are Vader?!?" Vader puts Obi in a Force-choke.  Obi-wan tries calling out to Anakin, who last we've seen is on the same planet.  Vader says "...is no more"

I think that would keep the suspense without all this multi-Vader silliness...

Obiwan would sense who Vader is and Vader's response helps to seal the deal: Obi asks," YOU are Lord Vader?" Vader should attack him ferociously. Obi starts,"...Anakin..." Vader finally speaks, cutting him off, "is no more."  The audience whould be convinced the other student survived.

Love this idea!!

I'm doing some brainstorming myself.  More later.
