Disney's Beauty and the Beast [spoRv] BD-25 (Released)

top, before; bottom, second attempt (click for JPG lossy bigger version - sorry, filesize too big for PNG hosting...):

top, before; bottom, second attempt (click for PNG lossless bigger version):

I darkened a bit the image, but details should be there now.

About the fact that this pink blanket should be there: really I don't know; some expert is needed to answer this question.

I must add that it may be due to the actual film degradation, and the telecine process brought it to video...

Info: Our projects released thread
Time

Good job, You_Too! I like the fact that you restored the blue where the blu-ray has teal... but wait, maybe we should rename it teal-ray! (^^,)

About Team Blu projects in general: I'm following them, and I must say I'm very happy about your results, and the choice of movies. Keep going on this way, thank to you, Dark_Jedi and all the other TB members, the fan restoration world is richer now!

bigrob, you know that I'm interesting in doing that one... if Doc could make an unapproved 2.70:1 version, who am I to NOT do an approved 1.90:1 version based on laserdisc? (^^,)

ah, it is still on your list! thought you forgot about it!

look forward to the SPORV version then ;)

No spoRv version, sorry, "only" ruLes version (restored using Laserdisc sources)... (^^,) but you must have some patience, though! I'll start a new thread when it will be the moment, don't worry.

Minority Report [spoRv] (Released)
Time

Even if BD color grading seems OK - as it has more natural colors - I think the colder palette used on DVD is better for this kind of movies, and specifically is perfect for this title.

Glad someone did this I feel like the only Bleach Bypass/ENR/Silver Retention supporter alive at times.

The DVD was not correct tho

It seems you are not the only one... (^^,)

Do you have any suggestion about finding the correct one? HDTV maybe? Because if there is another, better source to use as color reference, I'd like to know. Thanks for your advice.

Minority Report [spoRv] (Released)
Time

Just finished the first conversion using ColourMatch: after a brief look, it seems almost all scenes are artifacts free; the few I found could be easily fixed using another version - that, unluckily, works only for few hundred frames.

Some others, that are not a bit too different from DVD, could be fixed using another color matching script; further testing are needed, though.

Now I go to sleep; I will stay away from my main PC for two days, so no project updates until monday.

[spoRv] projects - past and future
Time

Today I made a mini AVP marathon - "Alien Vs. Predator" DVD, "Alien Vs. Predator: Requiem" DVD and "Predators" BD.

AVP:R was so dark, that I was forced to change setting from standard (calibrated) to dynamic (brighter-than-sun) to be able to discern something - anything - in many scenes... image sometimes lacked details, at the contrary of AVP that was astonishing for a DVD.

About color grading, the first shot - which is the same from the end of AVP - has completely different colors, while the rest of the movie seemed ok to me - it could be interesting to apply a color regrading to the first shot, to be equal to AVP color wise, and see how the whole movie looks like.

Don't know if the BD of AVP:R has the same problems - brightness, *possible* color grading problems, low resolution - but if it is, it has a chance to be a future candidate for a preservation... don't you think?
