Info Wanted: 'LOTR - FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING': Green tint removed?
Time

The fact is, it's quite difficult to align spatially a DVD and BD, because 99% of the times crop is different, often from scene to scene or from shot to shot... what if, for example, you have the DVD covering just 90% of the BD image area? You'll leave four borders with BD color?

I must admit I haven't tried myself with this very title, but I'm almost sure it is like I suspect, or the project probably emerged some time ago... said that, it's still possible to color grading the EE BD using EE DVD as reference, but results may vary...

To owners of Dolby Pro Logic amplifiers: help needed!

hairy_hen, thanks for the explanation, you are always really helpful.

I would like to know what do you think of non-Dolby matrix surround "extraction" (process, decoding) techniques, like Shure Acra Vector, Fosgate 6-axis and so on...

Reading here and there, it seems they are very good, even better than Dolby Pro Logic, apart DTS Neo 6 and CircleSurround, which are not so good - or plainly "wrong"...

To owners of Dolby Pro Logic amplifiers: help needed!

I'd like to get some feedbacks on the difference between the stereo track, listened with a Dolby Pro Logic hardware decoder, and the other encoded tracks, obtained in different manners - 4 are upmixed using Foobar2000 and different plugins, 1 is captured from L, C, R, S outputs of a Pro Logic decoder, then surround is "steroized" using Audacity Pseudo-Stereo plugin, then an LFE is obtained with a low pass of the previous 5 channels, where those are then high passed.

So, a listening test with your setup will be greatly appreciated!

Back to Womble: AFAIK, no software could exactly decode (better, process) a Dolby Surround encoded stereo track, at least not so well as hardware decoder, in particular vintage ones, but this will lead to an entirely new discussion... (^^,) - that I will be happy to partecipate, but with not enough knowledge to start!

EDIT: ...but if you would like to do a conversion using Wooble and the original stereo track, I'm curious to see if the result is similar to the one I reached using hardware!

To owners of Dolby Pro Logic amplifiers: help needed!
Time

I'm working on an hardware decoder capture solution about Dolby Surround encoded stereo tracks; I need someone who owns a Dolby Pro Logic compatible amplifiers that would help testing few files; they are the untouched stereo DS encoded track, plus five different surround recreation files - between them, there is my solution.

So, what I need is a comparative test between the original track, decoded by your hardware Dolby Pro Logic (not II) and the others (endoded in Dolby Digital); at the end, I would like to know which (if any) is the most similar to, or even better than, the DPL decoded track.

Original track is from analog laserdisc, and includes DTS and THX logo - 44s

Tracks included: original.wav, 1.ac3, 2.ac3, 3.ac3, 4.ac3, 5.ac3 - avoided to name them after the surround plugin used, to have a blind test.

Thanks in advance for your help!
