Waterworld [spoRv] (Released)
Time
OK, time to release this project... I have all the foreign languages I use as usual (French, German, Italian, Spanish) plus two English one, the fixed Cinema DTS, and the analog laserdisc track, captured at 48KHz...
Should I include the latter (1.5GB), discard it to gain space for a better video, or compress to, let's say, 192kbps AC3?

You could also answer in the poll on fanres, three days before the final decision!

TPM 1080p Theatrical Preservation (a WIP)

If compared side by side, DVB+LD is clearly less detailed than DVD, in particular when seen frame by frame; but in motion, difference is not that great, and I think these shots could be inserted in the movie without keeping out too much the attention of the viewer due to lower resolution.

Thinking about the quality of each source used, the final result is really great, not so distant from the DVD... good job!

I'll capture the needed shots ASAP - hope today... I'll keep you informed in this thread.

Well, if the GOUT benefits of SR, laserdisc will too; as I tested myself with the '97, SR squeeze some details more than non-SR upscale filters; also, DVB probably will benefit, too, as supposedly its master was HD and downscaled to SD...

The fact the upscale is made first is not a problem; the hard work is to find the perfect settings for the alignment!

Info: Comb Filter Testing
Time

I wonder if the same problem will arise with NTSC, too...

One thing: few days ago I was joking with laserdisc and external comb filters (inside DVD recorders) and I noted that passing through one of them, the phase was inverted - so, the phase inversion trick could work... but sadly, as they are spatially not aligned, and the comb filters between LD player and DVD recorded threat the signals in a quite different manner, it's impossible to use them to work... hope to find out an external hardware "piece" that could do somehow the phase inversion, as this will be the optimal solution... IMHO... thanks to AntcuFaalb, now I cannot think of anything else! (-^,)
