You are of course speaking of the original dolby stereo 35mm mix only on the first issue VHS rental tape and the CAV pan and scan analog audio only not digital release Laserdisc from 1985.

As far as i am aware.  I do believe Dark jedi captured the audio and is including it in his gout restoration of star wars, known today as Episode IV.  But i just call it star wars.

Out of curiosity and I apologize for getting a bit off-topic but has there ever been a preservation/transfer of that first issue VHS rental tape: both video and audio? I can't seem to find a thread about a transfer of it.

I had it on disc from the Starkiller, but it had long ago become a rotten disc.  I am currently going through my collection and assessing the damage.  I will probably have to track down at least hafl of the star wars stuff i have sine they are all rotters.

If Darth MallWallker says its on the newsgroups then if you are partial to them go and fetch it.

The CAV pan and scan laserdisc transfer by dark jedi i own is also a rotten disc, but the audio is on there in ac3.  Also on the newsgroups if your retention go back about three years, or something, lol.

Reddit Q&A with Matthew Stover, author of the ROTS novelization

I absolutely LOVED the novelization, it's incredibly well written and brilliant.  I'd go as far as to say it's one of my favorite books, because it takes characters I know and love and puts them into situations I can picture and interpret in my own way.

All the novelizations are wonderful. :D

Yep.  Imagine if the films had actual writers for the prequels like the novelizations.  Not a hack trying to write without the people who wrote his other star wars films.

Stjärnornas Krig - Swedish 16mm print (Released)
Time

Puggo thanks for the Swedish version.

Does anyone have that poster in high res, the one with han solo and chewbacca that looks suspiciously like a cover from one of the Brian Daley trilogy of books.

The Swedish poster.

Looking forward to puggo strikes back.

Wish i had the money for Jedi in 16mm.

The last print in LPP mylar printed in the nineties was sold on the 8mm forum.

I see.  So who has a version that is as close to the Original Movies that I saw in 1977, with the best quality?

I am talking the Original, no Special Editions of any kind.  I don't even like Star Wars with C3PO's explanation of the tractor beam deactivation.  I love the almost silent computer files sorting in front of the characters.  Very nice.

I don't mind grain but I do want anamorphic.

Any advice?

Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)
Time

This is what i would want.

The Star Wars Trilogy, the real versions from 1977-1983, as well as as the 20th anniversary special editions from 1997. On top of that a fixed release of the 2004 with the colors fixed, the audio mistakes corrected, and garbage mattes and effects glitches caused by the Lowry restoration to be corrected and repaired.

All scanned from the original negatives or best available sources at 8K resolution.

Lucas is a billionaire and fox has deep pockets, they can afford to restore these films. The upcoming blu ray set with no restoration, no fixed colors and only scanned at 1080P is an outrage.

The plot holes thicken, it now turns out Darth Maul isn't dead either. Dum Dum Daaaahhhhhhh!

It's been done - twice!

The Maul as a cyborg is not canon though.  Since Lucas is involved in the clone wars and if Maul returns then it is sadly canon.  Hence Lucas destroys his own continuity and canon.  It is okay if its EU because that is ancillary but the main story is shot to hell by these cartoons.

Rejected Prequel Titles
Time

A working Title for Episode II was i kid you not, Jar Jar's Big Adventure.

That is far worse than the Beginning.  I like the working title for II far better the Clone Wars.  Or the Working title for III, Fall of the Republic.  Obviously neither used because they are far to obvious as was the beginning. Though phantom Menace is pretty horrible.  Might as well be called the Phantom Plot, CGI disgrace called a star wars movie.

Attack of the Clones also a horrendously bad title.  revenge of the Sith is okay because its like Revenge of the Jedi.

Dark Knight Rises - Now that we know the cast
Time

I stopped following the comics continuity after the batman death thing.  Now they bring him back, while the original robin is the new batman and batmans son damien is the new robin, and the robin supposedly killed by the joker is the red hood.

DC comics continuity is impossible to follow, and i thought marvel continuity changing what was X-men continuity, or wolverine continuity and what as not was confusing.

Its like star wars, something can be canon one minute and then not the next.

Damn you LucasFilm.

Seconded without any reservations at all.  How dare they suppress film history and they cannot even get the special edition right.

Even if i was exclusively a fan of the 2004, i would be pissed off that it remains unfixed, despite having a new audio mix for a new hope.  The only new thing in the boxset besides a new set of bonus features on the saga set.

Dooku has his own sith apprentice in Savage Oppress.

Anything Lucas has input on in my mind is G-Canon whether this is stated or not.  That incldues the new clone wars cartoon and force unleashed.

But not the EU, and certainly not the Genddy clone wars which lucas had very little control over.

The first person to try and tie all the loose EU ends together was Kevin Anderson, when he wrote the star wars chronology.  It was supposed to be one large epic tome and a novel.  In the end after much delays the scope of that never happened and it became much more a feigned historical text.

But what do i know i have my own personal canon where the Zahn novels are the true sequels to return of the Jedi, Mara Jade is a canonized character, and she never died. Also Jango fett does not exist, boba's parentage is a mystery and he is a former journeyman protector formerly known as Jaster Mareel.

Also he helped Vader hunt down the Jedi with an army of mandalorian supertroopers, and the clone wars was cloned Jedi's not clones of a character made up at the last minute.  Qui Gon does not exist nor do midichlorians.  Obi Wan is trained by Yoda.  Anakin is a great starfighter pilot and good friend of obi wan who follows him on damn fool idealistic crusades.  he is slowly tempted to evil by ambitious senator palpatine who becomes President of the Republic.
