What I disliked -

the lens flares. oh god. the lens flares.
So the excuse that things were constantly happening off screen in Star Trek was an asspull, since Super 8 is hardly a busy starship? ;-)

He now admits he overdid the lens flares on Trek and promises not to do it in the next one.  I don't believe him in the slightest but we shall see.

At least he is not shooting on Video, or in 3-D video.

So far its supposed to be shot on film.  If Paramount wants 3-D they will have to either fire him and hire another director or post convert.

Anyone else looking for to ICO and Shadow of the Colusses HD remakes? Never played ICO but SotC was an awesome game.

HaloA sounds great, hopefully its no more than 29.99 when it comes out. Playing the campaign online coop is great. Remember playing it for hours on end with a friend in college, really fun.

Anyone play Borderlands?

Love the Soundtrack to Shadow of the Colossus especially the opened way.

I have heard an orchestrated version of it by Eminence, awesome stuff.  The song is quite repetitive though.  The real OST is long out of print and costs too much.

The Empire Strikes Back is the best Star Wars movie. Or is it?
Time

This acting coach comes as a shock to me as does the performances supposedly being better in sith.  Really ? Hayden was horrible in sith, Mcdiamid was horrible.  The only one i thought did a good job or at least tried to with ridiculous dialogue was Ewan.

Even Sam Jackson was horrible. as he was in clones, and Christopher Lee's talents were criminally wasted on these films.

The lighstaber duels and dialogues were beyond ridiculous and cartoon like.

If i wanted to watch a warner bros cartoon i could have, but i wanted a star wars film and paid for a star wars film and got rubbish bad acting and out of place cgi in replace of a story or characters i cared about.

I see all new films as soon as they hit DVD.  So no i have not seen X-men First Class or, Thor, won't see them til they hit DVD.

In fact i have not seen a film in a theater in a long time and i miss it for nothing.  Its not like they are making films like they used to.

They made more films like the original star wars trilogy, or lord of the rings and i may go to see them on the big screen.

I think i'll see The Hobbit in 2-D, in cinema but it depends if i can get some family and friends to go to see it.  Otherwise I'll rent the DVD.

Comics. (Not the comedians)
Time

I like the pre comic book era and newspaper comics.

I like Raymond's Flash Gordon, Hal Fosters Prince Valiant.

Raymond's Rip Kirby.

Caniff's Terry and the Pirates.

Al Williamson's work on the e.c. comics line and the Flash Gordon comics, as well as his work on Corrigan and Star Wars strips.

I also like the E.C. collaborations between Williamson and Frazetta.

I also like Xenozoic Tales, and anything by Dave Stevens but especially the Rocketeer.

I also like the original Spirit by Will Eisner.

I like Comics as an illustrator's art.

Never could really get into Buck Rogers the style was too cartoony for me.

Though the Frazetta famous funnies covers were way better than anything in those books.

I grew up as a kid on the wolverine mini series by Claremon't and Miller, and on the X-men books.  I loved the Transformers comics, Marvel Star Wars and Indiana Jones, later i collected all the dark horse ones but the last series i read was legacy and not in print.

I am laughing my ass off at people who though Halo 3 was the conclusion to the series, here comes Halo 4 and the start of a second trilogy.

Now all those people that claimed i was off my rocker for saying they would milk the franchise owe me an apology, lol.

Not anyone on the boards but people who worship Halo like its a frickin religion.

Gotta love E3, even the star trek game is a huge ripoff of mass effect.

Only my opinion.

Looking forward to mass effect 3 and finishing the series, but the whole Kinect thing is laughable.

That's the one I found, the dry, no sound effects, Chuch Benson recording.  It's not awful in my opinion, as the story is more important to me than the sound effects.  However, the reader bugs me at times, and the sound effects do greatly enhance the story.  I'd love to get the new one when it comes out.

Since it seems many are not that into the audio books, perhaps you know, skyjedi2005.  On Wookieepedia we are told that there is an unabridged version of the OT novels.  However, I cannot seem to find this anywhere on Amazon, for download, or anywhere else.  I already have the radio dramatization and the abridged version, but I'm really interested in the full story.  Do you know if this is a mistake on Wookieepedia, or if there is truly an unabridged version?  If there is, where would I find it?

Jedi is very very abridged, empire and star wars are almost unabridged but not really since there are edits and things left out.

They edited out the reference to more than one dark lords in star wars for instance, and the prologue journal of the whills was taken out.  In jedi Luke hearing from Ben that Owen was Ben's brother was also excised.

These are the time Warner versions and i have them on CD but the quality is not much better than the cassette versions its an almost waste of the format.

The edits were obviously done to either bring the books more in line with the finished film and cut all the deleted scenes, or to match Lucas saga vision of the time.  I would like an edited and unabridged recording of these as well as The Daley Han Solo Trilogy, and Splinter of the Minds eye.

Since wiki is open to edits their are often many incorrect and unsourced statements.

The Statement on there for instance that the Larry Mckeever versions were for the blind like Chuck Benson is wrong, they were the unabridged books on tape series.  There is also a third recording not mentioned is DK Books of Boston i cannot remember the narrator but i think its a kids series thing but still unabridged.  Done for children who had difficulty with reading or as a read along edition, i believe but i could be wrong on this but it is certainly not a books for the blind edition.

With the Upcoming unabridged there will have been 4 done for Heir.  But this will be the first CD version and first Lucasbooks version the 25th anniversary recording, not sure if the notes from the redo will be included probably not.

Idea: Thrawn books turned into a movie?
Time

Their is an unabridged audio recording on Heir coming in September from Del Rey books on CD.

Not sure how helpful that might be.

I think since the comics are pretty much abridged not sure if they even used the same dialog as the books, probably a totally different script.

Would have to create new bubbles for the characters dialog to have the actual book readings. Even if you could find the lines in any book recording abridged or unabridged, the only other option would be to have someone do the reading or act out the lines.

That or do a crazy thing like a fanfilm and get Lucasfilm to come down on you even if you had the money to get it made.  That and Del Rey would send a cease and desist.

I always figured under the mask he looked something like Clint from a Fistful of Dollars.

Then in Attack of the Clones you find out he is a clone of some no name guy called Jango who sounds positively  non threatening.

But dresses like Boba Fett from the Original trilogy only his armor has no nicks in it and is shiny instead of used universe looking.

Also the Kid is annoying just like Anakin and Jar Jar.

What a facepalm moment read empire infinities where they show what his face looks like, its that Dude from attack of the Clones who played Jango.

I am surprised Lucas did not steal the idea from that and add a scene in empire where he has his helmet off.

He did give Boba, Jango's voice in 2004, that was a rage moment for me just like Hayden as Anakin Skywalker in the Ghost scene instead of the old Jedi played by Shaw.

Full video interview between Lucas and Nolan at the DGA in febuary
Time

The 2004 was only scanned at 1080 HD, not 4K.

Directly scanned from the 1997 conformed negative, the o-neg itself was altered.  Which in itself implies no kind of restoration of any kind.

You never harm your Camera negative in such a fashion especially by splicing in CGI.  Unless you are George Lucas, or if your someone else and do it you are a moron.

I am looking for the unabridged books on tape versions of heir to the empire and dark force rising as read by Larry Mckeever.  They are now impossible to find apparently, even used i don't see any listings on Amazon and the last time i saw either on Ebay the person wanted way too much money.

I don't think they ever did one for the Last Command that only got an abridgement all other recordings are for the blind.  Like the Chuck Benson recordings.

Maybe because the first was more lovingly evoking of Raymond and Williamson and the second was not the same kind of serial escapist fun ?

The not enough heart in the story would make more sense than people.

Since empire is a character piece and more balanced between the 3 main characters, instead of a Luke Centric piece like Star Wars and Jedi.

Han and Leia are still in those other 2 films but in empire they feel more like real people and are more fleshed out.
