I heard the 2006 set with the GOUT is now gone...
Time

American Hominid said:

Was reading a thread elsewhere, with several people chiming in, mentioning how the 2006 DVD set with the GOUT included has been allowed to go out of print.  So not only would there not be DVD versions of the films available (seems odd, as a lot of people still use DVDs) and also there would (again) not be theatrical versions available.

Is this true?

Reactions, if it is?

No diffrent than Paramount pulling the standard def original star trek dvd's without the cgi, to force people to buy the stupid blu rays or purshase them second hand at ridiculous prices, often ending up with bootlegs when they thought they were puchasing the real deal from the marketplace sellers.

Yeah sure the cgi versions are available on dvd only, which is garbage.

I also saw they pulled the gout from Amazon, and i too thought it was another Luca$cheme.

More (Funny) Changes on Blu-ray
Time

Luke is the main hero of the original trilogy, it was called original from the adventures of luke skywalker.

That was the title on the novelization.

I do understand the point of the video.

But The trilogy is Luke's story, Hamill is the main star, despite what people have come to believe about it being Han Solo's story and Ford's series.

Lucas decided to turn the saga on its head with the success of empire and jedi and made Vader the hero of the saga, stupid move.

LETS PRETEND: A Star Wars Technicolor print is for sale

Yeah, but who's gonna SCAN it kid, you?

Seriously, that's the rub.  No decent 35mm scanning outfit would touch it with a 10 foot pole. Although at least buying it would keep it from falling into enemy hands.

I know of one that did touch a 35mm print of a cult animated film that is still unavailable on DVD in the U.S. (They actually touched it twice because they had DNR switched on and overcranked on the first pass.) I even saw framegrabs of the results.

Unfortunately, I could not get the name of the outfit from the owner of the print, and I have to respect their decision not to disclose the information.

Let me guess you are talking about permanently banned member ocpmovie, aka Garret Gilchrist.  And Thief and the Cobbler incomplete workprint found in a dumpster.

3D STAR WARS for the masses...has ARRIVED!
Time

The Aluminum Falcon said:

Has anyone pointed this article out?

http://www.tgdaily.com/games-and-entertainment-brief/56618-massive-star-wars-3d-remakes-may-be-cut-short

Rick McCallum says the rest are a no-go if the theatrical TPM re-issuing isn't a success. WHAT? I mean you have to think; they're relying on the most critically panned of the Star Wars franchise to bring in audiences... It shouldn't be a surprise if people don't want to see that one again.

On a side note, the article mentions that Cameron is converting Titanic to 3D.

What Lucas is a billionaire who had so much money he gave away half his fortune to charity, but he cannot afford the restoration of the oot, cannot afford the live action series, and now he cannot afford the 3-D convert even with the blu ray sales, wow something tells me greed is the reason.

I also heard New Line plans to convert Lord of the Rings into 3-D not so sure if that will happen though, would sort of make sense seeing as how the 2 hobbit films are being shot in 3-D.

"The Clones Revealed" (Released)
Time

I always wondered what a green screen cut of the 3 films would look like if you removed the cgi, lol.

What about unfinished scenes and so on in rough form, that will be on the blu ray for the first time.

The deleted scene with qui gon and maul dueling on the ramp as the queen's ship takes off will be on the blu ray.

But like someone said you never did a TPM cut, probably because Clones and Sith were newer?

Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)
Time

Because every country that had a release in their national language that is their language.  Not English.

Its like a Japanese anime being released here in the states, usually the English track is master audio and the Japan track of lesser quality, the reverse is true in japan.

I believe the japan release will have Japan DTS HD 6.1 MA. In Japanese and the English track will be the lesser encode on there.  In mean of course Star Wars. The original Japan release came out in 1978, i have no idea what the special edition dubs were like.

'Legacy' by X0-1138 - a fake and trolling 'project'
Time

I loved the 5.1 track on star wars special edition, too bad that is not on the blu ray, i mean the 1997 version warts and all.

I did not like some of the changes, but was okay with it until it became the replacement for the original.

I thought the trench run was absolutely thrilling i think i saw it in 6 channel sdds.

Some saw it in dts, i also saw the empire strikes back in dolby 5.1 and jedi in dolby 5.1

Welcome back X-0. Did you consider capping the special edition 1997 with the X-0 player or strictly the oot?

I am also looking forward to puggo finishing the trilogy, that for me will be the equivalent of an oot DVD Anamorphic release since none is ever coming.

If people need HD dark jedi's set and harmys are very nice indeed.

I prefer dj's based on the images posted as i have not the discs yet, if i did i would drop off them over at my bros and watch them at his house.

We had planned to watch the official blu ray. And see Phantom in 3D, but i am sort of in a boycott Lucas mood.

Not sure if i am still getting it or not, the NOOOO no thing is pretty bad imho.

But my brother likes the special editions and the prequels, so i don't know.

Get the set when its used i guess keep the deleted scenes and documentaries discs and give him the 6 films.

Info: The Criterion Laserdisc Preservation Thread
Time

I heard that Weta actually found some of the original props for that scene, and even storyboards drawn by Willis O'brian.

The found the spider armature and using that as a concept they recreated the same model.

I wonder if i am the only one who liked PJ's King Kong, except for jack black.  He nearly ruined the movie for me yet did not.

Praise a "bad" movie
Time

Hudson Hawk is like the worst movie ever made if you love the first die hard though and followed that up by watching that, or you could do worse Bruce Willis talk show.

Johnny M is not so bad a movie if you see the Japanese cut and see it as a bad Japanese b movie, not expecting a Matrix film.

I mean what did you expect its the guy from bill and ted.

If you need to B*tch about something... this is the place
Time

Is not the video era and mtv responsible for this at least partly, i mean in response to modern popular music on the whole pretty much being crap.

That quick cutting editing style has also gone on to ruin films.

If everything is not super fast faced and without shaky cam, lens flares and hundreds of millions of dollars of fake cgi, god the movie won't even open.
