Disney Acquires LucasFilm for $4.05 billion, Episode 7 in 2015, 8 and 9 to Follow, New Film Every 2-3 Years
Time

Lucas control freak nature is probably why Kurtz was let go, why Kershner decided to do no more star wars films, and why he had a hard time getting a director for Return of the Jedi.

Considering he backseat directed Jedi and Crystal Skull i don't blame what others think of working with him.

A New direction for Lucasfilm Animation
Time

I wonder if this had something to do with Warner bros stake in the clone wars cartoon.  Anyway why is Lucas animation even still gonna be going is it not kind of silly to have Disney animation, pixar and lucas all under Disney.  Kind of like how silly it is for disney to own Marvel yet dark horse is doing the star wars comics.

Why Not pixar star wars?

A New direction for Lucasfilm Animation
Time

I wish Fox got the rights to the star wars and not Disney if they had i could have been watching the oot on blu ray sooner than later.  And personally if Disney not getting star wars meant sacrificing the sequels to get the OOT on blu ray i would be all for it.

As for what Disney is doing with Lucasarts and Lucas Animation what does the mean for Dark Horse Comics and Del Rey are they gonna meddle there as well?

Reminds me a bit of when Pocket Books cancelled a whole line of star trek books because they did not want to step on  Orci and companies toes on the New Trek series.

That was less of an article and more of an advertisement for star wars insider magazine.  Really disappointing.

Would like to read the whole ED Summer/Lucas story however i won't subscribe to lame insider for it.

Sure someone else will read the whole thing and can tell about it here.

Star Wars: A New Hope [SET ruLes 1.0] - AVCHD & BD RELEASED!
Time

I still don't understand why they did not just use a 1997 IP for the blu ray it would have had all the color information intact and they would not have had to do a new timing by going back to the OCN.

They also could have used the 1997 audio mix which was better.

A DVD version of set rules would be welcome DVD5 or DVD9 as i don't have a blu ray burner and the MKV would not work in MY PS3 or Xbox 360.

Just a request not a demand.

Info: Back to the Future - without DNR & EE
Time

What was the reason for the use of DVNR on the blu ray.  I mean if they restored the movies and the quality was there for all to see why ruin it by removing an integral part of the image and what the Cinematographer intended us to see?

The film prints i saw in theaters way back when were very fine grain anyway and not grain heavy except in the scenes where you had optical generations for the special effects.

There was zero need for Universal to DVNR a film that was not so old.  I mean 1985 with the first film was the oldest.

A Lengthy Stroll Down Star Wars Memory Lane
Time

Well i grew up on cartoons like Masters of the Universe, and others like Flash Gordon, also D&D so i was heavily into anything sword and sorcery.  Or Adventure like, i also loved Transformers. But when i saw Jedi in 1985 i was hooked.  I did like star wars as i had seen it, but hated empire found it slow and boring even though i can appreciate it now it was less swashbuckling than a new hope or Return of the Jedi.

Never been to a movie on the big screen since Jedi that sucked me totally into its made up word as if i lived in it and was the hero.

The only similar experience i have had as an adult is with the Lord of the Rings trilogy but of course that is not the same as a wide eyed kid being literally spellbound by the magic of cinema.

My interest waned and i grew up.  I only had my interest rekindled in middle school in 8th grade with Zahn's Heir to the Empire.  That and the Dark Horse comics in the 90's along with the various console video games and computer games made me dream of a sequel trilogy, and i was not against seeing the adventures of Anakin And OBI either in the clone wars.  Before the dark times before the special editions and prequels.

I had the pan and scan last time tapes in 1995.  Only as an adult did i track down the letterboxed version which is the only version i will watch that is now on non anamorphic DVD from 2006 aka as GOUT.  I hate the blu ray or 2004 cuts they are not the films that made me such a fan, they are awful and full of crap cgi.

I recently re-read the Zahn Trilogy and they are the only EU books that are good books but also star wars not bad tie in fiction.  They also able to continue the magic of the oot and its feel.  All the other books just don't hold up, IMHO.  Mara Jade feels like a character that could have come from an expanded future beyond Jedi accept this excellent character is something Lucas did not create. Lucas would have Luke with no strong female character to play off of.  He would have had luke a prequel-esque jedi monk free from attachment and any female companionship.

Help: looking for... 1980s Dragon Ball 'Harmony Gold' dub.
Time

I have been looking for these dubs for years with no luck.  Could not seem to find any official releases i guess bootlegs of the tv broadcasts are the only option and no one seems to have them.

I am also looking for the Macek Compilation movie dub of Nadia, that is on laserdisc but have found no versions of the DVD fan or official that have it.

Saw two great classics in the theater recently. First was Casablanca with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra performing the score live. That was a fantastic experience, but was entirely dwarfed by 2001: A Space Odyssey in 70mm! I feel blessed by the gods to say that I saw a pristine 70mm print of 2001: ASO on the big screen, front and center about 10 rows back, with the screen nearly filling my vision, and the sound so beautifully loud that the high-pitched whine during the Stargate sequence was actually hurting people's ears (like it should). The overture, Ligeti's Atmospheres, played to a completely blackened house, and you could hear a pin drop from the moment it began to the moment the film ended.

Definitely a Top 3 Movie Experience for me. I feel like I can die a little more peacefully now that I've seen 2001 in 70mm.

Wish i could see a restored pristine print of star wars in 70mm or Empire strikes back.  We all know that can never happen thanks to George Lucas and his un-special bastardized versions since 1997.

I still stand by what i said about Skyfall a thriller that could be any other movie and not a very good one at that since you know what is going to happen before it happens.  Dark Knight Rises despite its minor flaws is a hundred times the film skyfall is, even the poorly made Mission Impossible 4 was better than skyfall.

They claim that Mendes guy who made this turkey is doing the next film well i won't be seeing it then.  Bring back Martin Campbell he directed Goldeneye and Casino Royale he knows how to make a Bond film.

Mark is probably key to all of all this. Disney wants to get us old fogeys into the theaters. ;)

Not necessarily if any of the ot actors refuse to be in it they can write it into the story that their character died.  Like they did with Sean Connery in Crystal Skull.

To me the worst thing that can happen is Hamill says no.  Its not like its going to do anything to hurt his career at this point to be in it, but it won't further it either.  Unless they offer him a large sum of money i don't see him doing it.

I hate the idea of a younger cast coming in with the oot actors basically being wallpaper.  I want further adventures of Luke Skywalker. But are we not basically facing the same ludicrousness of Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones in Crystal Skull at 60+ years old with Mark being as old as he now is.

ROBOTECH: The Deculture Collection (Released)

ADV released the original cut as the "Legacy Collection".

They prolly had something comparable to Beta.  VHS is not used for broadcast masters - not at consumer speeds, anyway.

It was broadcast U-Matic.  The same thing Coppola Edited the first cut of apocalypse on and the same thing the star wars Holiday Special was shot on.

Like i said roughly vhs quality.

Return of the Pug (ROTP) - webpage and screenshots (Released)
Time

I have always liked the Struzan poster but have always hated that the Saber colors are wrong.  Luke's should be green and Vader's red.

If it was to match the revenge teaser at least Luke's should be blue and not red.

I cannot believe that this passed the printers proofs  stage without them telling him to fix it.

Today they would just photoshop a correction.
