SIX fantastic brand new preservation projects..... (Released)
Time
correct me if I'm wrong but since there is no standard play for return of the jedi on laserdisc is the ced 2 disc standard play or time compressed extended. Has anyone done transfers of the ced's? Obviously the first two ced releases of star wars and empire strikes back are one ced disc so they were stretched to fit the time limit so they are inferior to the standard play lasers unless you are a completist.

That being said I wish you luck in all your endeavors. I still would like to see transfers of the 8mm digest versions of the trilogy and the full and widescreen 8mm features, the beta releases, the ced releases the 16mm and 35mm theater prints. None of the 75mm release prints exist too bad because they are the ultimate collector's item to do a transfer from.

I just got my japan definitive collection boxset in the mail, Has anyone ever done a transfer of this one besides the fact of the annoying japanese subtitles which cannot be removed?

I purchased it because someone who collects laserdiscs told me the quality was better than the american release.

so I have that opened but unused, and the executor u.k. set opened but unused. Now I just need the equipment and nowhow on how to make my own legal backups.

Dr. M's Reinventing The Wheel Edition (PAL to NTSC+) (Released)
Time
this has been discussed before but not actually done, recreating the lost cut of star wars. I personally would like to see the fx finished and the deleted scenes be reinstated for a longer cut. Hopefully these finished or raw form deleted scenes will end up on a future dvd release or blu ray/hd dvd.

Since not all of the lost scenes have been released though we are really talking about a hybrid edit of the finished star wars and the lost cut. Which means extensive research would have to be done to re-edit the scenes back into the places they belong like the shooting script, and some of the scenes are actually from earlier drafts of the screenplay since it was being shot and re-written on the fly.

X-Men 3 trailer
Time
One david Hayter also known to gamers as solid snake did not write the screenplay he did a wonderful job with the first two, secondly no bryan singer involved. It will be a miracle if they don't screw this one up, I mean the last film was just too good on all levels how can It be topped?

also don't know if a director who has no real connection to sci fi films or comic books was the best choice.

Maybe he's good for killing people movies and horror films, but I still don't get why he's doing x men.

Best movies of 05
Time
unfortunately the only movies to come out this year that I found were remotely interesting and watchable were revenge of the sith and batman begins. Will not know what to think about the rest until they are released on dvd because I go to the theater rarely these days and find it a general hassle. The dvd format has overshadowed the theater format the dollars and numbers show this mainly price and convenience are key, as well as a lack of good fun, or intresting movies to watch. Hollywood blames it on internet piracy.
