8.05.2006 Updates
I've got news from all over concerning the Special Features DVD. First, I received a fantastic remake of the "I Think I'm a Clone Now" parody music video. The original is preserved, in high quality video (finally), and there are an additional 30 seconds or so at the end. Second, I heard from my translator. The translation has been delayed until around September. Lastly, another Eva fan is sending me DVD-quality rips of the extended intro/outro in 5.1 surround sound!!! See everyone, I told you that the error on the initial release would end up being a good thing!
I don't know if you noticed but for return of the jedi the album and movie have different lines, but only slightly.
C-3P0 in one version says " poor lando calrissian and chewbacca never returned from this awful place"
second version " poor lando calrissian and chewbacca never returned from that awful place"
Too bad I don't have a scanner Jambe because I have the YUMA daily sun pull out for revenge of the jedi.
I live in the u.s. does anybody in the u.s.a. on these boards have a scanner.
I only have a photo copy of cinefex 13 bought from there site as they sold all there stock on this issue, I am missing a couple pages in places as well.
I also have photocopies of cinefex 2 and 3 which are empire strikes back they never did star wars because the magazine did not exist then.
I also have 2 copies of american cinematographer return of the jedi, only 1 for empire, and two copies for star wars.
I also have those two starlog/ starburst in the u.k. articles I have the original and the reprint of marquand and fisher.
Anybody have the original return of the jedi bantha tracks issues? I only have a printout of a mark hamill interview form artoo's news which site is no longer up.
The cinefex are getting collector's prices now as they are extremely scarce, but i think american cinematographer put up their issues in an star wars archive on there site.
you should capture those pre thx silver screen laserdiscs which are in widescreen. Why? well for one thing nobody else on these boards has of yet. that could be another little project even though you are gonna use somebody else release as a videotrack.
The other two trilogy sets I'd like to see captured are the spainish set and the 1994 pre faces coffret collector french set.
I would settle for screen caps of all of these as well to judge the quality.
If he makes any more changes I hope it All ends in flames like that south park episode with raiders of the lost ark special edition where they all melt like the villains in the film.
quote " Good thing he has not changed the PT"
screw the prequel trilogy lucas can tird all over that talentless piece of crap souless hackjob for all I care. just leave our beloved original trilogy alone! for the true orginal star wars fans of course.
And another thing maybe for the first time in more than 30 years he can direct something new to prove he's not a one trick poney joke we all know he is. Kershner is a real filmaking craftsman watch empire and then watch the prequels.
is this is MSNBC;s take on the situation then I have no confidence in their journalistic integrity. I would have taken them a few minutes of a conversation with a level headed fan to realize this is america and we talk with our wallets and we have a voice in a democracy. The fan's have spoken non anamorphic means 0$ for this blatant attempt to cash in for luca$
Do not forget Lucasfilm and all it's subsidiaries is a multi- billion dollar fortune 500 company, so for them to sell a shoddy product is laughable. But then again money grubbing whore's no know better. star wars transformers anyone?
yeah you think it is not a bad idea. wait till you see Jar Jar in 3-D in 2007's phantom menace with cgi yoda.
the men in the white coats should show up with straight jackets it's so insane.
what's even more insane he has Lynn Hale say they cannnot afford a proper transfer of oot, but he sure can afford a friggin 3-D retarded Jar Jar binks!.
It's called the making of Star wars episode IV: a new hope by jonathan rinzler.
my question is will it be more of mr. lucas revisionist history and not what actually happened with the original making of the film.
Back in the day they were supposed to release a book called the making of star wars written by Charles (Charlie) Lippincott and being the book collector i am i've found out that it never was released even though you can find it's isbn on amazon. I would rather see this published because he was there from the get go as the publicist, and was on the set as a spectator. Plus he was an avid flash gordon fan and really loved this movie because it brought back the nostalgia of a more innocent and fun time.
Just like the old documentaries were good honest making of specials not propaganda like empire of dreams although is has some nice tidbits.
I would like to read a book on star wars written by Gary Kurtz or empire by Irvin Kershner because at least they are honest in there account of how it came to be made.
Star wars went down hill on jedi because of the fact of the hiring of Kazanjian a yes man if there ever was one and a precurser to rick mcallum.
Yes people butted heads on the making of empire and it cost more money than star wars but that makes it a far better film. Kersh must have been so sick of it that's why he turned down jedi and this was before lucas left the dga.
he's too lazy to make any quality control of any sort on any of his releases.
These are probalbly the same as the last two times because they made too many and are sitting in a warehouse collecting dust. To clear them out he offers a sub standard release of the oot, nothing more than an official bootleg version mastered from the same source as the laserdiscs, but not the laserdiscs themselves. And he calls them bonus material and wants us to kiss his ass for releasing them this way. what a puke.
one of the reasons I thought all three original trilogy films were so great because of the production paintings and illustrations by Mr. McQuarrie. The art deco style design similar to rockwell but transposed to a galaxy far far away, as well as the fact that he did the animation for the moon landing for nasa.
I think the prequels should have used more of a Mcquarrie-esque design approach, maybe he should have done something there despite the fact that he is sick now.
I have always been a fan of his work and I love his designs for the 1976 star wars paperback, 1978 splinter of the mind's eye and all of those asimov covers he did are awesome.
I saw this post on BrikHaus web blog site and thought I would post it here as an update:
Quote "OK people. So good news all around. I fixed the problem with the disc! Also, I found a translator for the documentary!! However, I am going to hold off on releasing it until the translation can be finished. It may be a while (I know I am really slow at this stuff) but it will be worth it in the long run."
Thanks for the work and effort brikhaus I for one appreciate it, and I'm sure all the other EVA fans on this site do too!
Can't wait to see the finished project, but will wait patiently until it is done.
how come your not doing a fistfull of dollars? that is my favorite out of all three clint is truly a badass in that movie, and yes I know it was a knock of of yojimbo by kurosawa.
anybody ever consider editing all the dark phoenix episodes together to make a movie more in line with the comic book unlike X-3 the last stand which took too many liberties. and i have heard that some fan editor's are going to take a stab at that one when it is released. I don't see how they can re-create the chris claremont comic without the footage though, using comic scans for the unfilmed missing scenes?
