.: The XØ Project - Laserdisc on Steroids :. (SEE FIRST POST FOR UPDATES) (* unfinished project *)
Time
i just wish lucas cared about the originals as much as you guys do.

i hate him for not releasing restored versions of the theatrical cuts of the films in anamorphic.

even permanently altering the oneg and tracking down and destroying every surviving print of the originals in existance.

even blocking bfi and library of congress and afi from showing their original prints.

i'm suprised he did not try to raid the library of congress and steal and burn those prints.

their are film archives that have copies of the originals but lucas will sue them if they screen them.

heck id be surprised if he does not have every private film collector who owns prints from 1977-1983 arrested.

Info: GOUT Anti-aliasing
Time
even the processed one still has the motion blur on the rebel trooper running.

was that intentional in the filming?

or is it another part of the ugly dvnr?

the major problems as know on the pre special edition star wars films is the dirt and grain evidant in the scenes especially shot in tunisia that have sand and grit literally on the film.

George Lucas jealous of Irvin Kershner's Star Wars?
Time

People don't want to see cynicism and negativity and darkness that mirrors reality in films. they want to be uplifted. Lucas made the same mistake i thought he had learned from THX 1138 dark and social commentary films don't work. the lord of the rings trilogy and the harry potter films have there darker moments but their is an essential humanity to the characters that seems to be absent from the prequels.

(i had to do a double post because the stupid system says i ran out of space)

George Lucas jealous of Irvin Kershner's Star Wars?
Time
of course lucas thinks empire is the worst film because it actually is the best film out of all six.

when reality comes along and knocks him upside his dumbass head i'll be frankly suprised. i'm not holding my breath or crossing my fingers.

despite having some of my favorite moments in the original trilogy jedi was the worst of all three released from 1977-1983.

Even some fine scenes like yodas death scene, luke and vaders confrontation. Luke confronts the emperor etc.

and some great star wars 77 esque swashbuckling scenes like the sandskiff and sailbarge in the dune sea.

To be honest my favorite star wars scenes are those like the old pirate movies, or errol flynn swashbuckling pictures. Everyone basically goes to star wars to see the Lightsaber duels. seems to me the only saving grace of episode one is its awesome duel. the duel in episode II is a joke, episode III comes in a close second in the duels of the prequels.

the prequels lack the humanity of the originals, good triumphing over evil, heroism and noble ideals. Even the music suffers in this department, and i don't blame john williams he only had what material he had to work with.

2007 DVD repackage
Time
if they have to re-release the 2004 why not fixed versions?

fix the bad mattes on the films, the incorrect mix on a new hope, and do some color correction.

there are bad garbage mattes in all three films.

george spent money on cgi jar jar for episode six. why not fix technical flaws that could by fixed with a pc and some software?

i won't buy any more dvd versions release the damn blu ray set corrected stupid lfl.

why we can get HD garbage mattes and wonky colors, LOL

IMPORTANT BEHIND THE SCENES INFO ON THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY FROM LONDON FILM AND COMIC CON-SEP '07
Time
the camera was actually used on Cecil B. DeMille's the ten commandments, according to the making of star wars book.

star wars and vistavision article was released in american cinematographer in their special edition issue i believe.

I'll have to check and see if it is still up on their site.

panavision cameras were also used on the empire strikes back as well as star wars. they actually used a different secondary camera on jedi because they could not purchase a panavision.

.:. MoveAlong's - The Story of TESB/The Adventures of Luke Skywalker .:. Complete!
Time
"Looking forward to ROTJ"

i second that.

absolutely cannot wait to see the color correction on the 2004 jedi, movealong will get results as far as his previous 2 star wars story albums show.

id also like to say how stunning and professional sounding the PCM audio off those old LP's was. who would have thought you could achieve something so good just from an LP, without having access to the master tapes.

it has always been a major dissapointment to me that Lucasfilm is sitting on those old master tapes and has not released a remastered release of the story albums on cd.

the empire ralph mcquarrie trailer is on the 2004 bonus disc in widescreen and appears to be remastered.

the only empire trailer i know of not on there is the one with the temp track music and luke screaming at the end.

Mr. McGregor hated SW?
Time
sorry but what did you expect this is originaltrilogy.com not specialeditions.com or prequelssuck.com.

none of the macgregor info is new he said in the star wars doco legacy revealed that the originals are classics, and then there are the ones he was in.

this article comes from the same site that had to issue an apology and retraction after posting a rediculous story that Mark Hamill hated star wars, the international MH fan club had to set them straight.LOL LOL.

Lightsaber in space...
Time
now that is a prop i would not mind owning.

i mean what is more famous in movie history as far as props go than star wars.

what is cooler than star wars props?

i wish i owned a master replica elite limited edition of lukes saber from jedi, nice piece indeed. the only thing i'd rather have is the saber shown in unsung hero's by the prop maker. the one in jambe's returning to jedi. it comes apart and has a crystal inside, frickin sweet!

Do they still have Alec Guiness saber in the archives?

how many of the movie sabers were given to the actors or were stolen?

big deal he's a fan of the originals and thinks the prequels suck. the majority of critics and the average filmgoar would agree.

you have to take what tfn says with a grain of salt anyway they use the music jedi rocks in their podcast, LOL

Dorks who kiss lucas butt and like the special editions and prequels. dumbasses sided with LUCASS over the 2006 gout.

The Music of Star Wars: 30 Anniversary Collection
Time
Lucas has lost all touch with reality and any sense or hope of credibility.

Now the torturous long wait to see if he and his pal steve can deliver on Indy IV, or watch another beloved franchise ruined and go down in flames.

can you believe i actually spent 60 bucks on that last limited edition trilogy six disc set for 2004, terrible photoshopped posterart and no liner notes to speak of.

thank god i held onto my RCA releases and my anthology set.

The RCA and sony are indistinguisable in listening terms but sonys claims to be further remastered in something called DSD or direct stream digital whatever that technobabble means i have no clue.

Blu-ray Disc or HD-DVD?
Time
there are people that do have terrabyte size external hardrives, i know some people. It just is not the norm unless you are a techie or a computer nerd

what about verizons new fiber optic technology would'nt that be fast enough?

i know that if you pay an additional 150.00 a month you can get download speeds as high as 100 megabyte per second.

BANNED BOND: The Criterion Collection on DVD (Released)
Time
what about preserving the live and let die laserdisc that had the isolated soundtrack?

and possibly adding in the guns and roses version as an alternate, LOL

very much looking forward to your planet of the apes, your thunderball, and star trek projects. i loved your work on dune. and the banned bond set.

i love those old bond posters too bad i got my thunderball laserdisc more than 10 years to late to get the free send away theatrical anniversary poster for thunderball. i love the THX set too bad the image is cropped, the audio is better than the special edition dvd because it is not compressed.

i wish someone would preserve the dts tracks from the laserdiscs for Goldeneye, and Tomorrow never dies. the ones on the new sets are new mixes and not the theatrical dts mixes. plus the laser ones are full bitrate audio even if the image is letterboxed and not anamorphically stretched.

My Favorite Bond film is From Russia with Love. cannot wait for your version 2.

Does anyone know what the director's and cinematographers intentions were and were these followed by Lowry During restoration?

As far as i know the only approved versions by the director were the criterion versions.

The Director of Dr. No., From Russia with Love, and Thunderball long since dead. i always hated the added blue tinge in the films lowry/now dts restores, very bad in the pal version of from russia with love. in the ntsc version not as noticeable but still there.

Star Wars: REBORN - The Complete Saga (* unfinished project *)
Time
i watched the empire trailer great job, even though the prequel footage felt out of place.

they trailer would not play in my aol browser so i tried it in firefox and it worked without jitters.

overall great editing job!

was that temp track music or are you actually using the gladiator, lord of the rings type music for the final thing?
