Indiana Jones IV
Time
did anyone read the recent interview tvguide.com did with lucas.

affirmed just how much every time he opens his mouth how much more i can come to hate the man.

kingdom of the crystal skull happens to be the worst title ever for a indiana jones movie.

star wars was the better of the two series and since he has already ruined that i will not pay a dime to see indiana jones IV in the theater or buy the dvd. and will boycott any and all lucasfilm products including comics, videogames and the eu until lucas remasters the oot.

until then sorry george no sale, no more stealing the fans wallets as you slap them in the face at the same time.

Info, and Artwork Wanted: MTV 10th Anniversary Special - HELP!
Time
the only mtv special i have seen is the star wars one they put out in 1996 just prior to the special edition's release in 1997.

i missed the new vma's and the new movie awards specials i'll have to look on google, LOL

Britney Spears laughable comeback as well as the joke of a titlle of indiana jones IV make it worth owning.

mtv2 occasionally shows some good stuff like there foo fighters stuff which i missed because i don't have mtv2.

some jerk on ebay wants 50 dollars for the videos id rather get them free in a trade.

i have to say my fave segment was liguid television since it has the maxx and aeon flux. too bad i cannot find a quality copy of the maxx anywhere since it has never received a dvd release. i never did purchase the so called remasters of aeon flux since the reviews were quite bad in terms of quality.

Idea: Preserving STAR TREK - a preservation project?
Time
i just downloaded the 25th anniversary special of star trek as an avi file off of demonoid that appears to be sourced from the 1992 vhs tape of the 1991 tv special.

those of you who want it may want to grab it while there are still some seeders.

hopefully someday someone will produce a better copy from the superior picture and sound of the laserdisc, on a dvd.

until then this is the best you are going to get i would rate the video a 5 out of ten and the audio a 4.

what do you want to expect out of a vhs rip that is less than a gig anyway, LOL

now all i need if for someone to preserve the star trek memories vhs by shatner on dvd since paramount has no intention of doing so.

too bad that happens to be one of the documentaries not released on laserdisc.

leonard nimoys star trek memories also need to be preserved. the youtube quality ones suck. then there are the lost interviews from star trek II. also the smithsonian institution video of the star trek exhibition, as well as the interviews with shatner and nimoy from the sci fi channel special edition of the original series.

some further deleted scenes from trek II have surfaced from a press kit those should be put in a dvd preservation somewhere.

George Lucas to host showing of Star Wars "1977" for AFI's 40th anniversary.
Time
it gets even stranger because the only versions of star wars and empire strikes back that were on AFI's 100 movies 100 years list were the original theatrical versions.

They were pretty vocal in public before about Lucas suppressing the original versions then in 2005 they kissed his ass by giving him a lifetime achievement award and special.

Lucas it a moron and is not in reality the man is insane or competely ego driven.

i'm going to keep the eternal search going for the film prints and some day maybe i'll have enough money to buy the original versions on film and a anamorphic projector to watch the original versions in better quality than the gout. my only other hope is the X-0 project.

i used to be one of Lucas biggest fans and supporters before 1997. now he can burn in hell for all i care for destroying the films i grew up with and love.

i just wish more people in hollywood and the movie business were more vocal. put advertisements in cinefex and american cinematographer to protest the original versions not being restored.

the people in france were outraged by the gout and the upscaled ntsc to pal transfer and non anamorphic. they should have kicked lucas ass out of cannes and not allowed him back until he restores the versions that made him famous.

Lucas has so much money power and influence that even his closest friends, former employees and friends, etc. are affraid to appose him or expose the lying tyrant he is.

Kershner and kurtz as well as kasden should vocally appose him on the issue. where is the former marcia lucas, or even mark hamill who supposedly prefers the original versions. where are the effects artists matte painters and others whos work is being shit all over by lucas.

i guess to remain in the business they kiss his ass, and don't want any bad blood. Richard Edlund, Dennis Muren, John Stears, john dyktsra should have gone toe to toe with the bastard.

instead of honest producers and collaborators telling lucas the special editions and prequels are shit you have puke yes men who keep him in his bubble of lies about being a genius and everything he produces is gold.

the critics can often be wrong yet the best way for a writer in the business of writing books is to have constructive criticism to make the end product better and an editor. seems to me some in the business of making movies need the same.

the biggest lost to Lucas and the star wars films as a whole his divorce in 1983 from marcia lucas she is the one who kept him grounded and gave star wars a humanism it is bereft of without her.

"The fight that weve been hearing about"
Time
what fight have we been looking forward to and hearing about. LOL

maybe someone can invent a time machine so we can go back to 1977 and bring the good george lucas back to the present so he can throw the evil sith lucas down a core shaft like vader does to the emperor in return of the jedi, LOL.

"For a generation star wars trilogy fans were the guardians of the original original trilogy. before the dark times before the gout!"

George Lucas to host showing of Star Wars "1977" for AFI's 40th anniversary.
Time
finding an anamorphic film print on the collectors market of the original 35mm version in good condition from 1977 is truly like a holy grail of sorts.

and film institutes and libraries around the world that actually own one cannot show it for fear of lawsuit.

lucas has gone out of his way to track down the original remaining film prints and have them destroyed.

i heard a theater was going to show the original 1977 version for a fan convention a couple of years ago and the print was confiscated and replaced with the 1997 version.

the original prints from a legal standpoint shipped to theaters were either to be cut up and destroyed after their runs or in the case of several 70mm versions returned to lucasfilm.

according to the revenge of the sith documentary produced by 60 minutes lucas is a billionaire. why cannot we get a restored 1977 version into theaters for everyone of all ages to enjoy for the grand 30th anniversary which came and went it was in may now it is september.

never mind actually getting a decent home video release on dvd or now HD formats, he has made it so the film can never be enjoyed or watched again. now only people have those memories of the 1977, 1980, and 1983 screenings of the trilogy.

i never had the lexury of having seen star wars in 1977, or empire in 1980. hell i only saw the original version of jedi in its 1985 re-release and not in 1983.

their are three films i wish i could see on the big screen that i never got to see, star wars, empire strikes back and raiders of the lost ark in the original versions.

Comics Fans
Time
but they took out the most interesting parts of the story the reign of the supermen and the second super girl, the young superboy clone of supes etc.

i heard the only thing they left intact was the dark superman, lol. hey at least i have the BBC radio drama, which has red leader and biggs from star wars.

and what is with the horrible voice casting decisions. instead of getting good voice artists that are pros at dubbing cartoons and animation they put anne heche and a baldwin brother in there, huh?

i mean obviously christopher reeve is dead but they could have had Tom Welling read for the part of superman or at least that guy who did the animated series and last son of krypton.

i'm looking forward to new frontier hopefully the comic will remain intact unlike the doomsday movie only being a small part of the actual death and rebirth saga of superman.

The animation in the doomsday movie is at least top rate and the fact that it is pg-13 is also good.

i just hope if they make any direct to dvd batman animated films they will use mark hamill as the joker and not recast the role as they did here.

yes i'm not stupid i realize the estates of the original creators of superman have temporarily gotten the license back on superboy, so they rewrote him out of the cannon dc universe. still being in the courts never knowing whether or not dc will also lose the copyright to all of superman if it reverts to the orginal creators heirs.

Indiana Jones IV
Time
or indy says "i am your father" LOL

shia's character " thats not true. thats impossible!!!"

"well you see there was this one time when i did your mother on a submarine in between scenes in Raiders of the lost Ark because the movie was rated PG". LOL

then they can insert another vader or luke like noooooooooooooooo! moment, and the audience will say nooooooo! and cringe at how bad the movie is and leave the theater and demand a refund for lucas 4th turd since the prequels.

Kasden is not writing the script so it is not going to be as good as raiders.

the empire script and raiders scripts are good because of lawrence kasden. lucas could not write his way out of a wet paper bag.

the Huycks script for temple of doom was absolutely crap, just like their howard the duck. surprising that they gave grafffiti and star wars 77 the polish that made them good scripts.

Kasden did a quick rewrite and polish on jedi, though he told george having another death star was lame and the script lacked any emotional depth. rotj's semi success and mostly failure goes on lucas insistance to do everything his own way.

Lucas has unapologetically self labelled himself a Michiavellian. it is his dual nature it is his greatest strength as well as his weakness.

Why the hell did the lazy Emperor even think Luke would join the dark side and become his new apprentice?!
Time
have you ever heard "power corrupts. and absolute power corrupts absolutely" lucas i believe was aware of this phrase while writing the trilogy and the prequels.

hell the whole original nature of the dark side of the force is the more it is used the heavier it ways upon you and becomes more addictive.

Lucas obviously stole the nature of the one ring from tolkien's lord of the rings for the dark side, and tolkien borrowed the curse theme from northern myth and infused it with the symbolism of mans fallen nature.

even a non christian such as lucas must be aware of the temptation scenes in literature such as paradise lost. he could not have been unaware of the belief of sin to christians even though he does not believe such concepts.

anakin's sin is essential that of adams the desire for knowledge which in the end leads to power and corruption.

spileberg has always maintained that temple of doom is the worst of all three of the original indiana jones trilogy. he has said the only good thing that came out of that film was meeting his future wife.

so why would we get short round again when temple of doom has been dissavowed in the spielberg cannon, even though lucass still considers it cannon.

luca$h is a true miracle worker when he can kill two franchises with one stone, LOL

Stargate SG-1 / Stargate Atlantis Thread
Time
i've been waiting for years for devlin to get off his ass and give us his promised stargate 2 movie.

the only good series was sg-1 after the movie of course. atlantis is not as good. though supposedly season 4 of atlantis merges the two shows together in a way becuase amanda tapping joins the cast.

sg-1 just was not as good to me with the seasons without richard dean anderson as a major player. being a guest star on a few later episodes does not count.

and what was with the bizarre crossover of two characters who in all but name are from farscape?

anyway galatica is a far better show. i like katie sackoff better than amanda tapping. id guess you could say that is like comparing apples and oranges though, LOL

cannot wait for the galactica movie razor and season 4 in october.

after they cancel galatica after season four that means they just cancelled their 2 best shows, galactica and sg-1. flash gordon remake is not a good replacement for galactica way to go sci fi.

Hey at least nbc has season 2 of heroes and the new bionic woman.

What is the most distressing aspect of the PT?
Time
the truly most distressing aspect of the prequels and everything star wars these days is the George Lucas of today is not the same as the one who created the trilogy back then.

i mean look at the documentary from star wars to jedi. lucas says in it and i'm directly quoting him. "a special effect is just a tool. a means of telling a story. people tend to confuse them as an end to themselves. a special effect without a story is a pretty boring thing".

this cannot be the same Lucas who supposedly finally got his original vision with the fake cgi of the special editions and the prequels. especially the prequels which are a special effect without a story, almost.

"A SPECIAL EFFECT WITHOUT A STORY IS A PRETTY BORING THING"

i wish lucas had remembered this and hollywood took it at face value. sadly the fake cgi pushed forward by ilm is the only thing movies seem to be about these days. never a story. or if there is one the story seems to be an afterthought, merely a commentary on the special effects or an accompanyment. effects used to be used sparingly and to enhance the story not the other way around.

Potter eclipses Star Wars and Bond
Time
the thing is i like star wars and bond better than harry potter.

sure i'll give you a few points on the fact that the potter films are better made than the prequels but they don't come close to the immortal trilogy circa 1977-1983. for those who do not know what i'm talking about is the real star wars trilogy all but destroyed and butchered by the special editions and the prequels.

the only series that came close was peter jackson's lord of the rings, and that bastardization of the original books is so far removed from tolkien and his christian ethics and symbolism to almost be a joke.

Bond is ruined now because of casino royale and the firing of peirce the last good bond.

kingdom of the crystal skulls has to be the worst title since Attack of the clones.

very stupid and dumb idea.

plus the mcguffin in this movie is so rediculous being based on the novel chariot of the gods.

Its more sci fi than indiana jones.

i mean i might expect this shit plot with the x-files but not indiana jones.

no KOTOR 3 because of force unleashed?
Time
if this is really the case then i hope lucas enjoys the fact that he ruined another good aspect of the expanded universe.

force unleashed may look cool but it is written by and directed by lucas and is simply an add on to the dismal prequels while it further contradicts the original trilogy from 1977-1983. it even contradicts the prequels rule of 2.

Mass Effect from bioware may be a sweet game but it is certainly not Kotor III, no jedi or lightsabers. in fact looks like a halo clone with rpg elements.

Lucasarts missed the boat bu having obsidian do part II instead of bioware. part 2 was a critical flop despite good initial sales. obsidian asks lucas for the go ahead in late 2004 for kotor III and never got a reponse. shortly thereafter in 2005-2006 force unleashed was announced, lame.

Kinda Like how Del Rey and Lucas allowed Troy Dennng to first kill off Anakin Solo in the njo and suggest killing off mara in the legacy series. thanks to troy denning the expanded universe novels are ruined.

Windows Vista
Time
vista is absolute rubbish 90% of software and programs will not run on it. mircrosoft should not have released it until all the bugs were worked out.

they expect companies to redo all their software to be vista compliant rather than the other way around.

i thought XP problems were bad, compared to vista they are small hiccups.

windows 2000 was the last so called stable os in terms of testing the damn thing before they shipped it. had way less errors than XP or vista.

security on the XP os can be so easily compromised i swear microsoft has patches and updates all the time.
