that is my fave line in the whole original trilogy, and the reason my avatar is from that scene, LOL.

also the duel in jedi was always my favorite because not only was Luke finally Vader's equal but bests him in a lightsaber duel.

my favorite music is the music that plays over the scene where vader says he will turn Leia to the dark side and luke flipps out and finally decides to kill him. of course he does not.

the operatic music that plays there is a lot like a wagnerian opera piece.

just make sure you get the hardcover version of the making of star wars by rinzler i bought the trade edition and missed out on the exclusive bonus material like alex tavoularis and ivor beddoes storyboards.

cannot wait for his definitive making of raiders of the lost ark.

rinzler's next book sadly is the making of indy IV to tie in with when the movie comes out.

the coolest thing about the vault as far as i'm concerned is the reproduced pages of lucas empire strikes back handwritten treatment. from what i've heard it is only a couple of sample pages and is not complete, unless someone here says otherwise.

i've never understood why lucasfilm just does not release the scripts and prototype scripts and film treatments to the public in terms of "editions" in book form.

yes i know rinzler analyzes the journal of the whills treatment in the making of star wars but they did not reproduce it as a facsimile inside the book.

have you been sucessful in finding the comic scans and stuff? by the way a couple of the lensman books are now public domain and are up at project gutenberg for free in pdf and text as well as image files.

this question is rediculous it would be like saying you would give up godfather II and just have the godfather to get rid of the awful part III.

for the most part movie sequels are not better than the originals except for the exception of empire strikes back and godfather II, and star trek II.

back to the future II and III were inferior to part one, both rocky and rambo went down hill after film number one so also did die hard.

i actually prefer blu ray since it has uncompressed PCM which hd-dvd titles do not.

the thing that really pisses me off though is all the releases with mpeg-2 crap which is what caused artefacting on dvd to begin with.

VC-1 and avc titles are much better looking.

24 frames per second playback is also a must so blu ray wins again.

i hate beowulf because it is not based on the poem but a retelling from neil gaiman which has very little to do with the old english epic.

I will boycott this movie as i don't want another troy like farce which ruined the iliad for the big screen.

if they are not going to do the poem that tolkien loved justice then leave it alone.

who wants cgi fakery like polar express and bad directing via Bob zemechis who has not had a good film since forrest gump, and the first back to the future before that.

the film should have been filmed in iceland or new zealand.

the last beowulf film was much more close but even they chose to stray from the source, get it right or don't do it at all is what i have to say about it.

seriously had he not made american graffiti, star wars and raiders he would be a broke nobody who could not get a job in hollywood and if not for francis ford coppola would have been editing documentaries or be a grease monkey in an automobile garage.

seriously if you put all the turds lucas, speilberg and ron howard have produced together you get one big smelly pile of shit.

they have a few gems but mostly all crap.

Lucas just happens to have more flopps and turkeys than all of his buddies combined, more american grafiiti anyone?

is it just me or did george lucas leave plot holes so big between the original trilogy and the prequels big enough to float a death star through, LOL.

seriously he even created new incontinuities that were not there before.

he really must have been thinking harrison's line from raiders while he was writing the whole saga " i don't know i making this all up as i go".

I don't want to harp on the issue but the things George forgot about star wars is pathetic. in an interview he could not even quote the enchange between vader and kenobi from star wars 77, he wrote the damn thing and he forgot.

Lazy and moronic maybe he should have re-watched the oot and read the scripts again and consulted his star wars continuity buffs he hired at lucasfilm. he pays them to keep continuity in the eu but don't bother with those prequel movies. wow! the sheer audacity of his stupidity.

i mean how pathetic is it that they can somehow bring the star wars holiday special, the ewok films and cartoons and droids cartoon, the marvel comics, the videogames, the dark horse comics and del rey and bantam book lines into one eu continuity but lucas cannot bring the prequels in line with the oot.

i don't like dragonball Z or any of its sequels just the original dragon ball manga and anime.

which is pretty entertaining and if you can get over the superdeformed look of the characters is a brilliant piece of work.

Of course there are people on these forums who hate anime and japanese culture yet play video games, LOL and probably like transformers which both come from japan, heck this is a star wars forum and a lot of star wars like obi wan kenobi were japanese inspired.Toshiro mifune was originally going to play the part.

BLUE Dragon 360 game is going to rock as well as the anime when it hits stateside.

just a brilliant collaboration the creator of final fantasy, the character designer of dragon ball dargon ball Z and chrono trigger and nobue uematsu who scored most of the epic final fantasy series.

plus anyone who hates something because it is foreign is pretty narrow minded. Kurosawas films are some of the best films ever made.

Plus Akira and Ghost in the shell are great cinema as well as being great anime.

hayao miyazaki's films blow anything disney ever released or will out of the water.

manga art and anime in general and stories blow their american counterparts in comics and animation away, nobody in the west comes close to tezuka, or miyazaki.

most of anime i will admit is bad but some is great and even inspired the matrix.

Not all are pornos or fluff their are some good science fiction anime like i mentioned akira and ghost in the shell which are up their with blade runner and 2001 in terms of thinking mans science fiction. i would include armitage III up there as well.

their are also annoying anime that still make you think wtf? like neon genesis evangelion. make you want to scream at the tv and kick that kid shinji's ass for being a whiny emo bitch much like hayden christenson.

for the love of god please tell me you are going to do a dual layer dvd 9 480p.

you owe me or no one on these forums anything, yet i have been waiting for this release on dvd as the gout is unwatchable. i have the gout upscaled to anamorphic on sl dvd and it sucks.

funny how it is the best home video release ever for the oot and star wars, best it has ever looked and sharpest picture. notice how i said the best home video source so far for the original original trilogy, i did not claim it came close to the 35mm and 70mm prints that ran during its theatrical runs.

the closest release i have ever seen to the original cinema releases is the japan special collection even though the picture is shifted way up in the frame on standard definition tvs.

the japan special collection and us derived from same video master pre thx releases don't have the dvnr smearing.

believe it or not the monk jedi thing goes back to the rough draft screenplay also known as draft 1.

never forget a lot of the jettisoned ideas from those prototype scripts lucas went back to find a place in the prequels for.

a lot of these quote "ideas" were bad and so they were rejected for a reason.

it reads like a bunch of strung together vignettes with a larger story thread.

despite a couple interesting scenes like daala and tarkin it is rather a sucky novel.

the most interesting thing is the maw installation and the prototype death star are mentioned, meaning kevin j anderson's stories were not outright rejected even being retrofitted to fit the prequels, LOL. down to a new hope when the final death star I blows sky high.

the most irritating thing is the praxis ring from star trek VI that lucas saw to put in the special edition is mentioned, wow that was gay and lame all at once.

Of course it is called the plasma ring, LOL.

anyone here a fan of the golden age of comics as first appearing in newspapers. like Alex Raymond's Flash Gordon, and Harold Foster's Prince Valiant?

my fave artists from the golden age are alex raymond, harold foster and Jack Kirby and Al williamson in the later ages of comics.

I also like the very first original superman comics and the first x-men, fantastic four and new gods by marvel and dc repectively.

what do you expect lucas took the greatest space opera of the later 2oth Century and shit all over it to turn a huge profit.

The original trilogy lovingly evoked the classic sci fi and fantasy and space fantasy/space opera it was based and inspired by.

Things like E.E. "doc" smith's lensman saga, dune, lord of the rings, flash gordon via larry buster crabbe and alex raymond and al williamson, John Carter of mars series by Edgar Rice Burroughs and Tarzan.

the influences are endless.

if he was really trying to evoke milton's paradise lost he failed miserably. he seems to think he was doing a milton esque film with revenge see star wars in hell 60 minutes.

he seriously has to go back to college and learn how to write,LOL because he sucks.

even the pulp fiction and dime novels of the early twentieth century and the depression era movie serials which are today viewed as rubbish that star wars was based on were written better.

the new star trek the next generation region 1 set has all of the so called best buy bonus discs that were already included in the uk sets.

Plus a new bonus disc celebrating the 20th anniversary. cheaper than the other sets. a good deal unless you were scammed by paramount and bought the earlier releases.

people that already own the older releases should be able to get it seperately. they should sell it.

or they could at least offer the bonus features as a paid download like itunes or something.

Paramount's greed is rediculous selling the HD season 1 for star trek tos remastered for over 200 hundred bucks. they already have HD for enterprise on HDnet but no HD-DVD. i never bought the boxsets because 120.00 dollars a season is just too damn rediculous. and they said the reason why enterprise was cancelled and not revived was because of the lackluster dvd sales, lol. gee i wonder why they pretty much buried it under that hundred and twenty dollar pricetag. duh.

the HD revisions of tng and ds9 and voyager as well as the 10 films cannot be far behind. as well as the earlier enterprise not flmed in HD. TNG as far as i know was edited on videotape that is going to make its overhaul a lot harder than simply scanning and cleaning up old 35mm camera o-negs like tos. Sure the live action was most likely shot on film but the episodes final effects and editiing done on video. they would have to pretty much start from stratch and recreate the episodes using the video as a guide.

The special buffy disc in that giant boxset and the rambaldi alias box for the bonus disc of alias is lame because if you already own the seasons you are shit out of luck.

i know that as soon as lost is finished jj will probably have a disc exclusive to the uber lost boxset further irritating fans.

Kinda like universals double dip on season 1 of galactica and the mini series. you had to buy the season twice if you wanted the bonus material and commentary and if you already owned the bare bones bestbuy uk version region 1 you were pissed to have to plunk down another 50.00 bucks for them.

their are many bonus materials on tos of trek that are only other regions than region 1. supposedly germany or some shit got all the stuff we did not making fans that wanted such material to invest in imported sets.

i think i saw one once up on demonoid where they also had an unaired pilot for a new journey to the center of the earth and voyage to the bottom of the sea, LOL.

i like bionic woman and the new flash gordon in all their cheesiness but much prefer the new galactica.
