i don't own the laserdisc but it is the best available commercial and legal source for this film. too bad is is 4:3 and cropped to pan and scan the oar was 1:85:1 just like the first movie which is on dvd.

the laserdisc also has a short making of piece on it apparently.

the sequels are considered to be so universally bad i bet they will never get a dvd release as i've heard the fan demand is just not there and they won't put up the money.

the first film has a cult following and was an 80's fantasy classic flick.

and while we are on the subject 35.00 for a sealed as mint laserdisc is not expensive at all. i collect laserdiscs, and own the japan special collection for star wars which cost me a pretty penny, lol.

the thing with the holiday special is it has been taken out of canon continuity that is why it does not mesh well with empire strikes back.

besides the boba fett in the holiday special cartoon is more like the pre production fett super trooper johnston was working on and there were supposed to be an entire army of them.

not sure if this is where the whole clone trooper and mandalorian thing first came about, but i suspect it is.

one thing i liked about the holiday special cartoon as a kid, was the characters were voiced by ford, fisher, and hamill. then the droids and ewok cartoons happened and all they could afford was anothony "tony" daniels back as threepio. then fast forward to the genddy clone wars and lucas clone war cartoons and none of them were in the movies, although i have heard rumors the newest clone cartoons will have the real threepio.

and the whole retcon of the marvel into the eu continuity in legacy of the force was so stupid it is not too be believed, the dark lady of the sith from marvel was jacen solos second sith master, finding out vergere was his first.

not to mention the new novels are a complete retread of the horrible prequels and destroy any character development and good that came about from the njo.

the killing of mara was the last straw for me i consider anything but the new dark horse comics to be utter garbage.

how how many people do you normally pif something to when you get a couple 2 more people , five people?

i only have experience in pif adm's revenge of the sith edit.

usually i just trade away discs of fan projects i already have.

insurrection was a very thinly disquised look back at the united states history, just replace the baku with american indians or native americans.

their was even a next generation episode with wesley crusher and indians living on another planet being killed and run off by cardassians and wesley wanted to help them, and picards ancestors on old earth had something to do with what happened to them.

add to that elements of the search for the fountain of youth, an eden like or heaven like paradise, a bit too much like the planet in shatner's ashes of eden. that would have made a better trek 7 than generations.

the special longer version is the first version i ever saw as a kid on video so that is my favorite version. how are you going to fix the scene where kirk in his space suit in the widescreen version of the deleted scene in the longer cut goes out to save spock and the special effects are not even there all you see is a cut away sound stage.

i love the 1986 animated movie and hate the michael bay turd, is there any way your fan edit comes closer to the 1980 cartoons?

and the new animated series which looks worse than tartakoskys clone wars don't even get me started on that.

as far as i'm concerned this is another alternate universe transformers and has nothing to do with the official universe cannon, i'm speaking of the bay movie.

i would put classic g1 first then the simon furmon comics canon, and even the japan only headmasters series before this movie in terms of order of preference.

never mind that the live action transformers movie a misnomer since it was all fake cgi animated, was a rip off of literally every hollywood blockbuster i have ever seen. not suprising since the only good movie michael bay ever directed was the rock and that was a rip off of both james bond and indiana jones.

the restored original cut of superman was released in the box set, the first released disc had the incorrect remix 5.1 but the re-issued disc in the corrected boxset has the 2.0 which is a mixdown of the far superior pcm that was on the japan widescreen laserdisc, uncompressed.

i also have that tcm broadcast on 2 sl discs and it is crap quality in comparison to the official dvd release which is of course a dvd-9 and the official release does not have the offal compression artefacts.

the released blu ray is the donner directors cut and not the theatrical, extremely lame.

was there ever a remastered full frame of the theatrical version? on VHS or DVD?

i have heard the full frame laserdisc is crap and is clv.

according to some star wars is either about democracy or Fascism and star trek is anti christian, anti capitalist and communistic.

star wars is also about elitest demi gods, where democracy is a joke and does not work according to the guy who wrote for the prosecution in the star wars on trial book.

cannot remember his name he is a famous Hard SF author who contributed to the galactic gasbag blog.

in star trek warp 9 is nine times the speed of light, never mind the laughable transwarp type drive in voyager where with borg tech they went like warp 30.

hyperspace is as old as the science fiction genre being roughly equivalent to the speed of light .

i'm sorry to say it as i've been a star wars fan all my life, i tried really hard to like the prequels.

They are utter garbage and a waste of six hours of my life i'll never get back.

i also hate the 1997 and 2004 special editions since george used them to bury the oot forever, and even permanently alter the negatives a crime as far as i'm concerned.

mr lucas claims to be a film preservationist but butchered the physical negatives to create the 1997 special edition.

from what ive heard he also recalled all remaining film prints and had them destroyed.

only copies known to exist are the library of congress collection and the bfi as well as afi vaults.

and really bad quality 16mm dupes made in the nineties which are not the theatrical versions.

many copies probably ended up on ebay as single reels and not the complete film in 35mm, and im sure their are private collectors out their that george's stormtroopers have not gotten to, yet.

not to sound like a trekkie or anything but would the death od HD DVD mean we will get the remastered tos on blu ray and the movies as well?

does this mean that shows like heroes and battlestar galactica (new version) will be on blu ray?

i also hope it means movies like the matrix, star wars and lord of the rings are also coming to blu ray soon along with the whole james bond catalogue and the first 2 x-men films.

hey i already pointed out that the real 5.1 is on the us laserdisc boxset release of the 1997 special edition.

i'm sure their are plenty of people on these boards who lnow how to extract an ac3 soundtrack from a laserdisc.

i know that several people have used a 5.1 mix from 1997 from the special edition of a new hope, and that the audio files once were online in newsgroups and torrents and if no longer there you can ask people on these boards for help.

as for empire and jedi i have never heard of anyone using the 1997 mixes from the laserdiscs for their projects as a whole, other than taking bits and pieces like ocp movie did to recreate some of the 70mm sound mix differences.

why did lucas kick 20th century fox to the curb?

why does anakin have a padawan learner when he was not even given the rank of master in episode III?

the girl ahsoka is not the apprentice vader has in the force unleashed.

lucas has fudged over continuity once again.

and to top it off of all studios warner bros the studio that took THX 1138 away from him and recut it?

huh i thought george held a permanent grudge over that.

i can already see some fan taking this movie when it is on dvd and adding the fox fanfare and logo.

WB is not star wars. hell the only thing that makes sense it that at least cartoon network is getting the series.

i still feel ripped off that the movie is going to be in theaters and not on tv.

i guess old george's coffers are not quite stuffed enough with cash yet, Luca$h will have to be his name in the future.
