Crystall Skull has GL's fingerprints all over it

quote " I get the feeling that if Jaws were made today, Spielberg would use a CG shark."

Don't go giving Lucas and Spielberg any more ideas they already destroyed two beloved film franchises, i don't want jaws and close encounters to be next as it is Indiana Jones, E.T. and Star Wars have not come out unscathed. They think they enhanced the movies they murdered and butchered them, the same way George had anakin kill the sand people, lol.

Robert Harris Godfather Restoration WHY cannot lucas restore the oot ?
Time
quote form Harris "as long as the original damaged elements are re-vaulted in a state that has added no further damage."

Further damage was done by altering the original negative to add those bizarre and unneeded fake cgi.

No greater sin could have been commited by this so called and self named film preservationist than to actually physically cut up the camera negative.

So I was watching the AFI's 10 top 10 movies...
Time
Lucas won't even allow Afi to show film clips from the originals, he wants to keep the originals buried forever while at the same time doing revisionist history of lies that this was his original vision.

I agree with Gary Kurtz Lucas is full of Malarkey about this original vision crap to lie about why he had Greedo shoot first.

Spielberg and Lucas have clearly lost all sense they once had over filmaking, see the free hat episode of south park. Walkie talkies instead of guns in e.t. and greedo shooting first. Never mind the piece of trash that is Indiana Jones IV.

Next thing you know Spielberg will replace Jaws with a even faker looking cgi shark.

STAR WARS V8 - A Final Attempt (Released)
Time
this project sounds a lot like dark jedi's unreleased japan special collection project that would be free of the subtitles.

I have his v1 with the subs intact, the darkcassidy one.

Still interested in your attempt though and the results.

up until the definitive collection boxset the return of the jedi jsc release was the only CAV version. Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back both got CAV versions in pan and scan in analog sound only. in the us, not only that but the first issue rotj was time compressed or some such and the only release that was not was the ced 2 disc caddy version.

I know it sounds a bit pathetic but i wish Jedi got a CAV full frame version as well, to finish the set.

Also the pre thx return of the jedi letterbox was not centered into frame correctly the 1993 dc and the 1995 faces were the first time this was corrected.

Quote: Star Wars 1982 PAL Laserdisc
Time
Also the first pal releases were very bad nstc to pal versions and all suffer from laser rot even those that are still sealed.

I find it funny that earlier releases coming from the same video masters in germany for instance get collectors rates, but not the uk versions.

The uk version i have of return of the jedi has nice cover art, they are certainly collectible for this reason alone. Though i don't have a pal capable player.

Info: another 16mm print of SW on eBay
Time
I had a friend in Poland who had a 16mm low fade lpp scope print of return of the jedi but he had to sell it because he could not find a digital transfer facility willing to take the risks involved with a copyrighted work.

Besides he also needed the money for his college tuition in Germany.

I remember he had access at one point to a very bad quality 1977 print of star wars without the a new hope subtitle. A guy he knew on ebay was selling and he asked me if i was interested in bidding on it. Of course i had little to no money, so i passed on it. It went for something like 400 american dollars or something. it may have even been a very bad 16mm dupe, there was little or no color left in the reels and there was very noticeable wear and tear and what people call cigarette burn when a print is shown far too many times.

I also came across in my ebay searching many prints from germany aka krieg der sterne with the german title scroll and even german dubbing people in the us still paid a few hundred dollars for them.

the one time that flat full frame prints showed up on ebay for star wars, empire strikes back and return of the jedi starting bids were 20.00 us and no one bid they were even full feature 8mm prints.

the six reel derann print for return of the jedi 8mm scope sold for about 600 dollars, i bid but that was way too much money. this was quite a few years ago.

The most absurd thing i have ever seen is a revenge of the jedi trailer 35mm flat print from the national screen service still sealed go for around 400 dollars just because it had a few seconds of the deleted sandstorm sequence in it.

very recently on ebay a 70mm portion of a mag sountrack reel of return of the jedi showed up on ebay the guy even claimed it had minor water damage. the thing still sold for like 150 bucks even if it was only good for film cells.

stupid question about the OOT DVD's
Time
there also appears to be hong kong bootleg laserdisc of the 1995 full frame releases.

They could be legit but from what i heard the quality was horrendous so they must be bootlegs or maybe fox and lucasfilm had little care for quality control in HK.

They also have mandarin subs burnt into the whole movie overlaid over the picture since this was a full frame release and not widescreen the subs cannot be below the black letterbox bars.

I have Dark Jedi's Full Frame Faces releases that would be the pan and scan vhs tapes released in 1995, on three dvdr's. I remember when he originally capped them he needed help with finding a way to defeat macrovison an analogue version of what today would be called drm on dvd, hd-dvd and blu ray.

The japan special collection was the very first home video widescreen release, that is it was not a 9th generation widescreen bootleg vhs tape.

there was a scope ken films version of part 2 of their star wars digest, not mentioned in their catalogue. Though how many people had a way to project 8mm film in their homes. The films themselves were cheap and cheaply produced but the equipment to project them at the proper film speed with sound was not. It would have been an expensive hobby even in 1970's terms.

Somebody ought to start a thread welcoming all the tfn gushers with open arms.

Seems like only five or six people on these boards actually care and hope for restored versions of the oot, since the gout came out this site has become lets edit the special edition fan edit site. As Neil S Bulk claimed in a thread a while back and i have to agree with him.

If your still in High School what do you know about the original trilogy from 1977-1983

You probably were not even born yet, so how can you possibly know what it was like when star wars actually meant something to a generation of people, the story and the deep roots in mythmaking had very little to do with special effects.

"Special effects are just a tool, a means of telling a story. People have a tendency to think of them as an end in themselves, a special effect without a story is a pretty boring thing" George Lucas from star wars to jedi.

This line by Lucas is pure genious and shows just where hollywood has gone wrong in the modern movie making era, of course this was said by the George Lucas who i had immense respect for before he went off the rails and destroyed the original trilogy with cgi.

This was before he made 4 films that were a special effect without a story, and before he had greedo shoot first.

Then again you probably also believe the lie that star wars has always centered around the story of darth vader, when in fact it was the adventures of Luke Skywalker.

Lucas the self named film preservationist chose to bury the originals instead of restore them for future generations, thereby giving the finger to us true fans who were there since the beginning and made him rich in the first place. Only later would we realize we had created a monster the first inkling was the 1997 special editions, to the first moment Jar Jar pops up on screen in the phantom menace.

Star Wars Trilogy 1977-1983 R.I.P.

The true trilogy lives on in our hearts and minds.

Luca$ will not get another dime from me until he restores the originals i am boycotting the Clone Wars movie, as i should have KOTCS but i gave Spielberg the benefit of the doubt. Which i now take back since i want my money back for both War of the Worlds and the hack cash in crystal skull.

Info & Help Wanted: Return of the Ewok preservation?
Time
yeah the web version though uses an incorrect soundtrack aka willow instead of the music in the original since they would likely have to pay the artists royalties for that song.

some of the better quality footage available on the 4 disc dvd set from 2004 of star wars special edition was not used by ocpmovie because it was outakes or alternate versions of the same scene.

Indiana Jones IV
Time
WARNING SPOILERS READ AT OWN RISK!

You can get every Indiana Jones Movie script online except for Crystal Skull. There is no illustrated screenplay, or facsimile script book.

Though with some searching like I did you can find Indiana Jones And The Saucer Men from Mars, Indiana Jones and the Monkey King, and Of Course, City of the Gods. All are legitimate scripts for Indy 4.

The one closest to what we finally got yet different is City of the Gods. For Instance in the Darabount Script opens with lizards instead of prairie dogs, and the song shake rattle and roll instead of hound dog by elvis. The music was swapped to a different scene.

There are some very bad lines of dialogue equal or worse than what ended up in the movie. Like Henry Sr. Slapping Indy in the face because he was accused at the university and by the gov. as being a commie and wanted to walk away, he says to henry jones jr aka indiana, "now i know why you're are named after the dog"

When Connery turned the project down it is fairly obvious that the father son relationship was shifted to be between Indiana and his son.

This is why the mutt character is not in this draft.

Also the Script by Frank Darabount seems to be as much Pastiche Raiders as it is Last Crusade.

At least Steven and George aimed to have kotcs stand on its own merits whether they failed or succeeded is another matter entirely.

Too bad that it seemed to be more of a nostalgia trip than a film all its own. It relies on the good films in the series to be enjoyed, same with the star wars prequels people tolerated there mediocre plot because of the love they bore for the originals from 1977-1983.

Then again Raiders seems to be the only film in the series that holds up to repeated viewings. I used to Love Last Crusade and to an extent i still do but i do notice flaws in it some minor and others major.

Other than the bits cobbled together from the raiders script namely the best scenes in the film of temple of doom shanghai and the mine cart sequence, the film is an entire waste. If it was not for Williams providing some wonderful music that film would fall flat.

I will admit i even enjoyed the ludicrous raft moment in the film everyone seems to compare to the nuked fridge which brought me straight out of the movie willful suspension of disbelief only goes so far. Star Wars can get away with things Indiana Jones cannot, Indiana Jones is not science fiction and while the series fiction pretends to be set in the real world.

Lucas cannot get away with the same excuse as once upon a time, or A long Time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.

Indiana Jones IV

It turns out Michael Bay's prediction was true this movie does indeed suck.

I cannot wait for The Dark Knight to bury this movie since Iron Man was unable to. the new Batman flick is gonna rock. The trailer of it before indy was better than the movie proper, you know something is wrong when a coming attractions is better than the movie you pay upwards of 8.00 dollars to see at a matinee.

Even the rediculous over laden cgi trailer for Hellboy II was more entertaining and had less cringe worthy humor.

Ox was a retard the whole movie until the end, i really almost thought it was the second coming of Jar Jar Binks.

Never mind the russians somehow in about thirty seconds outrunning a h-bomb blast when you have to be five miles away to be safe, and indy sailing through the air in a refrigerator that somehow prevented him from being incinerated just because it was lead lined, LOL.

The warehouse looked entirely fake and like it was greenscreened in the same old rolls royce warehouse they shot the prequels. Spielberg may think the matte painting at the end of Raiders looked fake but i actually like that and hated this.

I am also confused as to why spielberg elected to shoot this all on film, it really seems a waste if it has fake cgi rendered in a computer in 90% of the movie.

the koepp script is absolute rubbish after writing this and war of the worlds the guy should never be allowed to write another movie, spielberg also should give up directing both films sucked.

Spielberg is directing the first Tintin Film next it is an entirely computer rendered animated movie like Beowulf, i hope that and lincoln don't suck.

I have much more faith that Peter Jackson will do a good job than Spielberg.

You would think for a movie that had been in development for 18 years and that cost reportedly almost 200 million to make would be a better film.

Raiders cost was something like 35 million and that movie is a million times better than crystal skull. More Like Indiana Jones and The temple of the crystal turd.

I think Connery was on to something when he turned this movie down, but then again all one has to do is watch the lackluster prequels. Anything with Lucasfilm on it these days must be treated with utmost suspicion.

What was that cool website with all the rare photos?
Time
flash is dumb because you have to leave your computer vulnerable by changing your firewall settings to get pages to display properly, or at least this has been the case for me in firefox and explorer .

I refuse to allow such programs to put junk on my computer, if they cannot put up a page in html then they won't see me visiting there page.

I have the same problem with the new bond movie site, quantum of Solace. and i have the latest updates from the adobe.

1,900 is cheap, damn cheap for an X-0 Player especially if it is sold by a reputable seller who offers a warranty and guarantee on all parts.

I cannot afford that now but back when i got my collection of laserdiscs i could have.

Kinda rediculous to spend over a few years a couple of thousand dollars on discs and have only a low end 60 dollar laserdisc player, LOL.

I could afford it today only if i did not pay my rent for about 3 months.

Wookie Groomer's 1080p Star Wars Saga project (Released)
Time
Since when are dvd's used for broadcast, they are not HD quality in any sense of the word. Don't the station have Digital Video Tapes in some HD format?

The films were scanned by lowry at much higher resolution than dvd (2k or 4k?) and lucasfilm has those digital video masters, which they gave lower quality copies of to stations like cinemax better quality than the dvd still not full resolution equal to a blu ray release.

Idea: Star Wars Games Preservation
Time
I remember reading about shadows of the empire as a project to be made into a fanedited movie using the game cutscenes and voiceovers from the PC version as well as the picture only n64 version.

Someone should put up a thread for the Indiana Jones games made for the Nintendo entetainment system Like Raiders of the Lost ark and temple of doom, as well as the PC versions. noy for movie edits but there seem to be some many type of threads like this for star wars and none for Indiana Jones.

You also have the Fate of Atlantis Indiana Jones PC game that was adapted for comic books by Dark Horse Comics.

Then there is the infernal machine and emperor's tomb.

A video only demo for the new unreleased game simply titled Indiana Jones that uses the same engine as force unleashed.

What systems was Last Crusade released on?

One of my Favorite games is the snes trilogy game for indiana jones produced by the super star wars trilogy team, i remember being wowed by the JVC music in midi form on the game. One of the reasons i went out and bought the remastered score for raiders produced by Nick Redman.

The nes version of empire strikes back when it was released was simply awesome the game had still like cutscenes and a scene where Luke Confronts Vader and even James Earl Jones vader voice was sampled in the game.

Unlike the atari game this game had the first satisfactory rendering of the battle of hoth where you could wrap the tow cable around the walker. The same scene was redone and revisited in mode7 when super empire was released for the snes.

As for movies made from games one i wish someone would do is Mass Effect, or blue dragon.

I saw one as new X-0 player sell for 10 thousand american dollars on ebay once, this guy online sells an as new x-9 for about 9,500.

only really rich people seem to have these players are they are becoming even more rare as collectors buy them up.

I have no idea how much one of these players would cost you in japan if you knew japanese and the dollar to yen difference.

People who sell them in the us seam to sell them for 2 to 3 times what they are worth just for greed and profit.

That being said i have seen the pioneer elite cld-99 with the rf output go on ebay for a high as 400.00 dollars, $750-950 new as well.

the X-0 team does not have the player so asking them to preserve your laserdisc treasures is a waste of their time and yours.

They had some unnamed benefactor who owned the player. supposedly the player had been moded for RGB output.
