What's up with all the right-wingers on this site?
Time

I had to LOL when he started this thread in response to something i wrote.

Because I am a registered Independent, not a Republican and I don't watch Fox News.

My opinions are my own.

They come from life experience and my faith.

I happen to come from the most liberal state in the union   Massachusetts.

Where the legislature illegally pushed through Gay marriage without it even coming to a vote.

Speaking as a fan of anime I wish they would hurry the fuck up and do season 2 of Haruhi Suzumiya .

Kyoani must not realize it has been 2 years going on 3 and still nothing.

I guarantee they will do season 2 of clannad before they release the new series of suzumiya haruhi as it is known in japan.

Sure i can read the fansub of the novel of the vanishment of Haruhi Suzumiya but that is not the same thing.

Another thing that pisses me off.

Funimation bought the license to ova 1 and ova 2 of tenchi forcing the pioneer dvds to slip out of print, they did they same with Love Hina.

They did nothing with either license except make the prices of the older dvd's skyrocket.

Funi also botched the dragonball boxset and did not even bother trying getting Petrea Burchard back for ova 3 of tenchi.

Zatch Bell anyone? LOL.  the chick who voiced zatch bell as ryoko.

They also got the rights to negima season 2 and did nothing with it.

They cry bloody murder on the fansubbers for a show they have no intent to release, they only purchased the rights seemingly to squash fansubbing.

The Dark Knight Movie Discussion (July 18th, 2008)
Time

The thing is i always thought the Joker was some kind of mad court jester type character as seen in the modern comics and the animated series.

He is insane and laughs at his own jokes.

Did you think the big screen Joker Heath played was a little too close to the Mark Hamill Joker on tas?

I actually like Mark Hamill's better.

Though he embraced Heath in the role, which was pretty gracious.

Dark Knight's biggest failing is the fact that it is a Nolan original script and does not adapt a comic.

Batman Begins was so successful because it adapted the best batman comic ever by Frank Miller, Year one.

They had a lot of material they could have used over about 70 years worth of stuff.

They could have done the killing joke, or the long Halloween.

How do you think the ultimate release will turn out (best case scenario)?
Time

To me the gout represents the glass fully empty.

But you are entitled to your own opinion.

By the way the gout being representative of the oot on the 2006 release was Jim Ward's idea.

The same Jim ward who stepped down but was probably really fired.

To Lucas these versions no longer exist, period.

I was not so many years ago lucas said "well you guys have that on vhs. and im not paying money for that on dvd." or something like that.

This November: The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia
Time

The original book was great.

I still have a copy someplace.

But will i buy the new one when the update will only be Prequels crap, and the ruination of the eu aka legacy.

I will skip it.

I have boycotted del rey by not buying there books because they killed off a beloved character from the bantam days.

EU since it has been in the last decade sucks, it had to be rewritten backwards to fit Lucas crappy prequels. And every book needs to reference them and tie into them.

The prequels ruined everything that was good about star wars fandom.  Even the games have to be prequel heavy.

Remember when star wars was three pretty good movies and people could use their imagination to make up the backstory in their own mind.

Remember when it was not such a small enclosed universe where authors could extrapolate and come up with new adventures and stories that were fun.

If they are really going with depp as the joker and Jolie as catwoman i say lets all start a boycott of the movie.

It will be like batman and robin mixed with Halle version of catwoman, awful.

The Villain from Mission Impossible III as the penguin.

What are they fucking retarded?

Depp as the riddler?  Not sure he can play serious and funny both so who knows.

Watchmen Film
Time

Hopefully the real movie uses new music and not music from batman and robin like the trailer.

Whoever made up that trailer should be fired as memories of batman and robin need not be associated with Watchmen.

I am hoping the movie is not another excuse to badmouth bush and the war on terror.

Those elements In V for Vendetta and Dark Knight took me out of the movie.

I go to the movies to be entertained and forget about the real world for 2 hours of fantastic entertainment.

Hollywood needs to be reminded i could just stay home and watch Fox News or cnn instead.

My 12.50 need not pay for a directors personal politics and using a movie to flip the bird at GW Bush is kinda a waste of time.

What sense?

Nobody will go see a cgi crapfest starring Shia.

Hopefully Harrison Has the common sense to turn this turd down.

Indiana IV already ruined the franchise, it is not like they cannot do worse.

After reading this i am convinced Lucas is a loon.

http://www.obsessedwithfilm.com/movie-news/george-lucas-on-indiana-jones-v.php

Mutt Williams and the search for George Lucas's soul, That he sold to the devil to make the prequels.

Now that i would pay to see.

Or alternate Title. George Lucas and the Search for more Fanboy money, we make our crap for the tfn crowd.

There are cheaper items signed by George during the original trilogy era and afterwards.

The George Lucas of today his signature is worthless.

4000 bucks to furthur help him bury the oot, sorry not me.

I have a magazine starlog from the tenth anniversary of star wars sold to me by a former editor at starlog on ebay with authenticity and pictures of George signing the actual article.

Unlike 90% of the ebay stuff this is real.

I won't say what i paid but it was not 4000 dollars.

George Lucas is a god in his own mind, and has got those tfn gushers believing and drinking the cool aide.

Did anybody see Wall-E?
Time

While monsters versus aliens may not be the best, i probably won't watch it the cgi looks horrible imho.

Can it possibly be as bad as Shrek 4 or 5 without Andrew Adamson?

Whats next Ice Age 4 and 5, LOL.

Iron Giant is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. The modern art deco crossed with the old school anime look as far as i am concerned had fail written all over it.

Keep it American style or Japan style that cheap cgi hybrid shit they do in the usa these days is dumb.

Disneys next movie animation theatrically is the frog princess. At least I think that is what it is called.

The frog sounded like the old WB frog in the trailer, and the frog from the animation one froggy evening cartoon. One word dumb, i'll be suprised if the WB don't sue disney.

Saw the new Clone Wars tv preview still looks like a video game cutscene from a ps2 game.

Did anybody see Wall-E?

Apparently Wall-E is generating enough oscar buzz to be a contender for best animated film of 2008 for the 2009 oscars.

According to entertainment weekly but I don't always take those guys word for things.

They lost a lot a credibility after Giving Indiana Jones IV 4 out of 5 stars.

They gave dark knight the same rating blaphemy, LOL.

Also they made bad jokes about Gay guy pedophile or something to that extent, about Heath's Joker performance.

That took a total lack of class, especially since the poor guy is dead.

Plus they had to talk of the oscar potential while bashing just like fanboys on a harry knowles website.

Then again the academy is a bunch of idiots i say, because they Gave the best animated feature award to wallace and gromit in 2006 instead of Hayao Miyazaki's howl's moving castle.

And it is claymation not even animation, morons.

Adv i though had the license to Cyborg009 then lost it just like they lost the License to Gurren Lagann and other shows.

I'm surpised they have not declared bankruptcy yet, since Pioneer usa folded and now the japan half of bandai (bandai Visual usa) in the usa is closing and merging with its usa counterpart bandai ent.

I wonder how many of those shows that were goint to be sub only and at japanese prices will now cost less and be dubbed by bang zoom entertainment, like Haruhi and Lucky Star starring Wendee Lee.

As for tenchi the absolute worst thing funimation ever did was not get Petrea Burhard back as Ryoko for the english dub for OVA 3. OVA s not as bad as its rep states but the animation style is different and worst of all at the end the harem still continues with 2 new girls.

The characterizations of the original characters are left in pieces and replaced with not needed new characters.

Plus Ova and and canon spinoff galaxy police transporter added more sexyness without any context, really just to whore the show out.

The director instead of milking it should have had tenchi choose Ryoko, instead it was left up to the non canon universe tv series and movies to do this.

I don't like the ending of the tenchi in tokyo series but i still can forgive a lot in that show because it was Petrea Burchard as Ryoko in the dub.

OVA III sucks i want the old sassy and wild ryoko back!

Actress brought believability to the whole silly space pirate concept.

I won't even bother talking about how Pioneer even further went away from the original shows concept to whore it as a magical girls show pretty sammy, awful!

Never watched it even except for the 2 side stories from the original tenchi muyo.

Cringe worthy except for making fun of Bill Gates as biff standard, even the fighting between Ryoko and Ayeka was funny until it got old.

To be fair to negative 1 the dialogue is different in the final film than in the shooting script.

You want the llines as they were delivered in the film you need the transcripts aka continuity scripts.

Which were sold in the uk seperately and also came with the executor boxset which i have.

There are 2 versions of the fourth draft script out there.

The real shooting script which appears to be the same source Alan Dean Foster used for the novel, and the published final script.

It was first released in the art of star wars book.

Even the premiere magazine script still contains the deleted biggs scenes and the Jabba scene.

The scripts that have been released or leaked out are over at the starkiller site of the jedi bendu.

Just type starwarz.com and youll find the link there.

The Dark Knight Movie Discussion (July 18th, 2008)
Time

As i have already said batman killing the Joker is withing his character because Bob Kane allowed that on the 1989 film.

Christopher Nolan did not create Batman, Bob Kane did.

I think his the true author of batman can say what and what is not batman too bad he is dead.

The only film the author approved was the first batman film starring Michael Keaton and directed by Tim Burton.

As i have already mentioned the new batman films fit more in the Frank Miller batman universe than they do Kane's.

Anything not worked on by Bob Kane is EU. In the Same way all star wars stories not by Lucas are.

Same with the Bond Films and Star Trek. They can add the created by and trademark all they want it does not validate it as the original authors intent or an extention of their work.

as i posted earlier and nobody responded to:

quote "I don't think I've read a single "Batman" comic where Batman *didn't* save the Joker when he was about to die.  That's completely in character for Batman - it was Burton's version that was out of character for him.'

I don't have a problem with those changes.  Because they were approved by batmans real author bob kane, and added a dramatic backbone the story needed.

Even if it became silly in execution.

The only batman that is truly canon is that written By Bob Kane.  all the rest are like EU.

That is fact, no matter how much i like batman year one that is Frank Miller's take on a character that has gone through hundreds of changes and permutations since the forties, there is no real "definitive" composite batman.

I love that frank miller comic where batman literally loses it and beats the Joker to death with his bare hands.

Not sure if i'm remembering right it is either dark knight returns or its sequel.

I remember the sequel was Frankly nuts and completely out of character for batman.

Whatever happened to that Batman versus Superman movie.  I would love to see that as Supes would clean Batman's clock.

That is the title of the second mclory remake of thunderball which was never made.

Mclory croaked. so what is this a bad late april fools joke?

I think Pierce still had another film or two in him but they replaced him with Craig and now it is time officially to move on, sad as it may be to us Pierce Brosnan fans, and daniel craig haters out there.

To me bond is Connery and Brosnan, end of story.

Though  grew up in the moore/dalton era they never were bond to me.  and who is this Lazenby guy, LOL.

Whatever happened to all the discussion about GL being hypicritical with his opposition of the colorization of black and white films?
Time

The quote by Lucas was:

“I am very concerned about our national heritage, and I am very concerned that the films that I watched when I was young and the films that I watched throughout my life are preserved, so that my children can see them,”

It should be revised like this to refer to what he actually stands for in reference to the original star wars trilogy.

“I am very deliberate in rewriting our national heritage, and I am very adamant that the films that you watched when you were young and the films that you watched throughout your life are destroyed, so that your children can never see them".

Looks like he is even more gone that i thought.  link here: http://www.obsessedwithfilm.com/movie-news/george-lucas-on-indiana-jones-v.php

What about the Remastered Star Trek or E.T.
Time

Quote "YOU HAVE NO SAY on what should/shouldn't be done to a film.."

Sure you do at least in the united states.

You answer and protest with your money aka your wallet by closing it tightly and never giving pukas another dime until the oot is restored.

The fans made him rich to begin with by paying to see the films, you don't bite the hand that feeds you. Nor do you anger your core fanbase by giving them the finger and saying obstinately, i'll do what i want like a 2 year old.

Films and their art become a part of public record and history, if that was not the case then the library of congress would'nt be spending our tax dollars to preserve them. George Lucas is largely erasing history and rewriting it by denying a real restoration. Which would make the original versions viable for theatrical exebition as well as for home video.

As Robert Harris has stated restoring a film for home video is not preservation at all, while the original elements and negatives are not protected for the future. His restoration of the godfather was a proper restoration because it provided a new negative and to have the movies in the future to be shown on the big screen if needed. As far as i know the only version of blade runner that was restored for theatrical restoration was the final cut. So to everyone saying to the contrary the theatrical has not been restored at all for theatrical use, home video does not count even in HD.

The original superman prints and negatives are in poor shape and warners refused to restore them for theatrical exhibition, again the home video telecine does not count as preserving the film for posterity.

Warners also let the original prints on the star trek films fade, and the o-neg on the movie just like star wars is in poor shape. They think wrongly that scanning/doing a telecine for home video and color correction on computers is restoring the movie. This is false, the original elements are slowly degrading and at some point we may be never to have them again for theatrical presentation.

If lucas could get off his high horse and allow Robert Harris to go through the cold storage vaults as Lucas skywalker ranch LFL archive and fox and technicolor allow him access to their vaults to find the necessary elements to save the theatrical cuts of the films before it is too late. As it stands they can never be exhibited again in theaters, at this point even a dvd quality release of the oot is not enough if the films themselves turn to dust.

He did more harm than help to the original elements to create the special editions. Can that be undone at this point i would like to see what RAH could do to rectify the situation.

Too bad the original star wars trilogy is not an orphan film and public domain as fans could come up with the money for the restoration themselves. The government and films societies would obviously donate as well. Too bad we live in a mad world were insane people are in control and want to destroy our beloved childhood memories and favorite movies.

I'm beginning to wonder if george lucas is the devil as one poster jokingly wrote as his sig.
