When and How Does Fel set up the rival Imperial Academy of Jedi or the Imperial Knights.

If another war is brewing that the Jedi will be drawn into which Side will the Mandalores and Fett be on.

To me it is tied between Vader and Luke in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, though ive always thought the empire duel the best, i still Love it in ROTJ when Luke just goes nuts on Vader.

Luke gets owned in Empire Strikes Back, and when they duel at the start in Jedi Luke and Vader are equalls, but because Vader is an old man and mostly machine Luke Bests him.

If it had been Luke Versus a Non cybernetic Vader the results would have probably been far different.

The Luke in the original trilogy could never best any of the old jedi from the fallen order during the old republic, But the Superhuman Luke from the EU who can seemingly cleave a stardestroyer in half with his lightsaber could take even prequel Anakin.

How about the Force Unleashed conforms to the canon theatrical and dvd versions of the film where Shak Ti is not shown being killed, therefore she could have survived order 66.

The death of Shak Ti like the beginning of the rebellion deleted scenes are no longer canon if they ever were and have been replaced by the scenes in force unleashed.

Probably the Only G canon game since Lucas worked on it.  Or if not G canon then one level below that, so pretty damn close.

I will pay to see the sequel if at the end of this movie the timeline is restored, and they have New writers and a new director on the sequel and somehow have a cameo role for William Shatner as Captain Kirk.

I would see it if the Enterprise in the movie is the real movie enterprise from films 1-6 and not an abomination by a prequel star wars designer.

Or if the film fails return to the same Trek universe as before only go forward in time and have new actors, new characters.  Show Them boldy going and exploring where no one has gone before, way into the future past the picard era. Why go backward instead of forward?

I have come to the conclusion prequels suck in general.  I would have rather had a real star wars sequel trilogy rather than those dreadfull prequels we are forced to accept as canon.

In fact the only prequel that worked imho is the batman Begins and Dark Knight reboots. 

I mean Bond was not a true prequel in Casino Royale despite being a fine action film in its own right, and Quantum of Solace was less than Satisfactory.

I have come to the conclusion to Enjoy the new JJ trek verse you have had to have no interest or knowledge of star trek or seen little or none of the older films or tv series.  You have to pretend the other films and shows don't exist.  I could not do that for bond and i cannot do that for star trek either.

Batman was easier because it returned the series to its noir crime fighter roots, and plus i was not a huge batman fan anyway.

Yeah film fans wanted Indy to remain an aventurous bachelor forever and be forever youthfull like james bond, to do that Lucas and Ford need to recast the role.

I could have understood a prequel Indy film starring Sean Patrick Flannery as Indiana Jones.  How old is that actor now?

Do you think Instead of the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles if River Phoenix did not die it would have been a natural progression for them to make YOUNG INDY prequel films.

The only things I have really hated about the EU is the characters they killed off in the new jedi order and legacy series, really.  That and now all the books have to be tied down by prequels bullshit, which was not the case prior to 1999.  The more they stay true to the original trilogy pre special edition, and try to write the sequels to Return the Jedi lucas is not doing the better.

Overall del rey has done a good job despite for misgivings i have.  Even though i have a soft spot for the bantam era there were a lot of flaws in those books too.  But back then star wars did not have to be dark and realistic because it was the in thing to do.  Star Wars to me is space fantasy adventure stories that are escapism in its purest sense.  What I want are real heroes not Good guys who are realy bad guys or called "grey".  These reluctant heroes and politics bullshit, and emo whiny bicthes have no place in star wars imho.

Yes i have read dark Lord and like the episode III novelization it is a good EU lead in to Star Wars 77 or Episode IV for saga fans.  I have already said the novelizations were better than the films because they were written by people who could write and are actually writers, Unlike Lucas who took a lot of credit for Kasdens writing on the original trilogy.

Actually that is not really true or fair, Lucas could not spell and had a hard time writing but the scripts he put out and ideas despite being prototypes and unfinished were a hundred times better than the prequel drek.  That 1974 rough draft script draws a lot on classic science fiction and fantasy and would in itself have made an interesting if very different film.

Axia up to a certain point i have bought and read all the sequel trilogy era novels set after return of the jedi and starring Luke.  After all Luke was the character i most related to decades ago.  And still is my favorite character.  I would rather read about his and Han Solo's and Leia's adventures than read about Hayden Vader or anakin in the prequel as it finally shaped up to be in the films.  Novels based on the real and true origins of the oot that disregard the filmed prequels I would read in a heartbeat.

Lucas should hand over his original notes and outlines to some novelists and have them shape the novels to fit the real original trilogy from 1977-1983.  and also he can hand them over to filmakers and screenwriters that give a damn, and Have them reshoot the prequels.  Then we can all pretend the prequels we have never happened or were a bad dream.

Hire good actors use traditional old school effects and stunts and little or no cgi, have dirctors who work with  actors well and are capable of getting a performance.

Yeah i saw the prequels in the theaters and will shamefully admit i have them in my collection, and even enjoy some parts of them to a far lesser degree than the original trilogy.  Did they live up to twenty years of anticipation, not one freakin bit.  But neither did Crystal Skull.   And i lowered my expectations and still was dissapointed.  If they were even 50% as good as the originals i would forgive a lot.  As is i say about 15% of the movies content is acceptable.

The Al Williamson stuff is great i love it.  still it is deliberate Pastiche of Alex Raymond's Flash Gordon from when Raymond drew the strip.  The Inking and line work is very much Like Joseph Clement Coll.

Williamson was also influenced by Wally Wood of EC comics, Harold Fosters Prince Valiant and Milton Caniff's Terry and the Pirates.

He was also an avid movie serial fan, and swashbuckling film addict.  Flash Gordon with Buster Crabbe, Errol Flynn in The Sea Hawk, Captain Blood and the adventures of robin hood, stewart granger in Scaramouche etc.

I am still looking for the original Color Sundays by williamson and goodwin.  The Dark Horse trades have the new artwork and redone edits to make the classic star wars comic series and the dailies were colored and the sundays were re-colored.  Unlike the Star Wars a long time ago volume reprints of the marvel comics no care was taken to preserve the original color.

Still I have the Entire original run in black and white uncut from Russ Cochrane Publishing in a three volume slipcased set signed on the title page by goodwin and williamson. Nobody has ever scanned these volumes.

Too bad i don't have a hi resolution scanner or a scanner of any kind,lol.

The reality of the situation as much as it pains me to say it, is George Lucas competence as a filmaker ended a long time ago.  And now Spielberg joins him with War of the Worlds and Indy 4.

There is a slight possibility Spielberg has another good film or 2 in him.

I would not trust Lucas with any level of star wars continuity at this point whether it be comic book, video game, novel, cartoon or film.

And those small films of his he has been talking about since 1983 i'm still waiting for those, while he rehashes star wars and indiana jones to were they are just crap series now.  Only 50% of the star wars series and Indiana Jones series are good.

When was the last time he brought in new writers and allowed them to do their own thing. The Genddy animated series.

If any more star wars films are made they should be made by Different writers or directors than Lucas or any one currently employed by LFL.  The Clone Wars 2008 cartoon could have been good if Filoni was given free reign with the writers and George only took on an executive producers role. 

The live action show will suffer the same fate if lucas runs the whole show.

Too bad for Gillard he worked as a stunt co-ordinator on three videogames masquerading as movies, unlike Bob Anderson who worked on three great star wars films in the only real star wars films at least to me.

Its really a shame too as Ray Park's Brilliant martial arts work is entirely wasted on a bad film with fart and poop jokes and bad cgi from the late 90's.

So far what i have read, i have not completely finished the book yet, sucks.  I guess after Shadows of Mindor sucked i would give del rey another shot.

Aaron Allstons new novel is lame and boring as hell.

A waste of 27 dollars. 

The book reads like it was slapped together in 2 days.

There is also an unabridged audio version on CD but i think i will save my money.

That is actually the Phase II enterprise on the pre release motion picture poster, and not the model they actually used for the refit 1701 in the movie.

This model or design had never been used in until New Voyages fan film series, now called Phase II used the design for their refit enterpise which unfortunetely being a fan film series is shot on video and not on film and the spaceships are all cgi, kinda like this JJ movie only a lot lower budget.

I cant wait to see the motion picture theatrical version hit home video in high definition for the 30th anniversary of the motion picture.  A much better way to celebrate than this overwrought cgi farce coming in may.

I actually looking forward to FanFiltrations extended motion picture of star trek in widecreen way more than this new movie.

I feel bad for Trek fans.  They finally know what it feels like for fans of star wars, Indiana Jones to watch their fave series go down in flames for the highest profit and lowest common demonminator.

Then again is there a single film or television series that has been revisited or remade other than batman or bond  that has not been completed destroyed.

Alien franchise ruined by alien vs predator movie and its sequel as if part III and Iv were not bad enough.  Terminator III put the terminator franchise in the toilet.  Bay and Spielberg destroyed transformers, spielberg and lucas destroyed indiana jones.  and Lucas himself destroyed star wars.  Ronald Moore and Brannon Bragga destroyed star trek, and abrams is only burying it further.

Come on guys it is just another spin off DS game like Phantom Hourglass set in the Windwaker Zelda universe, not the next flagship Zelda title that is still in development.  Twilight Princess was originally designed for the gamecube and only very late did it become a wii title.  There is still no Zelda originally designed exlusively for the Wii.  I wonder if another Zelda game comes out for the wii before nintendos real next gen system is released.

Hunter6 your forgetting that the best Trek film of all was directed and Helmed by someone who was neither a fan nor well versed in trek lore, Nicholas Meyer.  Remember Bennet and Meyer were brought outside of trek after the motion picture to breathe new life into trek.

What meyer was good at was being well schooled in Drama.  Not just action for the sake of blowing stuff up, and ooh now they have a budget of 150 million for lots of incredibly fake cgi and explosions and they can do fast cuts and quick action and bring a sense of speed into trek right out of star wars.

JJ is good at gimmicky plot twists as seen in Alias and Lost either as a producer writer and director.

I like how Sulu has a lever for warp speed on the i-prise like han had for hyperdrive on the falcon,lol.

I would bet you that JJ really wanted to make a Star Wars movie.  and Because Lucas said there is only 1-6 he ended up making star trek.  I mean he has said virtually everywhere about how much a huge fan he is of star wars, and pine saying he wanted to do a more of a han solo type character with his kirk.

That with action and dialogue straight out of a micheal bay transformers movie, plus prequel star wars era ilm's effects, Ryan Church's dubious designs, and ben burtt sound effects.  And the Guy who did the incredibled score and not Jerry Goldsmith because he died, sadly.

Bruce Greenwood's Reference to this Trek Being like Casino Royale and Its actor chris pine being like Daniel Craig does not ease concerns, especially if your like me and Liked only Connery and Brosnan,lol.

I be willing to bet Craigs bond is a lot closer to Connerys than Pines Kirk is to william shatners. 

I mean it would be like doing a star wars prequel with Han Solo and picking some joke of an actor to play Harrison's role.

I mean they cannot even get his eye color right, his motivation as a character right or his backstory right.  And they have the frickin enterprise being built in Iowa for cripes sake, un f'ing believable.

And another aimless youth adult child character cardboard cutout james dean style rebel. Gee did  we not already get that in prequel anakin or mutt from indy IV.

and unlike the inteliigent Stack of books with legs kirk who was called that by his friend in the episode "where no man has gone before".  We get the loser frat boy druggie who stumbles into a bar and gets his ass kicked and says " why are you talkin to me man".

The maketing really baffles me.  I mean it would be like Lucas if Lucas made a trailer for star wars episode 1 back in the day saying "forget everything you know about Star Wars". 

Despite the fact that the prequels were also made for a different and younger audience than the original star wars trilogy they were also at the same time catering to the old trilogy fans nostalgia, the final films quality being mediocre films has no bearing on the fact that Lucas tried to capture the magic of the old series and failed, just like indy IV.

Here they are shitting all over peoples beloved franchise and saying if your a fan of the canon star trek then stay at home.  Want to try the new flavor of the week pony up the 10 bucks and kiss them goodbye,lol.

Why can't there be room for both.  The 40 years of fandom does not end because of this film.  the original 6 classic films don't simply cease to exist because of this.  I mean as a trek fan i am happy we are getting tons of new comics, video games, and blu ray releases and the new movie may be a reason Paramount has not yet pulled the plug. 

I know it sounds funny but i am looking forward to What Alan Dean Foster can do with the terrible dialogue in his novelization.

You get both versions of the original series three seasons on blu ray old effects and new cgi seemless branched, Wrath of Khan completely restored from its original negative.  Trek Vi released in its theatrical version for the first time as well as the first movie in its theatrical presentation.

I mean the only negative is that the newly restored old effects version of the tv show which was saved for the blu ray release as a bonus feature (paramount the king of the double dipping scheme), and no such release announced for the cleaned up 1-6 on dvd.

You have no HDTV or Blu RAy then you are sunk.  Blu ray movies and players are very affordable now but tv prices are still high.

I mean things could be worse they could have had the enterprise E going back in time to stop nero.  Kinda a reversed generations passing of the torch backwards,lol.  Picard saves the Young Kirk and the crew of the enterprise 1701.

Or how come those temporal police from Enterprise show did not stop Nero,lol.

Naboo and The Jedi Temple on Coruscant were not in the 1997 celebration scenes, as then neither existed they are prequel made up things like Jar Jar Binks saying "weesa free".

I guess we should be glad Lucas could have  had the characters saying "May the Midi-Chlorians be with you"

The thing is with Time Travel fiction continuity is almost non existent when you can and they do change things in the timeline that effect future outcomes of things.

Time travel while a cool concept has been made laughable by hollywood films and tv.

I personally love the Sarah Connor Chronicles for what it is and not for what it is not.  I'm a huge fan of Summer Glau, i am also a Fan of Kristin Loken and Glau is the better actress.  Painkiller Jane was an okay show just not terminator,lol.

If you think Summer Glau is awful you probably never saw Firefly, or serenity. 

But taken about actresses who are actractive and have pretty faces and cannot act for shit, ever seen Dark Angel by James Cameron.

Summer Glau has no depth to her acting but neither does Loken.

I like most Terminator fans consider T3 to not be canon, and pretend it does not exist.  And the new terminator films and tv show pretty much pretend it does not either.

I mean what Arnold just came back for the money and the story was crap, and it ruined the first 2 films especially T2.  T3 pretty much made the second awesome film by Cameron pointless.

Same with Empire Strikes Back.  Jango Fett hack as Boba WTF?, bad cgi redo of emperor with a feeling of Tiredness of the actor delivering the lines as if he just got out of bed, or could not give a fuck and phoned in.

Bad redub of JEJ.  The worst by far in the 2004 set are empire strikes back and return of the jedi.

Star Wars was already messed with in 1997, i think the 2004 Jabba cgi is better than the 1997 but still an uncessary redundant scene which ruins Jabbas reveal in ROTJ, that is if you forget the prequels ever existed.

the CGi space battle at the end using what would now be called prototype cgi visuals is laughable in comparison to the original model effects.  Ruined sound mix on the 2004 cut.  All three films in 2004 worst color timing ever in an official DVD release by so called audio and visual effects pioneers Lucasfilm.

Every once in a while i wish the film series ended as it had in 1983 with some dignity, and Legacy untarnished by those 3 videogames that came in the late 20th and early 21st century. 

But to be fair to gamers and video games at least you get to control them this was like watching George Lucas play a videogame for six hours,lol.

I downloaded Episode IV and Noticed that Episode V and VI were missing on your site GoodMusician. 

I would like to hear them and see what fixes you made to the botched special edition cd releases, you know music missing on empire strikes back, and return of the jedi.  Sound channels reversed or poor mixing. 

Return of the Jedi had a bad frequency response on the 2 CD edition i have read because of dnr.

To me Jedi was the biggest dissapointment out of all the 2 CD releases in 1997.   The sound quality for a score recorded in 1983 is just plain apalling, even 1977 star wars sounds better.  And Lapti Nek and Yub Nub were missing from the cds and replaced with jedi rocks and some new celebration music.

In my opinion i wish the scores for star wars and indiana jones were treated better with all the music presented and uncut.

Return of the Jedi's original session tapes were found and still have not been transfered and released to CD.

Well the royal queen of naboo's costumes were obviously based on Asian designs or have an Asian feel to them.

The headdress thing is like an exagerrated version of the big Leia hairbuns in star wars 77 and is supposed to show you where Leia got her style.  You see Leia is supposed to dress like her mother, and Luke like his father.  At the end of the day though i think the costumes were different than those in the oot because Lucas asked John Mollo to make costumes that did not draw attention to themselves.

Imperial Stormtoopers being Conscripts of Conquered worlds or out of the Imperial Space Academy is entirely EU derived.  The Imperial Space Academy part coming from the Radio Drama When Biggs mentioned he was going to Jump ship and join the rebellion before being drafted into the imperial starfleet.

This scene was filmed.  Another scene that was not which had a sketch done  for it is Luke and Vader inside the shuttle on their ride to the death star which would have been right before this scene.   It was on star wars official site like a lot of rare images only available to Hyperspace subscribers.

The sketch was done by an Art/Set designer on the film. To describe the interior lighting to be used inside the shuttle, and whether or not this set piece was even needed.

Many of the deleted scenes that were shot or not shot were dropped because they were not needed in the exposition of the main plot.  Like the sandstorm scene, luke building his new lightsaber on tatooine, Jejjerod being force choked by Vader.

The scene that always bothered me not being in the film when i was a kid was how did Luke Get that Green Lightsaber When the one he had in the first 2 was blue that he lost getting his hand chopped off in cloud city.

I always thought the line Vader says " I see You have constructed a new Lightsaber.  Your skills are complete indeed you are powerfull as the emporer has foreseen" Was a dead giveaway that the lightsaber scene was missing from the film.

See in the prequels All Jedi have Lightsabers and they really are not that special, but in the oot it was a Mark of being special if you could construct one and set the crystals properly.  It was the last step to completing your jedi training.  In the prequels they give them to younglings like they are trinkets in a cracker jack box. Which is silly because only someone special trained can wield one without  accidentally cutting off their arm or something themselves since they can cut through anything.  But in the prequels the younglings sabers have a stun setting,lol.  The things lucas made up in the prequels like Midi-Chlorians, roflmao.

I mean i know when i was a teenager we used to all talk like that, and sometimes i revert to talking that way myself but in the 23rd Century they have a 90's american type speech banter.

and they drive gasoline powered Fast cars and motorcycles,lol.  I thought this was science fiction.

Even Kirks communicator looks like a motorola fliphone cel.  The enterprise looks like an ipod store.

Well at least the product placement will not be as bad as Bayformers, hopefully.
