Why I hate "The Incredibles"
Time
I'm not really a fan of Pixar in general. The animation looks all modern and clean, but I find them only to be mildy entertaining. I thought The Incredibles was fun to watch at the theater one time, and then I forgot aabout it. It was like it was not memorable to me...speaking of memories. But I realize this is just my opinion. I really don't care for cgi at all. Only the bare minimum is my style.

Harrison Ford's Feelings about the Holiday Special
Time
I actually really liked the Ewok movies when I was a kid. Not anywhere near a scale that you could measure the OT. That was always a universe away. It seems retarded now, but I guess I have to admit that maybe, just MAYBE, if I had been a kid when the prequels came out I MIGHT have liked them. MIGHT. And it only may have been like, not love.

George Lucas you have been responsible for so much turmoil within my soul.

How Star Wars names are translated in non-english countries...
Time
My Italian friends know Vader as the Dark Father. That's how they say his name in English. I don't know how they say it in Italian tho. Only heard them ask about him in English. I showed two of my Italian friends Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back this past week. First off they wanted to see Spaceballs. That had their interest initially more than any Star Wars movie. Found that quite amusing.

I also wonder if this is a secret stunt to get more people aware of the Holiday special, and to keep from scaring off the fans they show a rather harmless clip so it peaks everyone's curiosity. Some sort of ruse to show that it is obvious that whatever George Lucas touches does NOT turn to gold as some people are so apt to believe.

That is precisely what I hope the clip achieves. If it were to spark a more widespread interest in the holiday special... well... you never know what would come of that! Maybe it would even cause Lucas to come clean about all of this! Maybe even... a DVD release?

Adam, I'm trying to understand what your opinion is of this 'holiday special' . I've thought for some time that you like it. Do you mean you think it is crap like many others of us do, or that you genuinely like it? The only thing I know for sure is that you want an official release on DVD. Seeing it one time was enough for me. I've seen the cartoon segments in it about 3 or 4 times though total.

TV series set between ROTS and ANH
Time
I was at the Sansweet panel at Wondercon. I did not stay for the q & a because I was too worked up over the crap I had just been subjected to about the fan club presidency. AND they showed a piece on how the SPFX were done for the prequels. Well, after seeing that you could tell why those movies were so straightforward and boring, as if we didn't already know. It was like a video essay on how to zap all energy of physical believability out of a film. I wanted to stay...I wanted to hear somebody ask the ? so much. I was afraid of doing it myself and being attacked by a bunch of new gen SW fans...them dragging me down the aisle and eating my brains out like zombies. I don't know, but I had to leave. It was so disappointing. The only thing I thought sounded cool was the new lego game for the OT.
What I did hear of the live action series didn't seem to have it set DURING the OT, but before it. I don't think Sansweet had exact timetables. Only the vague 'in between Eps III - IV'. So unless it was discussed in the q & a more, he didn't point to the series being actually DURING ep IV or anything like that.

I wonder how many silly kids are waiting for Episode IV to be released?

I have a friend whose older brother watched the originals a lot when she was a kid. Like most girls she didn't pay any attention, and says she didn't understand it. Now she has seen the PT and is a big fan of it, but doesn't bother to watch the originals because of memories that "they were hard to understand" (???????). It's extremely annoying to me, but I am trying to lead her to watch the OT. She doesn't have anything against it, just is lazy about it I guess. I know there are actually a lot of people out there like this. I've talked to them.

She thinks the OT is hard to understand and the prequels are easy to understand? Shouldn't it be the other way around?

The OT: boy meets droids, wizard, pirate and wookie. They save princess. Blow up space station. Go to ice world to hide. Boy meets muppet wizard. Pirate and Princess fall in love and get captured. Pirate gets frozen, boy fights evil masked man. Finds out evil masked man is his dad. The gang rescues the pirate. They have another space station to blow up. Meet up with a bunch of teddy bears. Boy faces evil masked man daddy. Tempted to become evil by old wrinled man. Evil masked man saves boy and becomes good again and then dies. Teddy bears help the good guys blow up shield, second space station blown up. They live happily ever after.

PT: Trade disputes, senate hearings, gambling on pod races. Slavery. Midichorians. Trade federation negotiations. Seperatists. Evil Sith Lord living a double life as a Senator and then the Chancelor of the Republic. Jedi Councel meetings. Hired assasins. Bounty hunter used to create clone army.

Yeah, I don't get it. I'm a girl...grew up watching them. I'll have to work on her a little harder. She wants to see them, but apparently needs a lot of explanation. My theory is that because she didn't pay attention to the OOT the first time around, then actually really WATCHED the PT, she is now confused. So much damage has been done...sometimes it's frustrating.

Unorthodox Star Wars Beliefs
Time
I like your ideas, Scruffy. I especially like the idea that Threepio had it in his programming to keep mum on his master. That is cool. And Amidala faking her death. More believable than dying because she's heartbroken or given up the will to live. That's stupid. She's supposed to still believe in Anakin, and she would so easily let go when her children need her? Bah.

Star Wars Holiday Special on Conan
Time
I loved Harrison Ford's segment on Conan the other night.
I'm glad at least I never saw the Holiday Special growing up. I might have been tricked into thinking it was good at an impressionable age. I saw it last year and felt it was one of the most atrocious things ever committed to film, tape, video -- whatever the exact format was. At least there were some funny late 70s commercials interspersed throughout the tape I saw it on. Man, that is some horrible $hit, the Holiday Special. I wish somebody could hypnotise me into forgetting every last moment of the live action stuff from it.
