What is the most distressing aspect of the PT?
Time
Yeah, those words ARE too harsh. And not based in something I would want to go down in reality. But seriously, people who hold views about changing Star Wars need to go watch Fantastic Four or something more in line with their low intelligence that they can just laugh along with the lame jokes studioland has marketed to them. It's like, what flavor kool-aid is Hollywood passing out this week? Lame-berry!

Revenge of the sith is the shite and the flies upon it

I think that ROTS is just as bad as the other two prequels. The only way it seems a little better maybe is it *almost* (and i say almost because it didn't do it) gets dark. it only approached dark...like ROTJ. I agree with some others that as lame as it was TPM was the best prequel actually. George Lucas save for the SEs hadn't yet made a fully horrible Star Wars film. This was his first chance to completely mess it up. There were problems with Jedi, but still. Yeah ROTS sucks hard.

Alec Baldwin's Phone Message to daughter
Time
The worst thing I think of all this is that this man's private life was made public. That is the grossest misstep of all. I wouldn't think it's good to speak to an 11 yr old that way, but that is nothing compared to how many people treat their children. That kid got a dose of reality. And it had to have been the mother's "people" who made this public. Who else would have had acess to the phone message. She's using her child to get what she wants. That makes her worse than Alec Baldwin.

ADM, I am currently watching your Superman 2 Hybrid cut. I love it! I think it really improves on the movie. It will most likely be my preferred version which I end up watching the most from now on. You did a really good job, and made great editing choices.

My friend gave it to me for my birthday...and I don't normally come onto this board because I wouldn't really be able to contribute anything except for giving my opinion on the finished works, but I like this so much I wanted to let you know. Next up I plan to watch the International Cut of Superman 1, and the Supes redeemed. I also like Elf, so my friend got me that one too. You pick some good movies to work on.

So again, thanks, and good luck with the rest of your projects!

Getting too old for this sort of thing?
Time
I just turned 30. I think I've known about Star Wars most of my life. Born into the time it was so popular. All the older kids around me were into it, and they indoctrinated me. Wasn't so hard to convince.
I remember when my dad took me to see Jedi in the theater in 83. That was awesome. And even though can't remember my earliest memories of the other two so notably, that Jedi screening has never left my brain. Star Wars is great and formed a large part of my growing up. It's good to see the younger generation responding to the trilogy as well now.

Global Warming

I cannot speak for other countries, but I can speak for my own, the USA. I DO NOT think we do enough to conserve the environment. The current president has continuously rolled back the EPA until it's a fucking joke. We make at least 20% of the world's waste, when we have 4% of the population. And I am not pulling that number out of my ass either. I learned it in school after studying the numbers in statistics class. So don't tell me the American governement is doing a good job on that front. We have had the good fortune over the past century to have some of the best scientists in the US (albeit some of that because of WW2) developing some of the best modern technologies, but America needs to wake up and realize that we are destroying far more than we conserve. It is a hard switchover indeed coming from a western country, when your lifestyle dictates for the last several decades are mostly wasteful, but strong changes must be begun.

I DO NOT agree with you Dug. And that is that.

Will you buy the OOT again ?
Time
Except they seem to not know how to do that anymore. I have no faith left in LFL, and believe a bunch of bozos work there. Or Lucas makes them make shit or something. The cover art for all the releases after 1992 have been botched and look awful. You have to rely upon fans to make good covers. And that's not even getting into the actual content, which is what is really the important thing. Oh well, so be it. They'll do what they want to do. They've proven that now beyond a shadow of a doubt. They don't listen to what the market asks for. That's poor business.

I love Sigur Ros, but have become very bored with them lately. I guess listening to them for 5 1/2 years straight could do that to a person.

I also like:
The Clash
Green Day (old)
The Beatles
The Rolling Stones
David Bowie
Queen
Weezer (old)
Smashing Pumpkins
Nick Drake
Simon & Garfunkel
Nirvana
Stereolab
Vince Guaraldi
lots of others but can't think right now

2 and already Hooked on Star Wars
Time
^^^I've gone back and forth in thought several times with this one. Ideally I would want any children of mine to like the OOT better than any other form of Star Wars. Plus I don't want to watch no stinkin' prequel or SE. But I would also want my kids to feel free, and not put any inhibition on them. SO, does one only let the child watch 3 certain movies? Or, give them a choice of all six? I will agree though, that much of the story is ruined if you don't watch it 4-6, then 1-3. If PT fans admit it or not, there is an essence to Star Wars that the OT should be viewed first. GL doesn't seem to be aware of this, but the conceit of viewing it that way is within the films themselves. The characters of the OT are in this new era of overcoming what has happened in the recent past. What they see and are encountering is finding out how to overcome that past. The audience rides with their thought of finding out about this past, and what they learn, WE learn. It's a very good way to tell the story. Mark Hamill said long ago during Star Wars (A New Hope) that Luke Skywalker is the "sounding board" character of the story, and he was right. Now, when you go back and watch the PT, you are privy to what ACTUALLY DID happen before most of the OT characters were born. I truly believe this is the correct way to view the saga. It makes sense.
So, I want my kids to be free to find things on their own, but I do think I would wait a while before allowing them to watch the PT. Just so it doesn't ruin the story. And hopefully they won't like the PT, but I will just have to grin and bear it. Also, maybe Star Wars really will lose steam over the next several years. But I don't really see that happening. Although most of the population HAS moved on, so maybe it really has had its "time". Kinda hard to tell. It's still definitely a part of the cultural reference book, and even internationally.
Maybe I'll change my mind yet again. LOL
