If you were a gangster bent on hiding from the authorities, wouldn't a smokestack belching noxious clouds be a little noticeable?

Heck, put a strung up droid like the one in the droid workshop on the path. Scare the crap out of 3PO.

I doubt he's hiding in plain sight like that.  Everyone knows he's there.  Unless we can somehow make it known to the audience that its supposed to be secret...

Maybe not. ;-)

That's plain sight? It's not like he's in Mos Eisley. His original palace is nondescript. That's what I like about it. Anything else just calls attention to itself.

I'm all for making the surroundings(esp on the left) more Tatooine-ish, and the area more secluded, but I like the palace.

For an intergalactic crime boss, Jabba's palace seems a little too understated.

But the palace is what tells us the most about Jabba. All we know about him is that he's a crime boss at least high enough up the totem pole to have a bounty on Solo's head, and Han doesn't necessarily seem like a big time operator. That's all we know prior to ROTJ's opening.

I don't see wher the argument that the palace is somehow innapropriate comes from, since 90% of what we learn about Jabba's character is from the palace he lives in.

Come on man. This is the perfect opportunity to add some more CG. Bay it up big time.

As far as adding in a smoke stack or two.........I could definitely see Jabba as the type of character to willfully crank out pollution into the Tattoine atmosphere.

Not only is he a vile gangster.....he's a jerk.

This would fit in with how the Hutts treated their own planet of Nal Hutta. Very polluted.

Absolutely! That is exactly what it sounds like Ady will do for AOTCR. And I absolutely agree with that particular sentiment.

And if we could get our hands on that Lost 20 cut scene, it would help set up some more mystery for Dooku and flesh out his motivation better.

You know, that kinda reminds me about another thing that the prequels ended up blowing -  the 'mysterious' and 'whimsical' first appearance of Yoda to moviegoers at that time....  This is lost for anyone new to the saga now, if they feel they have to watch them in numbered 'order', as Yoda's 'first' appearance is anything but now.  And that's even before we mention his actual new 'look' in TPM, as it currently stands!

That's one of the reasons why I kinda wish SW:R hadn't been numbered, and that the scroll had just started after the 'STAR WARS' logo.  Personally, I wish for reasons like that, that there were no 'numbers' on any of Adywan's edits, lol.

Well, we will see the CG prequel Yoda in future releases of TPM so at least they'll match the other PT films if not the look of OT Yoda.

Honestly, I couldve lived without seeing Yoda in the PT at all. Just have his name dropped a couple of times as this great Jedi whose the master of all who lives as a monk and not as a little green frog with a lightsaber.

I mean, the PT wasn't his story. He doesn't make a bit of difference in the end. Even his duel with Palpatine comes to nothing. I was hoping Yoda would be the one to cause Palps disfigurement or inability to mask it to the public anymore(depending on which Palpatine school you adhere to) but no Yoda retreats. He gives up because........? Well, because of NOTHING!

His character is a waste in the entire PT. And they really screwed up his dialogue. Oh boy did they screw that up. He doesn't talk inverted all the time. He does it often but not constantly.

His character and 3PO's were my biggest disappointments for OT characters.

I'm also for taking the extended podrace scenes on the TPM DVD and cutting some of them into the film cut and then shortening the podrace to two laps by taking some existing scenes out. For instance, there's a cool shot of Anakin on the deleted scene where one of his engines comes off and his pod starts spinning but he keeps his cool and hooks it back up. Shows he has the skills.

If I remember correctly, that bit where Anakin is spinning was a deleted scene as far as the Theatrical goes, but on the DVD George added it into the film.  Having said that, I hate that bit.  That magnetic tool is lame.

shanerjedi said:

Maybe replace those Tusken's with Aayla Secura?(if that could be done).

If there was another Jedi on Tatooine, wouldn't she be helping her fellow Jedi out?

Ah dammit. I hate these prequel names. I was thinking of that bounty hunter with the pale skin. The woman with the big guns.

Hey, you never know what's going to come up. AOTC should be made to be more like ESB, not the other way around. Episode 2 is a mess.

The anouncer really needs to go.  Or at least give them a re-dub and a better CG character.

I vote for getting rid of them altogether. Too 'Earthy,' like that stupid diner scene. Maybe just add a non-corny PA voice, or a cool alien-sounding one.

Might as well get Ric Olie for this job.

But yeah, axe the announcer unless a cooler alternative can be found.

And, what is this scene about Jocasta Nu and Obi-wan talking about Dooku I'm reading about up there? ^ Cause it looks REALLY interesting. Is there any footage of that scene floating around anywhere?

I really think so.  I don't know where it is though.

Btw, I'm pretty sure the 'Yoda lands on Dagobah' scene was included in the bonus disc of Episode III as a deleted scene, wasn't it?

I dought it.  We would have seen it somewhere.  I don't think GL put it there because the CG wasn't done.

Yes Jar Jar need to be very toned down.  What do you think of this voice re-dub?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiGyJB7-LpA

It's on the ROTS deleted scenes section.

It would be cool to see some trees fall and see leaves shaking when Yoda is lifting the ship with the force.  The same thing happend in AOTC when Dooku and Yoda were having their force battle.  Debris was falling from the ceiling.  It would be cool to see the branches shake and some trees fall.  It would really add to the scene.

And how would all this chaos match the lesson Yoda is trying to teach Luke about the abilities of the force? It would be one thing if it was Luke's attempt that caused the chaos. But Yoda's? No. He can focus his force energy onto that single object and levitate it without doing damage to the surroundings. That's kinda the point. And the music wouldn't match either. And now if you say "just replace it with AOTC music" well then..........no.

I was thinking to change the boring mood of this shot, and making it more stylised moody, as the heroes are closing to dark gangster paths.

Its a concept and i made two versions, One with sail barge and one with not.

i tried to open a bit the scale and create a visible path that leads to the palace.

Playing around with Mcquarie's moods..

-Angel

Wow. But I would save the sail barge for later. No need to reveal it now in the story. People would only be asking "what is that?" when they should be focused on the droids and the palace beyond.

But I like it. I've always wondered what the palace matte would look like surrounded by a sea of dunes. Just the palace. a path. sea of dunes.

Angel, that is a very nice mock-up.  I wasn't sure if I liked it at first, but the more I see it the more I like it; it might be something worth considering for Ady to incorporate.  However, the "inconsistency" of Yoda moving from the ground to the rock is a bit more of a bother to be honest... although I'm not sure what could be done to "fix" that.  I guess one could simply assume he moved between scenes.

Yeah, things can happen offscreen in cinema. i understand the visual inconsistency, but it's not a huge deal to me.

I do like the mock up a lot. It doesn't look as enclosed or "set-bound" as the original, much as I love that.

I go back to dagobah.

We see yoda sits on ground and then at the end of the x wing elevation is on a rock(higher level from luke)

Also considering adding something pre SE that the trees behind the elevation scene have some light that defines the space and creates a less set like feel but claustophobic the same way. Besides in the later shots(pic 2) there is enough light coming behind those trees.

(yes i know there is more light that it should)

-Angel

PS: Add Lensflares to yoda's flashlight...........

Yes Im kidding :P

LOL @ the last one. Looks like a mini saber he pulled out.

Will there be more shots of Dagobah in the edit?  I'd like to see Dagobah more opened up for some scenes.  It really feels to crowded and "on set."  In one of the first scenes it shows Dagobah nice and open with some atmoshere to it.

No dont get onside 005. Dont feed trolls (Bad bad times there)!

If you're actually referring to me, you need to think again. I'm not going anywhere. And seeing as you want to get constructive, why don't you show us what you've got.

While other forum members might avoid public fights, I know who doesn't have a problem with me being here. So get of your moral high horse, Darth Solo, because your sanctimony doesn't wash.

Now, as Shanerjedi already said, if you want to get things back to constructive ways, stop bringing it up and gloating. Can you do that? I know I can, so let's be constructive and creative, as we have been before.

So Venal, it was you who did the mockups then? I remember them. Was that to replace and existing shot or extend out a scene with a new one?

Educational yes, but i got concerned when little Darth wanted to bomb the kids in the playground after that though.

Who's going off topic? We all seem to be talking about the same thing.

I think he's talking about himself since he was the one who brought it up. ;)

ESB is such a great looking fantasy film.

 Great direction

Why didn't Irvin Kershner direct ROTJ?  One can only wonder what it would of been.

Indeed. Kirschner might have been busy, I forget now. I know Lucas asked him if he wanted to direct Attack of the Clones, but Kirsch declined because of his age. Some people say that's a myth that Lucas asked him, but I was told from a pretty close source that it's true. If only again!

Lucas has much respect for Kersh. He even consulted with Kersh, albeit mostly during its creation, on the changes to the ESB:SE.

All of the changes, except for the end shuttle landing scene, came right from Kerh's "If I could only go back and fix things" list for ESB. The Wampa. The digimattes to open up Cloud City. All of the enhancements. Those are all things he wanted to do originally but just couldn't do. And he hated the Wampa stuff.

Kersh didn't want to do another one. Plus, Lucas was a little miffed at Kersh's patience to make things look, oh you know, NICE. Later Kersh regretted not pushing harder to do RotJ. A bad Robocop sequel and the Seaquest TV Pilot can do that to a person.
