Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire soundtrack

I found the complete soundtrack available on Youtube and gave it a listen. Amazing score by Joel McNeely IMO, though I read McNeely himself wasn’t happy with the end product and that it’s one of his least favourite works. Myself I disagree, I think it’s a pretty strong score and it’s a real shame the music is now part of the Legends continuity, and I would love McNeely to do more SW music.

Any other fans here?

I own this score on CD ! I think it’s great and they should have had Mcneely score Rogue one . To me he sounds the most like John Williams since …John Williams !

The English language really makes no sense if you look at it closely , for instance the word " full " , it is spelled with two L’s . Now take the word " beautiful " , it is only spelled with one L, and yet it is FULL of beauty . It is not a " Millennial " thing . Oh, and I am 45 years old . GET OFF MY LAWN !!!

Info: Deleted Scenes from Films that ended up in Other Films or TV shows Archive List

Quick Update.

The last scene of King Conan with Narration from Conan the Destroyer was meant to be the first scene in John Milius Conan the Barbarian.

Presumeably this is due to the Narration of Arnold Schwarzenegger being replaced with Mako and deciding the oriental accent voice over narration did not match the image. Hence the Black Screen with Narration.

The shot times out exactly to the introduction and the introduction is a Dolly in the scene present in Conan the Barbarian of King Conan a Dolly out.

So a Bookend to the Film one in which he has his Sword another for which the sword was absent.

Destroyer = Introduction

Awesome , I can’t believe I never caught that ! thank you for sharing .

The Worst Star Wars Characters

I suspect his face was inspired by the Blobfish. Don’t google it unless you want it swimming in your dreams tonight. ;
great observation ! Unkar Plutt was indeed inspired by the blobfish .There was a small hard back book put out through readers digest called Rey’s survival guide in which she frequently refers to him as the blobfish .It is actually a pretty good read and gives a lot of insight into Rey’s daily life on Jakku .It contains backstory that I feel would have made the novelization of TFA a lot better , but I suspect Alan Dean Foster had a mandate to hold back so Disney could do a double dip into the fans pocket books . I enjoyed the survival guide more than the TFA novel and I loved Foster’s adaptation of the original Star Wars movie that he ghost wrote using the name George Lucas . That one had loads of characterization and world building.

Should Vader and The Emperor even know who Yoda is?

Ok, I’m rather confused.

“‘This Yoda,’ the Emperor mused. ‘Lives he still?’”

What is this from, and what is the context?

It is from the 1983 novelization of Return Of The Jedi by James Kahn . “lives he still ?” sounds like Yoda speech , but I think the Emperor was just mocking Luke. I also got the impression that Yoda and the Emperor had never met from reading the book .

What is your Star Wars?
Time

My Star Wars was riding my bike to the pharmacy every month to pick up each new issue of the Marvel Star Wars comic , sitting by the tv with my tape recorder to try and catch any star wars content like commercials , sneak previews etc . It was a long three year wait between movies back then . clipping newspapers and magazines and making scrap books . the Kenner action figures , the Topps trading cards. so glad to see a return to the aesthetic of the originals .

Rogue One * Spoilers * Thread
Time

Just watched my Rogue One Blu Ray again and thought I would chime in with some thoughts …I dig it . There are a lot of homages to other Star Wars stories or ideas that were cribbed from them I suspect . When K2-So slaps Cassian and says there is another one if he mouths off again , the exact scenario happens in the first ever E.U. novel Splinter Of The Mind’s Eye . In that book , Luke and Leia are disguised as miners on an Imperial mining planet and are questioned by an Imperial Officer , Luke Slaps Leia and tells her she gets no favors until he finishes his dinner. Of course, the Whills were mentioned in the forward to the Original Star Wars novel ,which is ghost written by Alan Dean Foster who also wrote splinter .The Kyber Crystals had origins in Splinter and the novel would have been the sequel to the original film if it had only been a modest success. Near the end of the movie , there is an Imperial Data Vault on Scarif , which reminds me a lot of the original Marvel Star Wars comic issue 63 where Luke has to infiltrate an Imperial Data Vault on Krakes Planet to recover a data chip and clear his name.I have not yet read any of the Rougue one books yet but wonder if they answer a few questions . I have my own theories though about some. For instance , at the beginning of the movie , why are there moisture vaporators on a seemingly rain swept planet ? on viewing this time around , I noticed the soil was black , so I am guessing that region of the planet suffered some kind of earlier devastation and there is some kind of regrowth and regeneration involved.There are red robed Figures with square hoods walking around in Jhedda , I am guessing they are tied into the Emperors Royal Guard somehow . Speaking of Jheda , the city interior shots reminded me a lot of the art of Dave Doorman who did a lot of comic covers for Dark Horse in the 90s. I am sure I will notice more things on repeat viewings .To me , that is the mark of a good Star Wars movie when it rewards you with new insights on repeat viewings and you see new things each time and it makes you curious about the worlds it is set in .that is all for now .I am sure some of this has been covered elsewhere , I just wanted to get some of my thoughts down while fresh from a viewing.
