Not everyone has the pal source to start with though.
Not everyone has the pal source to start with though.
I live in Florida and I'm Super Duper Serial.
Posted this to a.b.sw. CD's still available too ;)
I have tried this exact project before. I've never found an acceptable version of the crawl. After looking closely at various sources, I noticed that Moth3r's PAL version was cropped on the sides compared to all of the NTSC LD transfers I've seen. I had been waiting for the X0 to be released, but that's obviously not possible now.
I've got two copies. The West German RSO and the US Polydor Version. Thinking of selling the later if you're interested.
I had always heard that this mix was all that was available up until the DC set. How is the soundtrack for the 1992 LB Digital version different?
I know I'm going to sound greedy here, but is there any chance you could capture the uncompressed stereo audio as well?
It would be pretty easy to rebuild using pgc edit. You'd just need to rip all of the streams using DVD Decryptor, or something similar, and then remux using your new ac3 file. You could create a very simple DVD with just the film and (as long as you've recreated your chapters) you can replace the main movie (VOBs) in your original dvd with the one from your newly created version, using pgcedit. This way you don't have to do any work to recreate the menus or programming of your original DVD for the newer version.
If you share the ac3, I could redo this within a day and repost to a.b.starwars.
Ady, is there any chance you could make the actual LD ac3 audio available? Why did it need to be re-encoded in the first place? (I know you said something about 384kbps not being compatible with some players, but this seems unlikely to affect most people.)
I did a project very similar to this about 2 or 3 years ago, using the official DVD and the TB as my sources as well (with an isolated soundtrack as well). Even though I have the Ep. I LD, I never got around to getting a demodulator so that I could capture the 5.1 audio. I can't wait to see how this turns out.
There is a slight dropout during the very first note of this track. Compare with the standard CD.
Did anyone notice the sound drop out at the very beginning of "Sail Barge Assault" on the updated set for ROTJ. I think it could be fixed quite easily.
MeBe, given that the GOUT is a somewhat acceptable, official archive of the OT (no matter what the quality), the only part of the LDs that has never been released is the opening crawl from ANH. If the XØ has the crawl completed, we'd be able to create our own edit using the rest of the GOUT.
