I’m not hearing any sound there on my copy of the German Blu Ray. I have the collector’s edition version though, it’s possible they changed it for that release. Could you share arip with me via PM? I’d like to see if it’s different.

There’s no way to tell how the original footage was manipulated to compose the final frames of the film. I’m sure much of it was resized downward for compositing. At that point the difference between a full HD and a 1440x800 probably doesn’t matter.
Looks fantastic. I think it’s almost too clean. I’m not really sure how it could be improved. Every element is rock-solid stable, except maybe the Stardestroyer.
Maybe a bit of gate weave and film grain would help it match 4k77 a bit better.
The film was shipped to a gentleman in LA with connections to Poita. I have not heard from Poita himself for quite a while (I hope all is well). At this point, I wish I could offer more information, but that’s all I can say at the moment.
Update for 2020:
I have discovered that there was a small (1 frame) sync issue with a single repeated frame in the version of Phantom Menace that I posted. I’ve also made some improvements with the theatrical subtitle timings as well. Additionally, I found that there is a frame error in the DVD/HDTV master where there is a single missing frame, and one other duplicate frame.
I’ve fixed those issues and have updated the encode of TPM. Anyone with the Resilio key posted on thestarwarstrilogy forums will have their folder updated with the newer encode. It’s also available in the google drive folder that has been previously shared. Just redownload from the same links, if you’re interested.
I had also found some pretty major encoding errors with the lower bitrate version of Revenge of the Sith. I’ve done new encodes of both TPM and ROTS and have updated those for the lower bitrate versions. Again, they’re available in the same Resilio folder or google drive links that have been shared previously.
I should be able to update torrents on Myspleen later this evening.

Its like an interactive slide show basically, with a bunch of text and low res photos. Its not really all that interesting. There is no video content whatsoever. It’s got bios of the different people involved, concept drawings for SOTE, lists of star wars books, etc. It’s essentially what a website would have looked like in 1996. It is very of its time.
Ok, I was able to get it to work on a Windows 95 virtual machine. At first, I didn’t bother to install a sound driver, and the program wouldn’t run. It worked after installing a sound driver.
If anyone is interested in accessing the CD-ROM content of their disc, use the free version of isobuster to access the data track and extract the files.
It’s an executable file with a shockwave multimedia dxr file. There’s also an audio folder with some mid 90’s quality AIF files.
I spent some time trying to get the data from the CD-ROM portion of my copy. I was able to copy the files. It’s on a format that predates the enhanced CD format, so the files are not natively visible to a modern PC.
Unfortunately, the multimedia player .exe is in an ancient format and I cannot get it to open either on my Windows 10 PC or on my Windows XP virtual machine.
Hey, sorry, don’t mean to bother you but I noticed in your original post that you said you would eventually create BD menus for an iso. Did you ever get around to this as I can’t find it on the spleen. Thanks!

Nope, sorry. I was never able to get around to it. I don’t really use discs anymore, so I’m not really bothered about making it happen.
The individual who claimed to have recorded it, in HD, to his DVR, never made any effort to retrieve the .ts, or capture the video.
Yes, I’ll be getting to that in the new year. I’m going to do a new audio rip of the theatrical mix using an actual DTS-6AD cinema processor for decoding the audio. It will take some time before I can get it done.

Current discs are NOT this version, they’re repackagings of the 2011 discs. This version is NOT available on physical media yet.
And yeah, the OT is clearly new scans, I didn’t think that was even a question anymore (especially given the comparisons that have been posted that quite clearly show 2004/2011 changes re-done from scratch).
I’m still not convinced TPM is a new scan. I think it’s the same 2011 BR master, but given a new HDR color grade.
TPM might be from the same scan, but I don’t think it looked quite as heavily DNR’ed. That was the biggest problem with the Blu Ray to begin with. I haven’t had a chance to do a scientific analysis yet. 😉
If you’re looking for the surround mix, you’d need to buy the German SE Laserdisc Trilogy and a PAL Laserdisc player with digital output, then capture the spdif output.

It almost looks like an automatic HDR to SDR conversion for the 1080p streams. Or maybe I’m just too used to seeing the retina-burning colors of the old HD masters.
I still have my faintest of faint “recreated Original Versions as a bonus feature on the box set” hopes holding on.
Essentially - a Disney-created “despecialized edition.”
To me that’s about the only way the boxset would become a “must buy” for anyone. If there’s nothing exclusive, like the theatrical versions, then most people will be fine just having them to stream on D+.
This way, they can use 4K Star Wars to drive up D+ membership, and still have something left to help sell the boxset next year.
That’s the fifth version. It’s been changed in '97, '04, '11, and now in '19. Seems like a ~7 year itch for George.
This appears to be true. They’ve also included the Fox Fanfares, and updated the Lucasfilm logos to match the Sequels.

I’m pretty sure it will be the BR version, the listed times seems to be the BR times accelerated to 25 fps (PAL standard).
Otherwise it could be the early theatrical source (that ORF1 already broadcasted in 2014) as schorman is guessing; anyway, there is no other source such as a 35mm telecine (AFAIK).I’ll try to capture the .TS stream (unfortunately, my IPTV provider streams ORF1 at 720p, not 1080p).
The Blu-Ray version is about 130 minutes when played at 25fps and the theatrical is about 127. Excluding the credits, the Blu-Ray is 125 minutes and the Theatrical is about 122.
Playtime is listed as 125 minutes, so they are likely going to play the Blu-ray version and are just not including the Credits in the time calculation.

It looks like ORF1 will be showing TPM again this coming Monday. The listed times seem to indicate that it could be the theatrical version. Hopefully someone can record.
