Info: Does Anyone Have The Old Original Theater Bootleg '77 Tape? (Released)
Time
The Original EditDroid ANH did have a Mono Mix from a VHS recording although I am unsure if it is from either of the VHS tapes mentioned in this thread.

The only other Mono Mix I know of is from the ITV broadcast back in the 80's and was used for the Molly Prototype Mono Pre-ANH "XP77:4EB" Edit

:: Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope
:: The mono soundmix

:: Source Details

Source is VHS; movie taped from a UK ITV broadcast approximately 20 years ago.
Audio is on the linear track - no hifi on VHS back then!
Source is PAL @ 25fps, so if you NTSC guys want to use this in your DVD projects
I guess you will need to slow down by ~4%.
Several seconds of audio are missing from both the beginning and the end, and there
are also occasional gaps; whoever recorded this paused the tape for the ad breaks but was sometimes a bit slow at
restarting the tape. The tape is very worn at the start and the audio drops out
and goes wobbly several times during the title music. It will take a lot of
perseverance to get this audio in sync with a good copy of the video.

For those who may be interested, the EditDroid ANH with Mono soundtrack has just been posted on a.b.sw

The Official Dark/Sega Special Collection OT LD Release Thread (Not an SE Transfer) (Released)
Time
Here are some names that will get the set, even if they dont want it;

they are getting this set because they have helped me in the past

Thanks for that. We are all just one big happy family!!

Will this transfer be getting posted on a.b.sw in the near future? If so, I can get them from there quite easily.

If not, I would appreciate a mailed copy.

Once I get a new writer, get rid of my backlog and have the transfer in my possession I will come back here to offer a set to a UK'er to start spreading the word this side of the Atlantic.

Watch this space........................

.: Citizen's NTSC DVD / PAL DVD / XviD project :. (Released)
Time
Great stuff, I wonder how many downloaders will have a go at converting it to DVD... (and not get the aspect ratio spot-on )

Plan A was to hope that this would burn to a DVD disc as data and play in my DIVX player. The sample file will not play in it, as was stated earlier in the thread so I assume that the full film will not either.

A new writer will have to be bought to do the DL versions so meanwhile, the big question is, how does one go about converting this to SL DVD format and get the aspect ratio spot-on.

A "Guide for Extremely Stupid People" would be appreciated.............

Thanks in advance.

By the way, the sample looks great on my PC monitor so I am even more looking forward to seeing the full thing.

***The Official RowMan*** Release Thread
Time
Sorry. I've been away for a bit. If anyone still cares, I was able to dig up the main menus for my V1.1 bonus discs.

I care!!

Ta for the screenshots, they are as I remember from Rikter's long lost pages.

I have updated the page with all your details on. They look kinda neat side-by-side.

Thanks again and I look forward to any future releases of yours that come our way.

Info Wanted: OT DVD Preservation Release Questions
Time
The EditDroid ANH Version 1

First, to clarify that there are two versions of "our" pre-ANH disc. The
first has a recreated crawl and three sound mixes: mono (from a VHS boot),
matrixed Dolby stereo (from the late 90's widescreen laserdisc), and the
Definitive Edition mix, which we believe to be a mixdown of the 1977
six-track 70mm mix. At the time we were unaware of Burtt's 1995 home video
remix, so we thought the widescreen LD track was identical to the 1977
stereo and labeled it as such. This first disc was encoded straight from
the Beta tapes using the multipass feature of the Sonic and thus retained
the not-quite-black letterbox bars w/ burned-in subtitles and did not enjoy
frame-by-frame cleanup of film and video artifacts. Whenever we encountered
a dropout on the tape, we'd have to re-transfer the affected portion from
the LD to another tape, lay down new timecode to match the master with the
error on it, and reencode that section. Quite a laborious process.

That is from an e-mail posted on the Editdroid thread from the DVD creators.

If you have the 4 Rowman extra's disks there is not a lot of point in getting the Dr Gonzo discs too unless you are a completist.

The Cowclops version has been getting mixed reviews with some people hardly liking it at all.

As far as the Holiday Special, the best (in my opinion) is any derivative of this......

- Source - alleged 1st/2nd generation "broadcast" tape from KCCI Channel 8 Des Moines, Iowa

Apart from the Holiday Special, there is a bit of info and menu shots of all the other titles you mentioned on a site I have been working on.

I think that it covers all the known versions of the OT and SE as well as a few of the projects mentioned here on ot.com. Any I have missed out, please let me know.

.: The Lancer DVD Project :. (* unfinished project *)
Time
Now that is what I call a list, it has taken me 3 days to take it all in!!!

Not only does it correct the 2004 SSE back to the OT (mostly) it also corrects some of the glaring errors in the original OT which the later versions should have corrected.

I am lucky to have had a wee tiny supporting role in this and I have seen some of the changes and they are amazing.

Nobody but the most hardened professional will see the wipe from the 2004 SSE to Editdroid OT mentioned in No 30. Even after it was explained to me, it was still tough to see as it is that good.

This is an edit not to be missed................

Star Wars - The Edits and DVDr releases thread
Time
I am now well into a project that I started back on Jan 29th on this very thread to have a website logging all known versions of the OT and SE on DVDR.

This is not a "What's the best version" site but a simple guide for people to work out what version of the OT/SE they have and to let them know what other versions are available.

I have also added some of the best known Edits and Other DVD's available.

My intention now is to add more screenshots of existing versions, a bit of technical info and a guide to where a set is/was available from.

Can the good folks here have a look to see if there are any other sets out there that I have missed out so that they too can be added.

Go to Galactic Trade Federation to see what we have been up to.......

A big thanks to The Dark One (the site owner) for setting the thing up and everyone else who has helped me in putting this thing together.
