Methinks you do not need to worry about your ntl 30Gb a month...............

According to their website, anything up to 2Mb is now unlimited downloads and the 10Mb is limited to 75Gb downloads a month. With that, the free newsgroups and the 55Mb of free webspace, ntl are looking pretty good at the moment.

Info: The "OFFICIAL" audio mixes of the Original Trilogy - Help needed.
Time
Speaking on behalf of those who are trying to re-create a "perfect" mono mix, any new recordings would be appreciated to help in the repair process.

The quality of the current available audio is good but not brilliant.

I too would like a DVD with all the available mixes on. The upcoming Lancer project has most of them but until then I am happy with my Mother ANH with the 1995 THX VHS stereo with the mono track added on.

Meanwhile, check out the mono mix diferences here.

My first thought when I read the initial post by Allan over on alt.binaries.starwars was that the folk here at ot.com would be the the best people on the planet to get involved in the quest.

Hopefully we will get a result but if not, we have certainly tried.........

Help Wanted: 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit?' Laserdisc Footage - censored scene

The only releases I can confirm over here in PAL Land are the 1990 single VHS, 1996 It's Roger Rabbit [Exclusive Gift Pack] VHS and the 2003 single DVD.

It's Roger Rabbit was a triple bill of all the shorts. Check out the cover and screenshot.

THX Remaster=Tinkering?
Time
I posted a comparison of one shot here. This was mainly to highlight the difference between time compressed NTSC LD/PAL VHS to the full length NTSC LD/NTSC VHS to the 1980's ITV PAL broadcast.

For reasons unknown, even comparing the 1982 NTSC VHS and LD in Fullscreen (which you would expect to be the same), the films are different. Different sizing, different pans and different scans. There are many times when different charachters are on the screen at the same point in the film.

Undoubtedly, there were even more differences for the THX releases but differences were there way back in '82.

Anyone who got hold of the 1982 releases by The Starkiller from a.b.starwars can easily check these differences out.

There is of course the 1977 bootleg to compare with as well along with the US premier (if anyone ever gets around to capturing their VHS) and the 1982 PAL LD when that is captured and released.

The Original Star Wars Movies On VHS ??
Time
This page of most of my UK PAL VHS tapes may be of some use to you.

From what I have seen, the 1997 and 2000 Special Edition covers are fairly universal around the globe. The original releases, up to 1995 (as stated above) were fairly random for different markets.

I do not have a clue what covers you would have in Sweden although I have seen other European PAL covers that were the same as the UK versions but with French and German writing on them.

For comparison, the US NTSC releases are listed here.

Help Wanted: Star Wars films with audio description. Can anyone help out??
Time
Hello again.

A few thoughts I have are the audio commentaries on the Definitive Collection LaserDisc (available on the Dr Gonzo DVD release) and the 2004 DVD commentary.

This site has fan-made commentaries to play alongside the actual film soundtrack but I cannot vouch for how good they are. All 6 films are covered and they are timed to synchronise with PAL versions of the films.

Other options include the Radio Drama's which are very good and descriptive and the Story of albums too. These are only available for Eps 4, 5 and 6 and are "out there" in mp3 form to be downloaded.

Good luck in your quest and I look forward to hearing how you get on.

Finally, welcome to the forum. Hopefully you can stick around and enjoy the fun and games we all have here.........

By all technical accounts (I'm a HUGE Voyager fan), they didn't end up in the Delta Quadrant because of a wormhole. It was the caretaker's array that sucked Voyager to the otherside of the galaxy.

Nitpicker!! (but 100% correct)

I'm trying to get hold of a widescreen PAL laserdisc rip of the OT in english, from what I've read on here, the one to watch is Moth3r's version.
I've searched all the major torrent sites to no avail and was hoping that some kind soul might be nice enough to post it on a.b.sw.
I will post a request on a.b.sw when I get home.

Watched "Building Empire" and was stunned at the quality and fantastic content. If a fan can do this - why can't Lucas Film?

You will not go too far wrong if you download the Grinder's Star Wars Original Trilogy - Episode IV currently being posted..........

The Hyperspace travel in the Star Wars Universe must also be a pretty fast way to travel compared to the Star Trek Universe Warp Speed.............

In Star Wars, they travel from one side of the Galaxy to the other presumably in hours. When Voyager got stuck in the Delta Quadrant in Star Trek, they had a 76 year journey at Warp Factor 10 to get home to earth.

If you imagine Voyager with a Star Wars Hyperspace drive it would be a very short series..................

OPENING CREDITS

Harry Kim - We have left the worm hole and we are billions of miles from home in the Delta Quadrant.

Captain Janeway - Bugger, we will be late home for supper. Radio ahead and ask someone to put a tape in to record ER. Best put the kettle on again too.......

THE END

Back on topic, what always got me was the escape from Hoth in Empire. We see Luke arriving at Dagobah whilst Han is still shaking off TIE Fighters whilst leaving Hoth!!

I never could work that one out.

Help Wanted: Star Wars films with audio description. Can anyone help out??
Time

The following was posted on alt.binaries.starwars …

Can anyone help out with the request with either the actual copies of the films requested or with any “fan” project/edit of the full Saga.

Hi everyone

I’m a visually impaired star wars fan from denmark, who would love to
get the most out of the star wars saga.

I’ve reasontlly been aware that fox DVS home video, has made at least
three of the 6 star wars films avalable with audio description.
This means that also visually impaired star wars fans have the
oppotunity to enjoy these films to the full, as a narator explaines
the action on screen.

I’d desperatly want to get a hold of these films with the audio
described sound track attached, Unfortunatlly though, these films can
not be purchased from overseas but can only be purchase if you are a
US resident.
The movies can also be uptained from local US libraries - like this
one:
http://dpi.wi.gov/rll/wrlbph/audiodescvideos.html

as I’ve tryede everything now, I am posting this message, in the hope
that a kind soal in some way will be able to help me out.

There for, if someone inhere will be able to help me out with an
audio described coppy of the movies, I’d be most greatful.

Kind regards from allan
denmark

Any help appreciated…

As promised, here are a few crude shots that I will keep up for a short while as I only have limited space at the moment. I agree that the 7-zip format may well be the future but it still needs work to make it user friendly.

Not much gets past you, does it Russ...
Not much!! This one is thanks to a "heads up" from our old pal The Dark One on a.b.starwars

Looks interesting. Why don't you post a message to the group asking "Eraser" to come and post details here?
The Dark One is already asking for more info. I will be throwing in my two pence worth too.

(I don't have that group on ntl).

Neither do I which is why I have the Astraweb account. I also have it because even though ntl are actually very, very good but when they fall down, they do it in style!!!!!

Are you downloading it? Any chance of screenshots to show menus and overall video quality?

Watch this space.............
