Help: looking for... Prequel Preservations...

I found a VHS copy of Episode III online.

Could these be sourced and made into DVDs instead of some bootleg source?

also, in case Episode III isn't available and I am just dillusional... my friend has an old bootleg copy (don't worry he owns the official DVD) that was pretty ****ing clean and was released a month before the DVD. Could this be the theatrical one or is it more likely the DVD screener or some ish?

Thanks in advance

I think you may be delusional. I don't think Episode III was officially available on VHS. I remember this caused quite a stink: some completists complained since all the other SW movies had been released on VHS.

There is a theatrical bootleg version of Episode III on DVD. It was sourced from a real thetrical DVD, transferred to Divx, then transferred back to a single layer DVD. This version is missing the end credits. It looks quite good, but there are some artifacts in the blacks as a result of the conversion to Divx.

Episode III was released on VHS in the UK as well as elsewhere (Australia and New Zealand I think).

I have just checked Amazon UK and Ebay UK and they seem to be going for very silly money - up to £40!!!!!

The bargain of the year!!!!!!!!!

I will be checking these tapes out as soon as they arrive and doing loads of scans so if anyone has any specific requests for info on this set or any particular scans, fire away........

I stand corrected, I actually paid out a full £1 for this set so it was not the bargain I first thought I had................(only joking!!)

It was actually in March and not April so I was completely wrong with my earlier statements.

Star Wars Read-Alongs and other exciting audio stuff.........

Sort of a dorky request I know but these are the only two I'm aware of that I don't have. Thanks for any help!

The Star Wars Adventures In ABC's read along is now "out there" as an mp3 download from a torrent site but I obviously cannot say where here as that is against the ot.com rules!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have still never seen The Ewok Adventure or The Battle for Endor read alongs anywhere.

Are the PAL GOUT DVDs upscaled from the NTSC masters?

I ordered the PAL DVDs, because I assumed they would be sourced from the same masters used for the French/German laserdisc releases in 1995. The PAL laserdiscs are in some respects superior to their DC/Faces counterparts.

I haven't received my discs yet, but I'm getting worried that I'm going to be disappointed - from what I've seen so far, it looks as though the PAL discs have been created by upscaling the NTSC source.

Here's my reasoning:

- No one has mentioned seeing the famous "burn marks" in the first scene with the droids. These marks are a trademark of the PAL masters.

There are no burn marks. It was the first thing I checked out even before the original crawl.........

Info & Help Wanted: What the heck version is this? - not the one I wanted!

Info here.

This is one of the more hideous releases to come out and at the time, it was touted as "THE BEST" with a pricetag of $25 plus postage. The thought that anyone actually paid good money for this then or now is a bit scary!!!

As a matter of interest, what are the other two sets you purchased and have I got them listed??

The up to date link to my site is listed here.

Was there an ESB arcade game?
Time
The 1980's Star Wars arcade games are also included hidden away in the Gamecube game Rebel Strike.

My article of how to get these games at The Emulator Strikes Back site is down at the moment but I could soon upload the details here if there is any interest.

However, the best way to play these is with MAME which works on pretty much any PC with a Pentium or newer processer.

If anyone needs any info on how to play these, once again I can upload something here if there is any interest.
