The UsoVision Edition [was DC Lazor DOES HAVE ... Attempting a new rip]

As one of the few still interested in LD captures,

Credit to anyone still out there who is trying to preserve any of the Star Wars films (even the last 3!!) to the way they were as originally released using whatever source(s) available.

I would rather watch the Spider release (can anyone remember that one??) than just about any of the "Special no Ewoks/Jar Jar/bad Jake-Anakin lines/didn't like the plot Editions" that are out there. We need to see more work like this and get back to what the site is really all about.

Having said that, everyone is entitled to their opinions and I respect that.

I will be checking this one out shortly.........

Info: the Galactic Trade Federation website
Time

For anyone out there who still refers to my site Galactic Trade Federation I have dropped the domain name I bought and it is now back on my ntlworld free web space.

Apart from a few tweaks and making the site for preservation projects/releases only, I doubt that the site will ever change much in the future but it is still be a valuable tool and will be left online.

Please use the link above to get access if required.........

Info: My Review of the Four Disc Special Features Editdroid Set
Time

I don't know of anywhere else to get them but I can assure you that Newsgroups are actually very easy and very quick indeed.

I wrote the following a few years ago so some of the links are out of date but the principles are still the same (Astraweb now offer 110Gb for only $25). I now always use NZB-O-MATIC PLUS to download binaries which is explained on Part 2 of my tutorial.

No problem. I love it when a plan comes together..........

Here is a link to the Rowman collection and his "Extras"

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/russdawson/gtf/dvd/OT/row47.html

From what I remember, the "The Ultimate Supplemental Collection" by RowMan was designed to look like the Editdroid releases. This was in the days before we knew of the existance of the Editdroid Four Disc Special Features Set.

The Editdroid Title Screens

The Rowman V2.0 and 2.1 Star Wars Bonus DVD - Ultimate Supplemental Collection

Take a look here:

I can't remember if this is russs15's new site or old site...

'Twas the old site. New site is here...
http://www.galactictradefederation.co.uk/
...and shows screen caps of the bonus disc menus as well.

Crikey, I didn't know that people were still refering to my old site since the GOUT came out and the demand for LD/VHS transers (mostly) died off.

If anyone wants to take over the site content, let me know as I have run out of steam on the thing...........

Russs15 has supplied me with both the 'Flunk' and the 'Reivax' versions of ANH, and from initial impressions the flunk is far superior to all the other sources although it does suffer from a few section with corrupt frames, again the GKAR version has more frames than any of the other versions so it looks like ANH will mainly be taken from the Flunk with a few frames of GKAR thrown in here and there.

I am just pleased you got either of the Flunk DVD's to play. None of my computers or players would read the things fully - not even the player that wrote the discs!!!

Russ ! You're still here ? If you still have my e-mail address, could you please send me a mail or a PM ? I have "something" for you

Yes, I am still very much here - just about every day in fact. Nowadays, I am much less mouthy, self-opinionated and a tiny bit less "into the scene" as I was a year or three ago................

I suppose that is what hitting 40 does for you!!!!!!! I will be in touch.

Back on topic, most if not all LD transfers - our pre-GOUT last hope - are to be found here for anyone else trying to find out which LD transfer they have.

Info Wanted: Possible projects & extended versions
Time
The first is very short featurette dealing with the cuts the BBFC made to EP1-3 when released in the UK, having the UK version side to side with the US version. There were only 3 cuts so this would be very short (living in the UK I haven't actually seen these scenes uncut - why I'd love to see this little feature)

What are the 3 cuts?? I am only aware of the EP 2 headbut cut.

The other is more abitious. I've seen before a site which shows screenshots of the difference between the original, 96 relrease and DVD release of the original trilogy - and I'm wondering if anyone's thought about making an actual video doc showing these differences? I'd certainly find it fascinating to watch through and see all the changed Lucas has made.

Not quite in a documentary format but the Wookie Groomer Split Screen releases are what you are looking for. These show the theatrical originals and 2004 DVD releases on screen at the same time, perfectly synchronised.

For those also having problems - just to let you know I worked out how to fix
it - I used Windows Media Stream Editor to demux the audio and video and
remux them back into one file - plays flawlessly on the pc and the x360 -
can only imagine the header information got corrupted

It's a utility included with Windows Media Encoder:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...r/default.mspx

Details here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...oEncoding.aspx

under "Additional features with encoder utilities."

Any chance you could provide the full links or instructions on how I can fix my copy? I love these HD versions. You do GREAT work!!!!

I am struggling too.......

Whenever I try to open the file in Windows Media Stream Editor, all I get is incorrect codec on system errors.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

"The Clones Revealed" (Released)
Time
This stuff must be available for sale in shops in South Wales as Daveytod must have bought a tonne of the stuff to use on this film.............

I am not one of these OT vs PT people. For me, there was a film called Star Wars followed by 5 other films. Attack of the Clones was one of those films.

By itself, it was an OK kinda film with amazing effects but a bit lame in (many) places. As a sequel to the great Star Wars, it was a bit rubbish.

OCP and JD with their amazing releases had it easier than Daveytod. Better films, 25 years of documentaries, more reference books for films that are part of movie history. For Attack of the Clones, there was hardly any material at all.

For this reason, The Clones Revealed is an amazing release - talk about something out of nothing!!!

I knew about the differences between theatrical and DVD releases but just about everything else that Daveytod documents is all new to me.

Extra lines of dialogue and scenes that never made the film or DVD extras fit perfectly into this release.

Using comic book images to show these extra lines of dialogue is not new (I have seen that used before but not sure by who) but never to such a great effect.

Stills from the various publications out there all add to the story perfectly too.

My aim is to watch this again as I know I have missed things the first time around.

Well done 10/10

First I have to say great work.

I like that all the different mixes are included.

I always get confused by the difference between the original mixes. Can anyone tell me which mix I will have to listen to to hear.

    - The original Beru voice
    - The C3PO tractor beam line
    - "close the blast doors"

Check out some of the differences here.

I say Good Luck and go for it..........

Something like this is tough to get going and even tougher to keep on top of - especially on your own.

I have been working on my Galactic Trade Federation site for about two years now and it is still nothing like I want it to be. I have good spells working on the site but then Darth Real Life comes to town and messes up all my plans!!!!!
