Just to clarify, we don’t have any indication whatsoever right now as to when Filoni’s film will get made. 2026 was only listed in the context of the original plan circa late 2019.

Disney was going to alternate Avatar sequels and Star Wars movies on Christmas of odd and even numbered years respectively starting with Avatar 2 in 2021, but then the pandemic pushed everything back a year and Lucasfilm didn’t get anything ready for the big screen quickly enough.

2026 will be a crowded year for Disney as it is, with Avengers: Secret Wars in May and Avatar 4 at the end of the year. That doesn’t mean they can’t put out something some other time of the year, but I don’t know why they wouldn’t just wait lest they get a repeat of Solo.

Cameron already said that Avatar 4&5 might get delayed, and reports are saying that the MCU is about to enter a “slowdown” phase. I think we’re about to see a major reshuffling of the whole Disney schedule tbh.

I agree that the best way to go would be to make this one feel as standalone-ish as possible, in that you don’t really need to see what comes before or after to get what’s going on here. Then again, I feel that way about almost everything.

It’s nice to see Star Wars finally getting a “creation myth.”

Glad this is getting renewed! Hopefully they branch out a bit.

I like Ridley. Glad she’s back. I still think there’s interesting things they can do with the character of Rey.

As interesting as these new movies sound to me, I’m still not sure if I’m gonna go see them. When it comes to Star Wars, I like to try to be as neutral as possible, but I’ve realized recently that the only way to really be neutral on something is just to not watch it at all.

I’d say I’m equally intrigued by all three of these.

Sneider was on Rocha’s show again just now and clarified that Knight’s script will basically be a full-blown rewrite. He claims LFL wasn’t happy with Lindelof’s draft. He also reiterated that three new films will be announced at Celebration. He also said that LFL was told to only focus on star wars from now on.

What do I think of the PT, you ask?

There is Probably nothing in it, but if there are to be new films set just after the Sequel Trilogy it would make sense for some of the main ST characters to cameo, or play guest parts in them?

Hopefully so, though Jeff Sneider said he doesn’t expect her to be in the Lindelof film. Maybe Levy’s movie is also set after TRoS?

I didn’t mind it, but the racing episode was definitely better.

I’ve been really enjoying this show so far. I like it better when Star Wars is “loose and easy” and doesn’t take itself too seriously. This latest episode is like a homage to the podrace in tpm as well as the race in Droids, and I like that we focused on Tech, for a change. Will be interesting to see how the dynamic between the team and Sid continues to evolve. Sounds like they’re gonna eventually leave her and join “a bigger cause” or whatever.

The big challenge down the road is gonna be figuring out how to address why all these cartoon characters are missing from other stuff (mainly the OT). Rebels already had to pull a lot of things out of its arse to explain why those people are all absent later on. How much will this show be able to get away with, in that regard?

^there was a rumor floating around Reddit last week that the movie was pitched as “Your Name meets Star Wars,” so this tracks with that.

In addition to the above, I would also kill Poe early in TFA as originally planned, as I feel he got in the way of Finn’s character development. Rey was supposed to be the new face of the Jedi, and Finn was supposed to be the new face of the rebellion.

I would also leave all the “Finn as a Jedi” red herring stuff out of the TFA marketing and make it clear in all the trailers, posters, etc. that Rey is the new Jedi.

Furthermore, I would tweak the ending of TFA a bit to show Luke already dressed in rags and sulking when Rey finds him, so that it’s clear from the moment we see him that he’s a broken man and not really a Jedi anymore.
