Daisy says she’s reading the script for this next month.
Daisy says she’s reading the script for this next month.
I’m starting to get more excited for this show again, thankfully. Everything the cast and crew has been talking about sounds promising.
Looks good! Looking forward to it.
Upon further reflection, I think they shoulda given away more about the plot in this first trailer. “Mystery marketing” for Star Wars no longer works with general audiences, it seems.
Didn’t like the trailer at first, but it’s growing on me now.
“The Call”
“The Search”
“The Apprentice”
“The Fortress”
“The Escape”
“The Future”
^i prefer when titles are “simple,” so this woulda been what I went with, if it were up to me.
It’s all about the dyad…
Seriously though, that link with Ben is enough.
Early rumors suggested that this film would be about Rey training two new pupils, a boy and a girl, and that the movie was pitched as “Your Name in space.” Those things lead me to believe that the film itself will be about Rey finding two new “heirs” of the dyad, so to speak. The fact that it was originally supposed to be set much later in the timeline kinda adds to this theory, imo.
Daisy Ridley excited for “fun direction” of new STAR WARS film (YouTube)
I’m glad she is excited to return . Also glad to hear her praise of Sharmeen Obaid’s documentary experience . Wasn’t there something about George Lucas making the original Star Wars in a documentary style ? Seems like this may be in good hands , between the lead , the director and the writer , I am optimistic . Idk , we will see . anyway , looking forward to seeing Star Wars in theaters again soon .
I’m optimistic too, but if I recall correctly, the whole thing about treating sw77 like a documentary had more to do with the first (notorious) cut of the film, and that the documentary “feel” was diminished for the Final Cut once they realized that it wasn’t working. That said, Sharmeen might still make a great film, and her documentary background could still very well be a good thing for this. Only time will tell.
Admittedly, though, the lack of enthusiasm from most others makes it difficult for me to maintain my own excitement, especially since now people are hating on this director for an out-of-context quote from 9 years ago. I might not even end up seeing the movie, cause I feel like I lose either way. Either I’ll hate it, or everyone will yell at me for liking it.
Wow that’s pretty strange. I mean the others at least have a basic premise.
Not really. Taika’s movie premise is also still a mystery, and we never found out what Rian’s trilogy was about.
Wait a second… what is Levy’s SW movie? I feel like I’ve lost the thread of who’s in and who’s quit now.
We don’t know the specifics of Shawn Levy’s sw movie just yet. It doesn’t have a tentative release date yet or anything like that. Sneider said yesterday that Rey could also be in Levy’s movie. That’s all we know right now.
Jeff Sneider dropped a new report where he says the following:
-Daisy is getting paid $12 million for her new movie.
-Chinoy and Knight are both still on board and everything is fine.
-Levy’s movie also features Rey but it’s not on the schedule yet.
-Right now he’s thinking the schedule is Mando&Grogu in May 2026, Chinoy’s movie in December 2026, Mangold’s movie in December 2027, and finally, Filoni’s movie some time in 2028.
-They’re trying to get other TFA actors back for Chinoy and/or Levy (and they may possibly get paid roughly the same as Daisy).
Something to note is that the announcement refers to this movie as simply The Mandalorian & Grogu, rather than Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu or The Mandalorian & Grogu: A Star Wars Story.
Maybe this means they’re finally dropping “Star Wars” from the movie names and allowing each era to evolve as its own separate “sub-franchise,” a la marvel.
What happened to Dave Filoni’s Heir to the Empire movie, this isn’t it. To be honest i think this is an awful idea for a feature and i’m a fan of Favreau.
The announcement confirms that the HttE is also still happening.
So first MSW said that Mando s4 was being turned into a movie and Sneider said he was wrong. Now it’s the other way around. Sometimes I wish I wasn’t a Star Wars fan…
Jeff Sneider apparently reiterated today what MSW said a few months ago: that Mando season 4 might get turned into a movie that proceeds the “bigger” Thrawn movie, and that both movies might now release before the Rey one.
The opening with Anakin finding the Kaiburr crystal on the volcanic planet kinda reminds me of how TRoS opens with Kylo finding the wayfinder on mustafar, funny enough.
Apparently Dave Filoni is now Chief Creative Officer of Lucasfilm, but Ahsoka season 2 still hasn’t been greenlit yet…
I imagine we will get an update on the Rey movie soon, now that the strike is over.
For whoever may be curious, I have a new ranking of all the canon films and shows of the franchise on my blog, strictly based on first impressions from when I first saw each entry:
http://henrynsilva.blogspot.com/2023/10/ranking-star-wars-based-on-first.html?m=1
Loved it
1.The Clone Wars
2.Solo
Saw it as a little kid, so…
3.Star Wars
4.The Empire Strikes Back
5.The Phantom Menace
6.Attack of the Clones
7.Revenge of the Sith
8.Return of the Jedi
I liked it but didn’t love it
9.Rebels
10.Ahsoka
11.The Force Awakens
12.The Rise of Skywalker
13.The Last Jedi
14.The Mandalorian
15.Rogue One
16.Obi-Wan Kenobi
Wasn’t sure how to feel about it
17.Andor
Found it to be a bit boring at first
18.The Bad Batch
19.Resistance
Didn’t like it
20.The Book of Boba Fett
The blog post goes in-depth into each of my choices.
The titling would be okay if the shows were actually about the people in the titles. Obi Wan Kenobi is about Princess Leia and Riva, Book of Boba Fett is about Fennec Shand and The Mandalorian, The Mandalorian is now about Mandalorians plural who are not The Mandalorian, and Ahsoka is about the whole cast of Rebels minus Zeb. Andor is mostly about Andor but it’s also about several other people who barely interact with Andor.
I hate to admit it, but you’re right. None of the new projects have had any real focus.
I agree that all of the streaming titles have been very uninspired. It’s pretty discouraging. Hopefully the new movies don’t end up having the same issue.
Not exactly a ranking, but I came up with a new preferred “viewing order” of the canon franchise:

I enjoyed the Ahsoka finale, for the most part. I think this might actually be my new favorite Star Wars live-action show (despite its flaws).
Show just continues to be boring. Stupid republic plot is resolved. Seems it was just a filoni excuse to include his oc.
All the action has no stakes. Silly Ezra and the dolly pollies. Thrawn just standing around stroking his moustache.
He has no screen presence whatsoever, none of the characters do, except Balan.
Live-action Thrawn could be better, I’ll give you that. The voice is solid (obviously), but something about him just feels “off.” That’s definitely a character that shoulda been recast for the transition from live-action to animation.
Ahsoka ep7 was good, imo. Put the show back on track for me.
