That new clip of kylo meeting the emperor is delicious!
That new clip of kylo meeting the emperor is delicious!
So does or does it not end on a binary sunset?
If the leaks are to be believed; yes, it ends on a binary sunset… actually, I just thought of something! What if we actually see both suns fully set and disappear behind the horizon this time?
Recently saw episode 5…
I think this was the first episode that I didn’t really enjoy all that much. As nice as it was to see tattooine again (along with all of the planet references and the “no good to us dead” line), I feel like this episode didn’t really “build” towards anything like the first four did, aside from that little tease at the end (hopefully that’s boba). Also the acting from the woman was a little weird, and the gunslinger kid was annoying.

&nsp;Has a image of Leia holding a lightsabre, perhaps ready to give to Rey?
I actually think it’s when Rey gives it to her after feeling “unworthy,” which supposedly was done using the unused shot from the second TFA trailer of Maz handing the saber to Leia.
Just saw episode 4.
Loved this episode! Bryce Dallas Howard did a great job directing. This show really is the best thing since ESB, and is truly the future of starwars. Finally, the franchise seems to be moving in a new direction that feels more “natural.”
As others have said, the way they positioned the ATST in such a big and frightening way felt so ingenious, as did the water hole trap.
Also, minor side note; were the two villagers who first approached Mando meant to be a homage to the Kurosawa “Hidden Fortress” characters that inspired R2 and 3PO? That was my first thought, at least.
Overall, the show is getting better and better with each new episode! Here’s hoping it continues to be that way.
My guess is, aside from the haters online
The Mandalorian & Jedi: Fallen Order show us there are no “haters”, only Star Wars Fans
https://youtu.be/OJ_tFpJy1UkNope, wrong, uh-uh. There are only two camps — haters and True Fans™; there is no overlap, no third or fourth camps. True Fans™ love everything with the Star Wars brand name; True Fans™ love only George Lucas’ six-episode Saga, TCW, and Legends; True Fans™ love only George Lucas’ six-episode Saga and Legends; True Fans™ love only George Lucas’ six-episode Saga; True Fans™ love only the Original Trilogy and everything produced by Disney; True Fans™ love only the Original Original Trilogy; True Fans™ love only ANH & TESB; True Fans™ love only SW '77. Everyone who doesn’t love what True Fans™ love aren’t True Fans™; they’re just haters, and should be regarded with as much disdain and condescension as one can mustre.
Very well put! I wish more of the fandom was as wise as this, and understood their own hypocrisy when saying things like “true fans don’t like (insert anything outside of SW77 and ESB here).”
I like the OP’s order, if I had to watch them all, though for myself I think I would simply get rid of Rogue One, Phantom Menace, and Attack of the Clones.
I like Phantom Menace, but only when I view it as it’s own movie instead of as a Star Wars movie, and the first act of Rogue One is an absolute chore for me to sit through.
Another minor update for me:
GREAT: Star Wars (1977), The Empire Strikes Back
GOOD: The Force Awakens, Solo
FINE: Return of the Jedi, The Phantom Menace, Revenge of the Sith
BAD: Attack of the Clones (too messy), Rogue One (too hollow), The Last Jedi (too slow)
My rankings may change again after I have time to see and digest The Rise of Skywalker.
I just wanted to jump in real quick to say that the posters on this site seem way more intelligent and forward-thinking than most of the posters on other Star Wars communities across the Internet. Some of the observations above in regards to how the PT consensus has changed over time, as well as how the ST consensus is likely to change in the future, has really helped me to resolve a lot of my own thoughts about both trilogies. So I just wanted to say thanks, and keep up the good conversation!
FWIW; TFA is my favorite post-OT film, but that has more to do with personal reasons on my part, because as a kid I always dreamed of seeing a “soft reboot” type of film (before that was even really a thing, mind you) with the classic trio actors returning as older versions of their respective characters. So, despite TFA’s flaws, I was just happy to finally have something close to the movie I had dreamed about ever since I was a kid. With that being said, however, when taking my own personal bias out of the equation as much as possible, I can see why that doesn’t work for everyone, and why it would be unfair to consider TFA as having more “objective value,” so to speak, than any of the other post-OT films.
More on topic; I am still looking forward to TRoS, and I have a feeling it might replace TFA as my new post-OT favorite.
Slight revision to mine:
GREAT: Star Wars (1977), The Empire Strikes Back
GOOD: Return of the Jedi
OKAY: The Phantom Menace, Revenge of the Sith, The Force Awakens, Solo
BAD: Attack of the Clones (too weird), Rogue One (too boring), The Last Jedi (too long)
Just found out about this project. Sounds very interesting! Is there a tentative timeframe for when it’ll be done?
The ones you mentioned are good, but they also break away from the overall saga continuity a little bit, so they’re not really my favorites.
I’d say my favorite version of TFA is Hal9000’s The Force Awakens Restructured, and my favorite version of TLJ is ClarkZuckerberg’s The Fallen Knight, with ForceGhostRecon’s Last of the Jedi (Color Regrade Version) as a close second.
@SWOTFAN25 I actually gave it a little more thought last night, and I think I figured out a way to do it… but there are two exceptions:
It would basically just be most of RotS combined with most of the last act of RotJ, with just little flashbacks and flashforwards of everything else (including TRoS).
It would just really be about the fall and redemption of Anakin, more so than a story about all three generations of the Skywalker family.
I can reply again with additional details of how exactly I would go about doing this… but I’ll wait for your reply first, cause I wanna make sure this is an angle you’re actually interested in, before I commit to elaborating on it.
So I tried mapping this all out in my head a little more… and now I honestly don’t think this is something that can be done. I think this can be considered legit impossible.
The closest thing I can see to this is maybe just a trailer highlighting the whole saga, similar to that “star wars always” trailer that topher grace did a few months back.
Yes Peter Pan I am very much on board with you here. I had the exact same thought about A New Hope, replacing the design of the Death Star with the Death Star II, leaving its destruction for the end rather than having 2.
An idea I’ve been playing around with would be what if Luke’s force vision on dagobah was his actual duel with vader on Bespin, he ends up listening to Yoda and Ben deciding to stay and complete his training. This means he ends up staying on Dagobah while Lando/Leia/Chewie escape. But ultimatly this messes with the story so I’m still not sure. If the whole point is to tell the entire story through once cohesive narrative, what is the point if I mess with the story itself?
Having someone like Luke, Yoda, Obi-Wan, or hell even Threepio and Artoo narrate throughout the story is a very compelling idea. George I think even had the idea that the entire story is being told to us through Artoo’s perspective.
I might release a V1 of the edit with Episodes 1-8 before Rise of Skywalker comes out.
I’ve already got some ideas about the Sequel trilogy in mind, and also for transitioning between sagas.I feel like one thing that would be really cool would be the binary sunset from ROTS fading into the binary sunset in ANH, and then having Luke alone at the Funeral Pyre fade into Luke alone on Ach-To Island. I really like the idea of Luke being the one bridging the 3 sagas together, and having the edit end with him in TLJ would be great.
Your idea of RotS sunset -> ANH sunset and then funeral pyre -> TFA Luke on the cliff sounds like the right way to go! Make the whole thing about the life of Luke. Maybe start it off with Padmé giving birth to him (like how Man of Steel starts with the birth of Kal-El) and end it with his death in TLJ for your v1 edit (followed by TRoS additions for your v2 edit).
Idk, just an idea.
This sounds cool! But I honestly think the only way it would work would be to condense RotS, RotJ, and TRoS into one hour each, and sprinkle in a few shots of everything else as just little flashbacks and stuff.
Sounds cool. PM please?
Since I can never make up my mind about this, I came up with a new system:
Tier 1 - Star Wars (1977), The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi
Tier 2 - Revenge of the Sith, The Force Awakens, Solo
Tier 3 - The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Rogue One, The Last Jedi
NOTE: Each tier lists their respective films in chronologic order on purpose.
Disclaimer: I enjoy each Star Wars film for what it is.
That new concept art book cover pretty much confirms the trippy lightsaber fight we’ve been hearing about where Rey and Kylo keep “force flashing” across different settings, some of which being in zero gravity and/or underwater.
Rogue One has grown on me a little bit recently… Gonna try this again:
1.Star Wars (1977)
2.The Empire Strikes Back
3.Return of the Jedi
4.The Force Awakens
5.Solo
6.The Fallen Knight (Last Jedi fan edit)
7.Revenge of the Sith
8.Rogue One
9.The Phantom Menace
10.Attack of the Clones
11.The Last Jedi (actual movie)
Ranking these movies is always tough for me. I like them all for different reasons.
I enjoyed this edit quite a bit. Would definitely recommend it. Nice work!
Anyone read the latest report on the notorious MakingStarWars site about how Palpatine, Snoke, Matt Smith, and the McGuffin are all connected? And how Kylo ends up factoring into it all? Interesting stuff!
Title is starting to grow on me a lot, now that I’ve had a few days to get used to it!
Does anyone know why they are refining the Bad Batch arc for this new season, but not the Crystal Crisis arc? Seems weird that they would finish up one but leave the other unfinished.
Also, it’s interesting that these 12 new episodes are being labeled as Season 6, instead of Season 7. I’m assuming that means they’ll be bundled alongside The Lost Missions… Still a little weird, though.
Lastly, does anyone know what arcs are still missing besides these 12 episodes, The Lost Missions, Crystal Crisis, Son of Dathomir, and Dark Disciple?
This looks amazing! Loved seeing the dusty Jawas! Really drives home the fact that pretty much every aspect of this show is “original trilogy but gritty.” Can’t wait!
Also, Pascal seems to be doing great in the lead role, based on the one scene we’ve seen so far. He delivered the line “I like those odds” perfectly.
