Sounds exciting. Looking forward to it!
Sounds exciting. Looking forward to it!
$919 million now. So I’m guessing the movie will close in on a billion within the next few days.
$851 million WW now, so closing in on a billion.
I think I’m starting to like TRoS better than TFA again… TFA is better-made, but TRoS has more moments that I like. It’s hard to rank them! Guess I need to see TRoS a few more times to really be sure.
Updated ranking for me (decided I like TFA just a tad better than TRoS now):
GREAT
1.SW77 (10/10)
2.TESB (10/10)
GOOD
3.RotJ (9/10)
4.Solo (9/10)
FINE
5.TFA (8/10)
6.TRoS (8/10)
7.RotS (7/10)
8.TPM (6/10)
9.R1 (6/10)
10.TLJ (6/10)
BAD
11.AotC (5/10)
$725 million WW now, apparently. Sounds pretty good to me! As long as it gets to a billion I think I’d consider it a success, from a personal standpoint.
1.Original Trilogy
-Star Wars 1977
-The Empire Strikes Back
-Return of the Jedi
2.Sequel Trilogy
-The Force Awakens
-The Last Jedi
-The Rise of Skywalker
3.”Flashback” Trilogy
-Revenge of the Sith
-Solo
-Rogue One
Bookending with Star Wars 1977 and Rogue One is essential, imo.
EDIT: is there a reason why this thread was moved to the EU section? I feel like it’d fit better in the Beyond The OT section, but that’s just me.
Dec 20 - Friday - $89,615,288
Dec 21 - Saturday - $47,467,565
Dec 22 - Sunday - $40,301,011
Dec 23 - Monday - $29,389,847= $206,773,711 domestic total
$226,766,916 international total
= $433,540,627 worldwide total
According to Wikipedia it’s actually at $516 million worldwide now. I guess they’re already factoring in estimates for Christmas Day.
Worldwide, right? It’s been out since Thursday then.
Yeah, worldwide.
According to Forbes, the movie will pass $500 million in totals by end of day today. Not bad, considering it’s only been out for five days (six days if you count Thursday night preview screenings).
Thanks to everyone congratulating me for winning the OW prediction!
While on one hand it feels cool that I got it right, on the other hand, I’m sad that the OW ended up being so low. I actually wanted this movie to do just as well as the other two. I really did! Especially after seeing it, cause I ended up liking it quite a bit! But, deep down, no matter how good or bad the movie could be, I just KNEW it wasn’t gonna do as well as the other two. The momentum just wasn’t there. 😕
Oh well. At least I still got something out of it, I guess! 😄
Finally saw Chapter 7! Loved it! Best one since chapter 3!
Variety is now saying the domestic weekend total is $176 million:
My prediction was $175 million, so I guess I was closest.
Do I win anything?
People are mentioning on other forums and reddit that this movie got a B+ CinemaScore, which is apparently very bad for a blockbuster franchise film. Because of this, a lot of people are now predicting that this film will have weak legs. What do you guys think?
Back from the theater. The “Star Wars fan” part of my brain loved it! However, the “movie analysis” part of my brain didn’t like it at all. With that being said, I didn’t need this to be a good “movie.” I just needed it to be a good Star Wars. So (overall) I’m happy, and I’m (mostly) at peace with the saga.
I don’t quite know how to explain this but, even though I know this movie is objectively bad, something about it just “felt” right to me. It really left me on Cloud 9!
ill give more thoughts and a ranking in the spoiler thread, once I’ve had time to process it more.
Also, just wanted to add that I’m happy the audience score on RT is high! A nice reversal from TLJ!
I just saw the new one, so I’m still on Cloud 9. Seeing it again on Saturday. Will have a better idea of where I rank it alongside the others then, but for now, I’d say:
GREAT
1.A New Hope 10/10
2.The Empire Strikes Back 10/10
GOOD
3.Return of the Jedi 9/10
FINE
4.The Rise of Skywalker 8/10
5.Solo 8/10
6.The Force Awakens 8/10
7.Revenge of the Sith 7/10
8.The Phantom Menace 7/10
9.Rogue One 7/10
10.The Last Jedi 7/10
BAD
11.Attack of the Clones 5/10
On paper, TRoS is dumb, but in execution, you can “feel” the heart that it has.
You can go ahead and add Rise of Skywalker to the personal canon for me! 😃
Finally got around to watching episode 6! Loved it!
Just a few more days to get your predictions in! Join the fun!
I’ll go with $175mil opening weekend, $500mil domestic, and $975mil worldwide.
Haven’t seen the new episode yet, but I saw the clip of Dave Filoni as an X-Wing pilot. I met him once. Nice guy!
4, 5, 6, 7, 3, 1, 8, 2.
But the only one I really don’t like is 2.
That new clip of kylo meeting the emperor is delicious!
So does or does it not end on a binary sunset?
If the leaks are to be believed; yes, it ends on a binary sunset… actually, I just thought of something! What if we actually see both suns fully set and disappear behind the horizon this time?
Recently saw episode 5…
I think this was the first episode that I didn’t really enjoy all that much. As nice as it was to see tattooine again (along with all of the planet references and the “no good to us dead” line), I feel like this episode didn’t really “build” towards anything like the first four did, aside from that little tease at the end (hopefully that’s boba). Also the acting from the woman was a little weird, and the gunslinger kid was annoying.

&nsp;Has a image of Leia holding a lightsabre, perhaps ready to give to Rey?
I actually think it’s when Rey gives it to her after feeling “unworthy,” which supposedly was done using the unused shot from the second TFA trailer of Maz handing the saber to Leia.
