It was Last of the Jedi, by ForceGhostRecon. He’s banned from here now though, unfortunately.
So in this hypothetical version, Palpatine is dying, all this time he has been grooming Kylo and Rey, a prophesiced Dyad, to inherit the throne after his death. Palps gives the rundown to Kylo but he knows that there has to be a catch, he plays along but plans to kill him together with Rey. I think the dynamic between Kylo and Palps has to change, Palps will play the act of a weak, harmless old man, like the good old days with Anakin. Make Kylo less hostile, rather more intrigued. I’m working on a mockup that will go something like this:
- At last! My boy.
- Snoke trained you well.
- I killed Snoke.
- I made Snoke. I have been the voice inside your head.
- The first Order was just the beginning, I will give you so much more.
- I have died before, now I don’t have long, I’m weak - more than a clone, less than a man.
- What could you give me ?
- Everything - a new Empire, the might of the final order will soon be ready, It will be yours if you do what I ask.
- Become what your grand father Vader could not! Find the girl, Turn her and bring her before me. Together you will rule the galaxy as emperor and empress. Two that become one. A dyad of the dark-side of the force.
- Who is she ?
- Our blood. (just my crazy headcanon)

-Cut Kylo’s aggression, he’s almost submissive, which in the context of this story makes his plan to kill Palps all the more pronounced.

Instead of going through the trouble of trying to edit Leia’s Saber out the epilogue, just add the flashback of her and Luke training together during the bit when Luke is opening himself back up to the force (on the cliff at night)… Or maybe just after he sees the hologram of her that R2 plays. Make it look as if it’s Luke himself experiencing that flashback.
EDIT: forgot to mention earlier that, in order for this to work, the narration Luke does during that training sequence would obviously have to be removed. It would have to be just a silent sequence, with music.
I suppose it could be left to the audience to conclude in their heads that Leia did some training, and then left to focus on rebuilding the Republic.
I really appreciate the suggestion. That’s the best idea I’ve heard for this aspect of the film so far. I’ll give it a shot and see how it comes out!

I also have an idea for what you could do with broom kid:
During the sequence when all the star destroyers are falling, keep all the music the same, but get rid of cloud city, so that the only planets from that sequence we see are Endor and Jakku, and then in the space where Jakku used to be, add the close-up shot of broom kid’s hand with the rebel ring on it, followed by the close-up of his face smiling, and then followed by the final wide shot of him looking at the stars (and fade to black there, just as the music ends). The Tattooine epilogue can then immediately follow that!

I finally read the whole Duel of the Fates draft. I hate it even more now. A bunch of ideas that are good in isolation, but don’t really fit together at all. Too many lore-breaking contradictions, no central theme, too much expository dialogue… I can go on, but you get the point.
Despite its shortcomings, I’m glad we got Rise of Skywalker instead.
i will say this, tho: Opening scenes were very good. Also, I listened to the Empire Strikes Back soundtrack as I was reading, and some moments fit perfectly with the music right as I was reading them… it was pretty freaky!

Ok I’ll admit that all of those are actually pretty decent.
Art is subjective. You might think some of this is stupid, I happen to think it’s a masterpiece.
The grass is always greener, but “masterpiece” seems a tad strong for a partial screenplay of a film that was never made.
Yeah I don’t get how you can call 5 pages of a first draft script of an unproduced script a “masterpiece.” That’s more than a little silly.
Robert meyer Burnett read out most of the script on his YouTube channel and based on that script I think we would have gotten a film worthy of the Star Wars name.
The world building, the drama, the lore, the classic comedy and the politics, it’s all in there for me.Personally I’m waiting to get my hands on the script myself.
Maybe there’s a chance it gets adapted into a novel.
Doubt that’d happen anytime soon, if ever. We only ever got one unproduced Lucas script adapted into anything, and that was literally the very first SW draft (so much more historically interesting).
A lot of these unused concepts can get repurposed into other stories, tho. I’m holding out for that, at least!
Regarding the script screenshots that just leaked:
I like Leia’s role better, but obviously the change in her role from this draft to the final cut was dictated by tragic circumstances that nobody is to blame for.
Regarding all of the other characters:
I prefer the roles of Rey, Poe, Kylo, Hux, Force ghosts, and Sith in the film we actually got, whereas I prefer the roles of most of the other characters like Finn, Chewy, the droids, etc., in this draft.
I also prefer the aesthetics from the concept art of this draft, when compared to the look of the film we actually got.
Regarding the time jump: 9 or 10 years (as it is in this draft) is too much. For this version in particular, a jump of 2-5 years would’ve been a nice sweet spot, me thinks.
So, ultimately, more of a hybrid between the two visions would’ve been the ideal.
Just checked the predictions chart again. Myself and StarkillerAG are closest to the domestic total, and I’m closest to the worldwide total, it seems.

The film has now passed Rogue One worldwide, but I guess the chances of it passing Rogue One domestically are pretty much zero at this point.
So what will the final domestic total be? Like $510 million?

Still, we have to understand that films basically never live up to their concept art, which is always pie-in-the-sky sort of stuff. And this is a script that, if it was ever actually made, would have needed a lot of compression and downsizing.
The other thing to think about, in fairness to TROS, is what would we have thought if Trevorrow’s movie got made and then JJ’s leaked concepts came out? People would likely salivate over the return to Mustafar, the Sith world of Exegol, the Force bond duel, the Death Star ruins, etc. It all comes down to how it’s executed.
My thoughts exactly. I like some of these concepts, but as you said, it ultimately comes down to execution, and there’s no telling what the execution of any of this stuff would’ve been like. At the end of the day, I think the ST was always destined to be divisive. Star Wars evolved in a way over the decades where everyone now has a unique idea in each of their heads on what it should and shouldn’t be, and there just isn’t any way around that. Maybe kids being born and growing up now will see all nine films as a whole and won’t have these sort of crazy debates online on what’s better and what isn’t. If that’s the case, I look forward to when that day comes.

Now that I’ve had even more time to digest the leaked details from Colin’s script, I gotta admit that I’m finding more and more things that I like, mainly with Finn’s arc. Some sorta combo between Colin’s version and JJ’s would’ve been the ideal. Ultimately tho, if I had to pick just one version, I still prefer the movie we got.
That being said, I recall thinking back in the day that the ideal endpoint for Episode 9 would be for Rey to create a new order that merges light and dark, cause I couldn’t think of any other way to make this new trilogy feel “important” with respect to the rest of the saga. However, having now actually seen the movie, I think that by bringing back Palpatine and implying through Anakin’s one line that the prophecy is a cyclical thing that’s destined to keep repeating, JJ found a more fitting way to give this trilogy a sense of “importance” when put alongside the other movies.
In a weird sorta way, I think Colin’s version is the more fitting end to this trilogy specifically, while JJ’s version is a more fitting end to the saga as a whole. And personally, I think the latter is the more important in the grand scheme of things.
I think Rey’s yellow saber really implies she is going to go forward with a more balanced order. I think that Yoda training Luke and Rey training herself from the most ancient texts (from when there was balance) gives us a difference. Anakin was supposed to balance the force and he sort of did, but left his Jedi trained son to carry on and this time we got a different ending that brings better balance. Plus after ROTJ, someone helped Palaptine survive so we have to face him again (a very mythic redo to the previous defeat).

I’ve been reading some more details regarding the leaked draft (which I now see is being reported on by credible sources as being real). I’m starting to warm up to it, and can even see why CT and DC still got writing credit (mustafar sequence, etc.), but overall, I still prefer the movie we actually got by a landslide!
Don’t get me wrong, there are some thing from this draft I do actually prefer (double-bladed blue saber, etc.), but there are still just too many things I don’t like at all (damarey, monster-face kylo, etc.).
Just read the new alleged Collin Trevorrow script details from RMB’s “part 2” video (for context, RMB is the guy who also “leaked” the proposed Collin script details the other day).
Wow, that script sounds really, REALLY bad! Luke’s ghost disowning Kylo (“you’re no Skywalker”)? Rey becoming blind? Damerey? Rey being rewarded (seemingly) for becoming a “grey” Jedi? Hux stabbing himself with a lightsaber cause he can’t feel the force?
This is all way too dark and/or random for a finale starwars movie. I’m seriously having a hard believing any of this is real.
Finally got around to watching the finale. Loved it! Easily my favorite of the whole season. Put a smile on my face so many times!
This whole show is great! It’s the best thing since Empire, and the future of Starwars!

I loved most of the movie, but if I had to pick just one thing, it would be the moment when lando shows up with all of the ships. The look, the acting, and the music all fit together very well imo. Brought tears to my eyes.
