Oh yeah, the girls from Bublegum Crisis and Patlabor...

Actually, Leona Ozaki is from Masamune Shirow's DOMINION: Tank Police.

Ah, yes. Tank Police, with the tank named Napoleon, if I'm not mistaken... Well that looks a lot like the chick from Patlabor.

OK, OK, so, everyone whose first language is japanese has some difficulties with some sounds, such as R. But that's rather comon on languages that dosen't have some sounds. I mean, I know very few people from Brazil who can pronounce the "th" sound in english, and I challenge any american to pronounce our "RR" or "NH" sound correctly.

But about the name of the console. The more I think about it, the more I feel they have something there. I mean, when I first saw the Revolution (oh. Wii.) controller, I was skeptic. I thought it would be a disaster. I mean, how am I going to play all those games I used to play? And then I realized... I was going to change the way I would play games. It's something else. I should change my mind, not focus on what is old, on what is already there for years, but on the new stuff.

And now, as time goes by, I realize Wii is not that bad. I mean, saying it is weird? Wii? OK say NES. Say, DS. Nonsensical, small words (yes I know those are acronyms, but that is how we named the consoles). Besides, the whole thing with the two persons playing as the i's, that is a bit... "I've just graduated from marketing", but hey... it was sort of original. So, I have no problems naming it Nintendo Wii. We'll say Revolution sometimes, just like some people used to say Ultra 64 when the N64 came.

But, as I've said to some people here, I just know there'll be some folks calling it the W 2. Get it? W II?

Super Mario Super Show and Captain N

Did anyone notice that, even though the characters were played by the same actors, they both had totally different personalities in the live-action segments as opposed to the main cartoon? In the live-action segments, Mario was a bumbling idiot to Luigi's rather calculating straight man. In the cartoons, Mario was the heroic one, and Luigi was the traditional cowardly sidekick.

Maybe because it worked better that way. The live action segments did not require for Mario to be heroic, it was just a silly, corny sitcom for kids. The cartoon required an "action hero" and a comic releaf oposed to him, so the personalities were different.

As I've said on the videogame thread, the silly name dosen't matter, as we'll have a great console nonetheless. Nintendo chose this name so the hardcore Sony supporters can have something to whine about. Oh, and by the way, is the new PSP with touch screen available yet? Has Sony copied that already? Hmn?

Have any of you guys been fired before?
Time
I've never been fired myself, I quit my job twice to move to a better one. But I've seen stuff like Bossk has described happen. Like this one time when they hired about 10 people to work on a project, and were trainning them, and suddenly the project was off due to some reasons not really important now, and they had to fire all those 10 people. After, like, 4 days. I wasn't there when it happened, but I belive it was really a crappy day at the office that day.

The computer dilemma
Time
Can I take this thread hostage to ask just one question, that is somewhat related to the topic: when the Macs switch to x86 architecture processors, how compatible will they be with PC applications? I don't see how much they could be, as those applications use OS features, and that could be emulated but not ported... Will I really be able to kiss my PC goodbye with one of those?

Well, it's like that scene cut from Pulp Fiction about how people are either Beatles or Elvis persons... You are either a The Bends person, or a Kid A person... But we all enjoy OK Computer...

Folks in England, please convince Radiohead to come to Brazil to do a gig here. And while you're at it, please convince Pink Floyd to reunite WITH Roger Waters, do another album and tour around here too.

Why would you be cremated AND buried? If you're wanna be buried so that the relatives can visit you and the goths can drink beer and dance to german indie rock over your grave, why not go as a whole body? Why burn it? I wanna be cremated because I want my ashes to be spilled over strategic places. Also, I want my whole family paranoid of if my mother has put a bit of my ashes over the food out of insanity for losing her son.

Of course, my real desire would be to be stuffed and mounted at the living room at a spinning pedestal that always face the place I've died, with a horror look in my face and a banana in each of my hands. But I'm afraid that would be too expensive, and a bit too scary to the children who break into my house at the night out of curiosity about the myth of the stuffed spining corpse at the neighborhood.
