Ricarleite!

Wow! It is like necroposting... but in reverse!

How's life on the other side of the equator?

Hi, it's going on as usual I suppose. How's life up there at north?

Gonna take a look every now and then at this forum, last time I was here the non-anamorphic DVDs were released, and there was no such thing as a blu-ray, it's been almost a decade. Time sure flies by.

Keeping with the topic, playing some PC games, still have my Wii, owner of a 3DS, would gladly share friend codes with some of you.

THE MANGLER BROTHERS
Time
I get back here and find out that the new software is up... Who would have thought of that...

Came back also to share with the few of you that a couple of weeks ago I met Anthony Daniels. He was in Brazil as part of a Star Wars exposition gallery that shows up props and costumes used on the original trilogy, and as part of the relaunch of the ill-fated 6 disc DVD box (the one with the non-anamorphic O-OT discs). He was VERY kind and polite, and signed a Episode 4 2004 dvd box (yes I have that box, so sue me). I thought about giving him the Dr Gonzo set to sign, but then considered he might know what that would be.

Here's a picture, let's see if it works:

I will get back here to post pics of the SW expo, but that's it.

THE MANGLER BROTHERS
Time
I've found this old URL on an old desktop, at the bookmarks, and thought I should give it a look, see if it's still running, and since I was logging in to see the top 10 list (heck I'm still on it and it's been more than a year or so), I decided to hijack this topic - I thought the mangler bros would be a good place to say hi. Don't know if some old-school folks are still around and remember me, I know Chaltab will. Well what do you know, it still works, I had old personal messages here I didn't know about, and the new software never got deployed after all. I remember some folks split, a new forum was created, I was on it for a while until it went kapoot. But ot.com is still on... Neat. Well, just saying hello, g'bye again. :- )

Was ricarlette a racist?
Time
Holy shit is that post directed to me (incorrectly written, though)? I SWEAR I had never checked the forum since the day I've left, I didn't think about posting a SINGLE DAY, and when I come back, I'm being acused of being a racist? Well, that was some coincidence, but not a good one!

I left because I wanted to, because back then I was getting a management position that didn't allow me time to breath, let alone post in forums, and due to the increasing trolling and decreasing quality. It must have been through some divine intervention I've comen back and seen this...

I don't even NEED to reply to that moronic trolling bullshit, I'll let my reply be my absence from this forum.

That's quite enough for now
Time
I saw this old forum on a favorites list and thought, what the heck, let's take a look and see how are things now. Seems it's still pretty much the same, fewer older posters, but it seems that some of the irritating trolling has backed down a little bit.

I am not back though, just thought of making some sort of surprise cameo.

On the latest news, hated Spider Emo 3, Pirates 3, the new look on the Clone Wars cartoon (what is left to tell?), and so and so.

Answering Zion: that picture (which is not online anymore it seems) was a photoshop I did from a local TV show in which the two characters shown hassle and bother celebrities, specially the most abnoxious and annoying ones, and that include international celebrities. I just added GL there because I wanted to see him on that show.

Take care all of you,
Rik

That's quite enough for now
Time
I've been thinking about the condition of this forum for quite some time now, and I've always said that when the time came, when I felt it had no turning back and became too lousy of a forum, then it'd be time for me to leave. Not due to someone asking me to, or caused by a single individual, but as a sum of factors. After almost 3 years and 6780 posts, I'd say the time is now.

A lot of factors are contributing for this. First, I've always had time and oportunity to openly read the content of this forum and post here on my job and at home. Working as a technical consultant, I've always faced moments in which I either had nothing to do, I was waiting for something to execute, waiting for someone's answer, or, on some moments, so tired of coding or testing I'd take a look at here for a while, always keeping the original trilogy website opened on a minimized browserm taking a peek every now and then. I'm going to face some new (absolutely terrifying) professional challenges which will forbid me to do this.

Second, everyone who really mattered is gone. All the good old posters we had some time ago are not here anymore. All of you with a joined date previous to january 2006 know what I mean and whom am I talking about. Sadly, this forum has been infested with idiotic, unporpoused trolls, and even one of the older members has clearly become one. I can attribute this to the huge forum purge that happened some time ago, the delays on Jay's software change (to which I don't blame him or accuse him of anything), the fading away of Star Wars topics due to the PT being over and the OOT being "released" in a way, and the degrading quality of forums all over the internet.

It's coming to the point in which I'm angered by how the forum is now, and yesterday I've reconsidered the necessity of me being here. So guess that's it. For all of you who wanna keep in touch, my personal e-mail and MSN Messenger contact is my username here, at hotmail.com (I'm not writting it down due to spam). Anyone, please feel free to get in touch with me whenever you want.

Thank you all, I've had good moments and met cool people here. Jay, thank you for putting up what has been for a long time the BEST forum on the internet and the only internet petition that had a true porpouse and a cause. May the force be with you. No more liberal brazillian annoying you guys! Até mais!

I'm so pissed that the movies are going to be released separatedly... I'll just have to wait for the DVDs to come out, WHEN they come out, IF they come out, and get them... both... because, most likely, they will be released separatedly, and even if you want to rent the damn thing, you'll have to pay twice. Damn Hollywood bastards.

Inde film from the mid 90s, based on an unproduced Ed Wood script. It was the only thing that Ed saved from his apartment when it went up in smoke. There's no dialogue, it stars Billy Zane, and it's highly (and excellently) stylized. The soundtrack is also impeccable. It's really fucking great and it's a shame that it's been tied up in rights issues so that it's not commercially available in the States.

This movie sounds so interesting... No dialogue, Billy Zane and written by Ed Wood...? So bizarre, this MUST be good!

I take that you've never used it for stuff other than simple spreadsheets with a couple of rows of data in it, and never had to use the functions, or program your own, or use macros on it, or use it with a web service to send a XML message to a websphere server. I had spreadsheets that synched with ERP systems by XML messages and functions that did all the work a CRM system would do with the data fetched. The only thing I hate is the limitation of 65536 rows - heck, I want millions of rows sometimes without having to normalize the data.

Things I hate! IMDB new layout. It's HORRIBLE!
