They messed up with the wrong kind of people, that's all. Sad when it happens.

(i dont get that! haha) but he says that the girls down there are more aggresive and fun to be with...

The fact you're Canadian has nothing to do with it, I don't get it either...
More aggressive? Don't know about that...

Not only Canadian girls, Canadian people are too into themselves, too cold and formal and stuff. Not only in Canada, it's like that anywhere in Europe, Asia, and in the american continent above Mexico.

It will definutly be much darker then Empire. First of all Attack of the Clones is probably the second darkest of the Star Wars movies. Return of the Jedi has the empire getting defeated by teddy bears but you can call Attack of the Clones childish. Statments like that make no sense. Attack of the Clones was far far better then The Phantom Menace. This is not Lucas learning from mistakes. What it is was always the plan. Episode 1 was always going to be as much of a kids movies as possible. He did it this way because he knew Episode 2 would be much much darker and Episode 3 would not be happy by any stretch of the imagination. Considering how many characters are going to die and how the galaxy is going to be plunged into darkness Revenge of the Sith might be one of the most depressing movies in a while.

If you think ROTS is going to be depressing, then watch some movies like "Magnolia", "Edward Scissorhands", or even better: watch "Threads", THAT'S depressing. You'll end up wanting to kill yourself.

I belive ROST might have a more serious tone, almost as serious as ESB. But still, it'll be the good old crappy CGI and plot extravaganza.

well some of the stories are usually just about Carnival and the brothels there...
he was basically comparing as to how Canadian woman differ from the woman of Brazil..

and when he went back there to visit some family for a couple months he found out that many of his friends were killed due to drug dealing...
he said it had gotten really bad in his area... (not saying Brazil is bad for drugs... everywhere is bad for drugs, but im just repeating what he was telling me)

OK, the thing is, the whole "City of God-Tarantino" like violence, it's not real, it's not like that. If they were killed because of drug dealing, that means they were messing with the WRONG kind of people. You'll find as many drug consumers as anywhere else in the world, the problem is that the drug dealers often control some selling areas, and they result to violence to protect their selling points. This happens more often in Rio, where the city is surrounded by them. But if you have a fully functional brain you'll avoid Rio, or at least those creepy areas. In Sao Paulo, where I live, the same happens, but it's usually in a distant part of the city, so it's not that bad. Again, I'd recomend not to visit Sao Paulo, as it's not a turistic city. Violence here usually has a reason, if someone's is murdered, he was either being robbed and did something foolish like fighting the guy; or he was involved in drug dealing and did something stupid. Spree killing and serial killers are VERY rare, I remember there were about 4 or 5 in the last 50 years, and only one of them killed more than one person at a time.

Carnival (aka carnaval), yes, it is a 5 day orgy (friday night to wednesday), but it usually dosen't envolve violence or drugs. Just grab some condoms and you'll be fine. OK I'm kidding, it's not THAT "bad" (or should I say good), but I garantee, if you WANT to have sex, you WILL. It's like mardi gras (cant spell it), but it's on the entire country, and it lasts 5 days. There are some traditional cultural celebrations which I couldn't easily explain, as you'd have to know a lot about our history and culture to understand it.

The women in Brazil are different, but that's because people here are different. Latin american people (except argentine people) are more friendly, more... how can I say it... well you get the idea. People from north america and europe are more "closed to themselves" if you compare to us.

Brothels, you'll find it anywhere, sure, same thing as any country in the world. I never went to any of these, it's against my principles to pay for sex.

I live in Nevada. I'm in the Las Vegas area (a.k.a. Sin City) and prostitution is not legal here.

It is not?! I thought it was... So sorry...

I beg you, please use a comma somewhere in this statement. Preferably between the words "probing" and "children" or it starts to sound like something that happens regularly at the Neverland Ranch.

Yes, let's keep the child probing to Michael Jackson and Jeffrey Jones only, ok?

actually ric i have an interesting question about Brazil...
i have a friend who came from there and told us MANY stories about back home..
i was curious on what you consider a cold day?

like temperature wise...

OK, here are my personal records:

Coldest day I had in Brazil was a 0 celsius (about 32f), in a winter day about 3 years ago
Hottest day was in Rio about 7 years ago, 49C (you do the math to fahrenheit)
Deep into the south of the country it can get to -10C, -15C, it rarely snows because our winter is dry, not because of the temperature.

And what are the MANY stories? I'd like to make sure some false myths about Brazil are ended.

Is the movie a faithful adaptation of the book?

São Paulo, Brazil:

It's rare to find old fire hydrants on the streets today (they are red), now they are underground. Police officers use a grey and white uniform, and the cars are grey, white, with some details in red and black. All taxi cabs must be white. Uh... anything else I could say? Does anyone have any question about either São Paulo or Brazil?

I like the comment at the bottom of the screen too.

Wouldn't it be nice if this whole thing ended a happy ending, like in that "UHF" movie, with everyone on the streets celebrating they have their O-OT DVDs, and George Lucas screaming in a 80s teen movie villain way: "You can't do that!! Stop!! Those are MY movies!! I'm George Lucas, dammit!!", and then he falls unto a mud puddle, and everyone laughs at him, and the cops arrest him for some uncertain reason, and he starts to cry...

Isn't that the movie where Elliot from ET has an imaginary spy friend looking for an atari game, and every 5 minutes the director almosts screams at you "This is an 80s movie!! 80s!! Nineteen eigthties!!".

All cool, The Cure on DVD, the movie where every 5 minutes the director screams at you "This is sad!! Cry, you heartless bastard, cry!!".

I'm kidding, I love both movies, specially The Cure. The Cure and Stand by Me are the ultimate "friendship"movies.

How Long Does Copyright Protection Last?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How long does a copyright last?
The term of copyright for a particular work depends on several factors, including whether it has been published, and, if so, the date of first publication. As a general rule, for works created after Jan. 1, 1978, copyright protection lasts for the life of the author plus an additional 70 years. For an anonymous work, a pseudonymous work, or a work made for hire, the copyright endures for a term of 95 years from the year of its first publication or a term of 120 years from the year of its creation, whichever expires first. For works first published prior to 1978, the term will vary depending on several factors. To determine the length of copyright protection for a particular work, consult chapter 3 of the Copyright Act (title 17 of the United States Code). More information on the term of copyright can be found in Circular 15a, Duration of Copyright, and Circular 1, Copyright Basics.

Do I have to renew my copyright?
No. Works created on or after Jan. 1, 1978, are not subject to renewal registration. As to works published or registered prior to Jan. 1, 1978, renewal registration is optional after 28 years but does provide certain legal advantages.

To find out more, go to this website.

OK, so, I'll see you guys in 2124, when I'll own my OT hologram copy implanted in my cyber-brain. I'll be 142 years old, and I'll have the world record for oldest man ever, beating the prior record by more than 2 decades.

If you bought a car, and it was half-finished, wouldn't you want it to be replaced by a fully functional car? So it is our right to have the DVDs in exchange for a 9 year old heavily used VHS tape. I am going to send letter and/or call the local Fox Films distributor here and ask them. (although I belive they probably won't know what I'm talking about)

Not everything has an exact explanation. It's more like an abstract paiting, you can explain how you feel about it and what you belive it means, but there is no definitive answer because no interpretation is wrong. Remember when the Force had no real explanation? Wasn't it a lot better then today's midchlorians? I rest my case.
