The Things We Hate And Love Thread .

Perhaps Greedo just slipped his finger over the trigger. He didn't want to kill Solo. Unfortunally GL cut a scene that was supposed to go between Greedo's shot and Solo's shot:

"Woops sorry slipped my finger, happens all the time. Let me put this gun away. What was I saying? Oh yes... I've waited so long for this moment... Solo... I... I can't hide it anymore. I'm secretly in love with you. Here, I'll pay all your debts with Jabba... Let's run away together! I know a little place in Naboo where we won't be found... And we can make love together from the sunrise to the sunset... Please..."

Solo shoots Greedo.

A response to the "They're His Movies" arguement
Time
No of course not, why would he make fans happy? After all, he's a freaking billionaire thanks to the fans and he should be on his knees, crying and thanking us at the top of his lungs... but no, he'll just personally spit on every overpiced DVD he sells us, right?

Meanwhile, Curly from the Three Stooges is in heaven: "Niac niac niac, I want them to add COLOR to my movies! Woo woo woo woo!"

It isnt so bad...
Time
I belive it's not a question of it being better or worse, it's a question of preserving the original films. Let's say that MGM decided to "computer-colorize" the first scenes in Wizard of Oz, now, wouldn't it be horrible? Yet, for some reason, some people would like it... Now let's say they also add some CGI to the film, and replace the tin man with a CGI character voiced by Tom Hanks. See what I mean?

Another bad timing thing was related to a local fast food chain, it's very successful over here, and I belive they have restaurants in some other countries in latin america. It serves a pseudo-arab food, but with a fast food look into it. So, they were planning on opening their first restaurant on the united states, a fast food place that sells ARAB food, with all the arab temathics and stuff... on september 12th, 2001. Of course they decided not to, and eventually gave up going into america, they lost a lot of money.

Try emulators instead... If you enjoy it, you might want to buy this NES...

The original NES (famicon's american version) was released in... 1985 I belive? I still own a local version of the NES, I got on my birthday in 1989. Wow it has been 15 years... I think it's worth MORE than 40 bucks.

Asian earth quake and Tidal Wave.
Time
I remember reading that if this earthquake had hitten a populated area, instead of happening on the bottom of the ocean, there would be even more dead, but I doubt it, as it would concentrate it's destruction in one place, and this tsunami got to a lot of different places.

And the bizarre, bizarre, creepy part of it: there's this TV ad over here, I've seen it on... december 24th I think: there's this local tradition of jumping 7 waves on the beach on new years eve, and if you do so you'll get lucky for the rest of the year. So there was this life insurance ad which feature a happy couple jumping the waves, counting "one, two", while the narrator kept talking how theres no such thing as luck, and telling people to do a life insurance, and then when he ends his narration, the couple is about to jump the 7th wave, comes this huge CGI wave and takes them away, and they are shown on the ground, spitting water, and with fishes on them and stuff... Supposed to be comical, and it was I thought it was amusing, very funny, but I belive they had to pull the ad out of the air, now... Talk about bad timing!

Reminds me also of the last TV show I watched on the night of september 10, 2001: a discovery channel programm about the twin towers and how they would be able to survive strong winds and earthquakes, and were supposed to last for 5 more decades.

Merry Christmas
Time
Even though I have my reasons to hate x-mas, as I have said before, that dosen't mean you guys can't have a special, memorable one. I wish you all a merry christmas, or a happy celebration week for all of those who are not christians. Let it be a time for reflection, for peace, let it be a time for letting differences aside and celebrating the good things, the good moments, celebrating the time we spent with those who we care for, and wish that we become better humans beings, thus making this world a better place to live.

Since this is the "merry christmas" topic, I'll make my "happy new years" votes next week, ok?
