The Non-Biased PS3 Thread
Time
Time to ressucitate this thread with some facts from the launch in Japan. No more tha 80 thousand consoles were put to sale, and it was over pretty quickly. But check this out - I DON'T KNOW the source because a friend of mine copy and pasted to me:

This is the true face of the PlayStation 3 debut in Japan. Hardcore gamers are not here waiting in line overnight, buying a first-run PS3, and running home to play some good old next-gen gaming. Rather, opportunistic Japanese businessmen have the largest presence, hiring poor Chinese men and women to wait in line for a PS3, one which will later be sold on web auctions to wealthy gamers around the world for exorbitant amounts of money.

And I suspect Sony is behind this. The console is being sold at a price that would not allow Sony to have a profit, being so expensive to produce and bizarrely extravagant (check out the INSIDES of a PS3), that Sony has to come to other resources to recoup its investment, like charging fees for game usage, for the network, and royalties for the games. So, what I suspect Sony is doing is to create a paralel black market to get more money for a console that is, initially, expensive already. They've already closed down LEGITIMATE international import websites in Asia and South America so THEY can have this piece of the pie...

Also, do you remember how the prequel trilogies were released in fewer theaters than regular for a massive blockbuster just to generate lines? So there...

History repeats itself indeed...

The personal hygiene thread
Time
But if you think about it, the exit handle is touched by people leaving the restroom, and who have washed their hands... But that's pretty much why the restroom at the office I am now dosen't have any doors (located at a curve corridor so people can't see inside).

So please, if you ever see someone at your office brushing their teeth after lunch, don't act as if it's weird, ask him where is he from. Odds are he is a compatriot of mine!

Music
Time
My favorite styles are pseudo-indie rock (Radiohead, Neutral Milk Hotel), prog-rock (Pink Floyd, Yes, Emerson, Lake & Palmer), some classic rock (Led, Hendrix, Crosby Stills and Nash), and eletronica (Techno, Psytrance, Dance music in general, latest stuff by Madonna, Kraftwerk, Wendy Carlos), plus some stuff from Brazil (Chico Buarque)

People here brush their teeth after meals if they are at home or at the office - you don't carry a toothbrush if you're going out for dinner. There's no general rule on how to carry it, but I have a small briefcase for my stuff, and on it I keep a small pack with a toothbush box (fits a toothbrush) and toothpaste.

Around here in Brazil, although bidets are usually built on home's bathrooms, I don't think most people use those. It differs from region to region though, I belive it's usage is more common in Rio de Janeiro, for example.

As for baths, I usually take one every morning.

The personal hygiene thread
Time
One of our colleagues here was surrounded by americans when he was working in the US when he mentioned he brushed his teeth after every meal, all of them asking him questions. This is so absolutely normal here, since kidengarten kids go brush their teeth after meals, at some offices you can find some floss in the bathroom for the employees... I've been to the US but I've never worked there, but all the north americans we had here did not brush their teeth at all, and I found it to be a little bit weird, until I've realized that's not a common practice.

About shaving armpits, most, if not all, woman do it here, so yeah, that's not a nice view, such a beautiful woman with a hairy armpit...

The personal hygiene thread
Time
This is merely a thread I've started due to an amusing conversation regarding the influence of one's coutry and culture over his personal hygiene. I work directly with people from north america and all of them found weird the fact that we here in Brazil brush our teeth after every meal. When working in the US we get some strange looks from people at the bathroom for brushing out teeth there - something absolutely normal here. This habbit is aparently seen as unusual and weird by our north american colleagues, some of who have claimed to brush their teeth only once a day, or even once a week!

So I was wondering, since this is an international forum filled with people from everywhere, what do you think about it?

Saddam Hussein Sentenced To Death
Time
The wisest thing to do is to lock Saddam out of sight for, let's say, a few months, and hang him without anyone knowing, and only publicize he was killed months later. If this is turned into a media circus, there will be revolt on Iraq and things will turn into MUCH worse. Not only in Iraq, but in the middle east in general. The least his execution is publicized, the better.

Must be kinda tough hearing that, but words are merely words and they have the meaning you want them to have. It's what you take from what is said to you that matters. So you can take that as a positive affirmation to yourself. Let her know she is wrong on saying that. Raise your head up and say "Nope. Not gonna do that. Gonna live and be successful and be happy just to show ya.". That's the best thing you can do, and you KNOW you can do it.

Alright? So take it easy, relax, don't let bad thoughts dominate your mind. I know this may sound useless and silly, but if you think about it, it does make sense. You are in control of your own thoughts. No use feeling sorry for yourself, feeling down. Just smile and say "Well watch this", and live the best you can. Alright? NOw that being said, I wanna see a positive response from you here. Cmon.

Saddam Hussein Sentenced To Death
Time
Well, both, let them come to my place. I'll let them hang out here. We can drink some beers listening to prog-rock, and go out and get some girls, and at thursday nights eat pizza and watch Dr Who drinking from an old bottle of Smirnoff Vodka I still have at my apartment, and then we could do a road trip to the beach, we go out and surf, and drink some whisky laying on the sand at night while watching the stars, and then if the mood is right and if we're drunk enough we could, you, know, experiment and stuff, if they're open minded about that... and we could get some new outfit for Saddam, you know, give him a new look... And we'll play poker as we get older, and fix old cars, and listen to some old music and remember the good days, back when I was young, and when Saddam's attorney was young, and when Saddam was a cruel and sadistic dictator, and then the attorney will die in a cocaine OD and we'll close his eyes when we find him laying in the bathroom naked with cocaine still on his nose and upper lip, and we'll cry holding each other all night, and call the cops, and then Saddam will go to the US and meet some girl in Las Vegas and move with her to Alaska for some job he found, and I'll go into a journey of self discovery in Asia, and I'll meet Saddam in a cloudy night in Moscow six years later, and we'll hang out for a while, he's gonna tell his girlfriend from Vegas commited suicide, and he's finding a new path for his live, but each of us go separate ways again, I fly back to Brazil, he flies to Greece in search of a new love, because he has seen that movie "Shirley Valentine" on TV eating ice cream and crying, and he thinks Greece is where his love is at, and he'll find a rich bisexual greek named Adrapopalus who'll show him a new meaning of the word love, and I'll find a new love at the internet and fall in love with her and marry her, and Saddam will appear on the wedding, after the sex change, holding arms with his new husband, Carlo, because he dumped Adrapopalus due to his bad breath and obsession with french TV, and Saddam will go into plane trip with Carlo to the Caspian sea, but the plane will crash due to an impact with a blind albatroz and they'll perish on the crash, and my wife will see me crying at bed, with Saddam's picture, after I get the phone call he has died, and she'll ask "Who do you love more, me or this damn ex dictator?", and I'll...

Oh never mind then. Hang the damn bastard.

Bond, James Bond
Time
Although I have nothing against having Daniel Craig as Bond, I absolutely hate the fact that they "reset" the series, even changing some conventions as having Bond always as 007 and changing the gunbarrel shooting scene. There should be the gunbarrel scene, fading into a 5 minute teaser sequence, the musical opening, and the movie... They've completely messed up with the series...
